    I LOVED the island, Riselle.
We stood for 1 week, made precious friends like Mr.Soon's family. My kids (back then teens, now adults) NEVER forget and speak with friends about this travel with big pride. We fence-surfed a MD-80 of the extinct Insel Air, visited all the beaches we could, shop at Front Street....and Just imagine what it means for a nerd to meet Mr. Nick Maley IN PERSON!!!!
As for my wife...she does not have a good memory of SXM because it was just during the travel that she felt the first pregnancy nausea from our younger daughter...and this, women NEVER forget. LOL
Though our friends moved to USA...i want to visit SXM once again in the future.
There are always more friends to make...isn't it?

We have been there a few times a year for the last 4. We were last there in late April early May 24. The airport is undergoing renovations... the processing of incoming passengers is TERRIBLE. So inefficient. The airport staff are lazy and unhelpful. A child could set up a better system for moving people and processing the line. They literally do NOT care. It took us nearly 3 hours to get through customs/entry and get the shuttle to our rental car company. The island is great. Food great. Great accommodations in several villas we have rented in Orient Bay. Excellent food almost everywhere. French, Thai, Indian, local lolos, All 1st class. The airport entry process is the pits. Maybe it will be better when it is updated, but my gosh, if you are making certain changes, the Dutch islanders may want to staff up a little to better process the entries. Charge an extra fee for goodness sake. The exit process was smoother than it had been and the new part of the terminal for departures was much better. So there is hope.

@@Winterfell1066 sounding by the frustration that is evident in your comment, you may have arrived on a particularly hectic and chaotic day. And I understand that frustration because I myself have experienced it as well. Most of us locals are quite embarrassed by the first impression our guests get upon arrival and can only hope the work is completed in time for the next Caribbean season. Thank you for your comment.
