PG’s main job is to facilitate the offense. If that means score, score. If that means pass, pass. It’s not their MAIN job to be a scorer. It’s to read the defense and make the right play. I like the “take the middy” theme. That’s facts. But the descriptions at the beginning of the video are a little off. The PG should be getting everyone involved. AND score when it’s needed or when he reads the defense and the best play is for him to score.
you say that only because im assuming you dont play in competitive leagues. In those leagues a passing Pg is literally the worst pg you can get on your team. Not because having the ability to pass is bad in general. But because teams are waiting for you to make passes just to steal them. The only way you win those games is by having a Pg who can score. Its the reason BlackMarket with Joe Knows is very successful. You speak about the Pg in an IRL format and that I agree with. 2k just a bit different. Also, im not saying the Pg should just be walking down and everyone sitting still while he goes to work. Throughout the game he should be calling plays and what not if its available. However, from a random rec standpoint most people aren't on the mics or even going to listen anyway lol.
@Nvad3 Then that simply means comp defenses(and partly offenses) lean towards a pg scoring more than not no? Because a tunnel vision PG shooting contested, trying to score on 2 people instead of dotting someone open, or a scared PG falling for baits results in blowouts. It's not their MAIN Job. It is a part of the role. Run your offense (whatever that looks like) Make the best play (score or pass)
@@Dum-E to some degree yes and no. No pg should ever be tunnel vision’d because at that point the defense will just load up on you. You’re just ball hogging at that point 😂😂😂 But the PG should absolutely be aggressive your ending point is what should happen. Make the best play that’s available. But generally speaking if the pg can score first that should happen.
Be clear tho the pg needs to be able to score but i feel a pg should only start looking to score once its established that cant no one else do nothing cant get a clean back door cant cook cant rim run...let your team play first then if it starts to get out of hand you rally the team by scoring and the team will recognize that usually and be ok with it...but if you come out the gate with 16 shots in the second quarter and everyone else got 1-2 shot attempts they gonna start getting disengaged...im also speaking from the perspective of playing with randoms tho
I hear you but I disagree. Even with randoms I go into a game already knowing if we're going to win generally I'm going to have to score 20+. Speaking from the perspective of random rec, generally most teammates dont use mics anyway. So cuts are going to happen randomly 9 times out of 10 anyway lol. Doesn't mean you shouldn't hit them when their open or anything like that. But from my Pov whenever I'm scoring is when randoms generally enjoy the game more. I get all types of messages saying you're the first Pg I've played with that knows what their doing. Most people unless their just selfish don't care if you can score at a high clip just don't be a ball hog. Like having 40 and still coming up the court jacking shots. Or knowing the game already over and you still not getting your team involved. 16 shots in a half is crazy though that should never happen unless you just blowing a team out and you're getting those shots off breaks lol
2k momentum is a real thing especially this year sometimes if you do that when you do start to try and get going 2k might be on some funny shit it’s almost better to set the tone right out the game but not overly do it and be perceived ball hog or your team chem will go downhill fast lol
Yeah im using turbo there. The only time I generally use turbo is coming up the court. But once I cross half court I'm either using turbo for a dribble move or to blow out of the dribble move and then to where I want to go. For middies in general best to let go of the left stick when you get where you want to be though. Otherwise you might get an accidental layup.
I have a 99 point guard 2 way 3 level shot creator with a 96 midrange and a 83 3 pointer , 95 perimeter defense and a 75 steal rating . And a 95 ball handle 75% of the shots I take are from the midrange either moving shots off the dribble or catch and shoot . I only shoot 3s when I’m wide open .
For the midrangengame and pulling up more I play on that mynba camera default angle it helps you see more open shots and see the spacing quicker on your build
@@Nvad3 it’s one of the more zoomed in angles so it allows you to see a lot of gaps in between which you will miss initially the passing on it is a bit meh but for an undersized shooter I feeel like it’s helped me

Yeah it happens to me too lol. I found that if you’re looking for a middy when you’re where you want to be let go of the left stick. If you hold forward it’ll give you a layup. I still get accidental layups all the time. 🥲

Telling these terrible 2k players that the main thing they’re supposed to do as a PG is score is gonna continue the problems we already have in random rec lol
@@DiscGolfFA nahh. Random rec is bad because everyone feels like they should be the one scoring. You got guys making random cuts expecting a pg who’s never played with you to see everything. You got small forwards and 2 guards wrapping around the pg for no reason on the court killing spacing. You got popping centers who never set screens to pop they just sit out on the 3 expecting the ball. You got power forwards making 99 driving dunk builds wondering why they useless on offense lol. There’s 1000 more reasons why random rec is bad. The PG’s taking on the scoring load wouldn’t be one of them. But if a pg trash then he just trash you can’t avoid that it’s the luck of the draw 😂😂
This isn’t 1958 bro if the PG isn’t aggressive and able to score and make the defense react the team becomes ten times easier to guard and everybody just gonna bait and stay home you need to creat a since of fear in the defense that if they don’t adjust to the pg he’s gonna give them 40 like I tell people if our team score 80+ it’s a lot more cake too go around compared to if we score 50-60 points
