Tesla Model Y - There Is NO WAY This Is This Cheap!! Best Deal Yet On New Tesla Model Y Deliveries

  • Since the Tesla Model Y was first released in 2020, I have been tracking and reporting on pricing of the flagship Tesla. Although we saw massive price increases in 2021, we finally saw significant price decreases in 2023, following the implementation of the EV Tax Credits.
    Prices have been overall steady this year, although there have been a few changes. At the beginning of the year, the EV Tax credits began eligibility to be transferred to the dealer and realized as a point of sale tax credit. The benefit of this is that by transferring the credit, you dont have to worry about having enough tax liability to cover the full $7,500. However, you still have to meet income cap requirements and the vehicle must be under MSRP limits.
    The thing is, these tax credits are specifically for new vehicle purchases. For leases, you as the buyer dont get a tax credit, kind of. The bank, or manufacturer gets to take the full tax credit and is allowed to handle the $7,500 as they wish. Some manufacturers apply none of the funds to the lease, while others apply the full amount. In the case of Tesla, starting this year, they finally started applying the full amount to leases.
    This means that Tesla is applying $7,500 towards the depreciation of the Tesla Model Y in the lease. This significant application of cash makes the lease on a new Tesla Model Y extremely low, and certainly cheaper than most other gas car equivalent on the market.
    This Lease "loophole" actually allows everyone to qualify. You dont have to be under income limits, meaning even if you make too much money, or the vehicle you are looking at wouldn't qualify for the battery component requirements, the lease option applies to most EV's on the road today, within MSRP limits.
    As we are coming to the close of Q1, I have been watching Model Y prices, and recently saw something that couldn't possibly be true. The payment calculator on Tesla's website showed an almost unbelievable payment on a brand new in inventory Model Y. I also have an incentive as a Cybertruck reservation holder for an additional $1,000 off a new Tesla. When combined, it actually means that the base Tesla Model Y can be had for under $300/mo.
    Now I am not suggesting leasing is the right or wrong thing to do, or that its better or worse than a purchase, I am simply sharing what I have found on the affordability on a car that is far more sophisticated, has far more tech, is in a class of its own in safety, and all for costs lower than most run of the mill entry level cars.
    This shouldn't be possible, but here we are. The affordability of a Tesla Model Y is at levels that make no sense. Once the quarter is over, these discounts usually reset, so this may be the best time to consider a new Tesla Model Y, because we already know that on April 1st, prices go up $1,000.

    After 1 year of research and waiting for the “perfect” price, I bought my first EV (2022 Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD with 14,908 miles) for $42,990. I couldn’t be any happier. Thanks for the videos you and others put out.

      I believe my new MYLR 2024 was about 40k. This already includes the 7500 rebate, a decent downpayment, and an inventory discount + interest rate from loan. Are you located in the US? $43k for a used one doesn't sound bad, but it's not good either. Not trying to disrespect, just genuinely curios if you were aware how cheap the 2024 models for US based customers.

    • @Gabriel-ko2sd
      @Gabriel-ko2sd 2 месяца назад +6

      @tomcruise3003 Again, I paid $42,990 out of the door. No financing. Forgot to mention that. If I build a MYLR as of today (3-28-24) the way I have my vehicle configured before taxes, fees, financing fees and incentives, it’s $54,630. After probable savings, $41,890 (before taxes, fees, and financing fees). I truly understand your point of view but everyone situation in buying a vehicle is different. Even on Tesla website, preowned vehicles didn’t compare to the deal that I received back on February 18th, 2024 when I took delivery. Feel free to add anything else that I now may of have forgotten.

The competition can't cut prices like this either! Especially with a great vehicle like the Model Y. I just got the latest update and the cars can VIRTUALLY drive themselves. That's still $15K more than a Kia Forte LXS. Tesla has 4/8 year warranty, while Kia has 5/10 year warranties. The problem with going with a lease is that (besides being limited in total miles per year) if you add the down payment to the monthly payment ($3,999 divided by 36), it's another $111 dollars per month, so the $282 for the standard range turns into $393 before taxes. Or $437 for the long range. And at the end of 3 years you don't own it. Which, if you plan to keep it for many years, it's bad. But if you plan on getting a new EV after 3 years, then it's pretty good.

    The $7500 applies to purchases too, not just leases. 10,000 mi a year is ridiculous. My MYLR is 4 months old and I have 8,000 miles on it already. With so few miles allowed your savings on gas is negligible. 10,000 miles a year is 833 miles a month. If your ICE car gets 30 mpg then your total fuel cost for 833 miles is about $90 a month. Most leases charge $0.25 for each additional mile driven so I guarantee that any savings you think you are getting will be consumed by those extra mileage charges.
