Yep I indeed do know about the Scandal of Showdown many years ago
about phasing moves against xerneas it is quite common for Pokemon like primal Groupon to whirlwind xerneas and remove it's boosts but ingrain rest xerneas is definitely not used because taking a turn(which are very important) to recover like 6% health is really bad which is why using a specific set to "coincidentally" perfectly counter your opponent who probably had whirlwind to phase out xerneas
