hmmmmm "Democracy is at stake" sounds like a campaign slogan. It can easily be substituted with '"our Political Agenda is at stake." Maybe Democracy would no longer be at stake if the average American learned who their local, state or Federal Representatives are and how they voted, on any issue. - EVER.
As to whose fault it is, that´s a tricky issue, is it the fault of having an education system that teaches obedience rather than critical thinking, is it people´s fault for being gullible, is it a little of both.

One problem is that it´s very hard to reason people out of a stance, if they didn´t get there by reason in the first place, and that´s very much the case with Trump supporters.

I wonder if Trump really has any real ideaology or commitment to Project 2025 or the Heritage Foundation? This makes me think of the 2nd Batman movie when the Criminal Gangs aligned with The Joker. He's a stupid oaf who'd rather play golf and hold rallies to inflate his ego than do the actual dull beaurocratic work of government.
I don't mean to make light of this, it's still very bad, but mostly from incompetence, especially if a real Crisis arrises.
Oddly, we look to be on the cusp of an aggressive Hurricane season so maybe Biden can step out showing leadership to respond, unlike Trump tossing paper towel and moaning that looking after Puerto Rico was a nuisance.
I can't see how women continue to support this. Hopefully, women in swing and red states will hold their nose and vote blue this time. Low turnout on the blue side is another major threat.

He should be impeached now the laptop has been acknowledged to be real by the DOJ in Hunter's trial on gun charges.
It confirms the scale of the Biden family corruption corroborating the massive amount of evidence assembled by the Congressional committee investigating the issue.
It also means the letter written by 51 former and serving intelligence officials just prior to the 2020 election claiming the laptop was Russian disinformation whilst knowing it had already been authenticated by the FBI was direct election interference which should now be prosecuted as a felony. They should all be suspended and have security clearance removed pending trial.
It should also be remembered that Biden used the letter to try and deny the allegations of corruption during the presidential debates prior to 2020 election which was yet more lies.

I agree with everything Mr. Murphy says. As an Expat currently living in Mexico one good thing that could come out of Trump being president is that he might use the armed forces to combat the Mexican Cartels. Most people do not know that the Mexican government works for these Cartels.

Historic 'Fascism' was led by the former 'Socialist', Benito Mussolini who proclaimed that "We Fascists bury liberal economics!"
Mussolini's Fascist regime adopted elements of the socioeconomic theories of 'Corporatism' (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporatism) which was promoted as a 'Third Way' between 'Socialism' and 'Capitalism'. While private property was allowed all commerce and industry were to be restructured so as to make them directly subordinate to the 'State' (in Italy's case to a 'dictator').
What Trump would represent is 'Authoritarian Neo Liberalism', which unlike Fascism, has its economic system ALREADY in PLACE!!!

I wish we had politicians in the UK with as much passion and social conscience as Bernie.
