Hey all. I know this video is a disaster. I had a stressful day at work and just couldn't get my thoughts together. It's hard to go back and put all this stuff in coherent order. I have so many experiences from those days it's hard to know where to even start. I assume the majority of you are exJW anyway so you know what I'm getting at. I'll do my best to organize my thoughts better in part II. 🥺
For anyone listening too young to remember the background of having the bookstudy arrangement: We were told that when the system of things started going downhill and the great tribulation kicked off, the bookstudy would be the channel for us to receive direction. It was drilled into us to make sure our contact information was always up-to-date with our bookstudy overseer. And we would have to rally around our bookstudy group and rely on one another. So it was kinda a big deal for us to stay close to our bookstudy. For those too young to really remember, the bookstudy really was a big deal.
Yes indeed! I experienced this in the 1990's as a convert when they harped on the old book study arrangement in this way as we had the Grand Climax Revelation book plowed into our brains. Every Friday in Chicago for me from 1992-1995 with a "goody night" once a month to pacify us!😧🫠🤣
Your a man of many talents Collin ,bagpipes ,guitar and singing .What the 80,s were to you ,the 60,s were to me ,I was born in 1961 . You got baptised 24 Sept 1995 aged 14 ,I got baptised 14 April 1996 aged 35 ,about the same age as you were when you left in 2014 aged 32 ,33 ,2014 was the year I 1st woke up aged 53 ,and I dissociated in 2018 aged 57 . I remember complaining to a 70 yo sister in 1990 aged 29 about turning 30 in 1991 next year .She said you,ll never grow old in this system ,I,m now 63 and that sister is now 104 if she still is alive ????
@@anthonymalfino1 yeah I know. It's just that I have so many experiences and stories I don't even know where to start, and I've told the story like 100 times 🤣. Everyone tells me to do Six Screens, but nope. I'm a hold out. I'll try to concentrate more in part II.
Hey Collin, keep up what you're doing. It's working really well. I wish the best for you and your family. I'm so happy that you reconnected with your precious daughter. Cherish every moment with her. Much love to you all.
This was great to watch and listen too. You brought back SO MANY memories of what young life was like when I was a teen JW. I'm a female and was raised in it my wish was to learn to play the piano 🎹 AND the drums. I loved all the bands you mentioned from the 50s,60s, all the way through the 90s. I never got to do that. But left and once my daughter told me she wanted to play Bass. When she was in the 5th grade, bought her a bass guitar, an amp, and took her to lessons to learn. She only went for 4 lessons. Her first concert was a Spashing Pumpkins concert. I took her and two of her friends and I bought earplugs for them and me and they laughed. They ended up using theirs but I never used mine. I don't think they realized how loud it would be.GREAT MEMORIES!❤
Remember when the AIDS scare first hit in the early 80's. Oh my god the panic ,if you even LOOKED at a homosexual you wood turn into a pillar of salt. My congregation was still recovering from the 75' debacle and they took that ball and ran with it!l
I do. And in fact you can still see the residual effect from that in the elders' manual where it was the elder's choice weather or not he would baptize a person with aids, but they had no problem doing it in a private hotel room. They were so hateful and repelled by people with AIDs that they made it look like a "loving arrangement from Jehovah". I always said, if you're so afraid of getting AIDs, why would you baptize someone in a private pool, but not openly at a convention? It's because they hate homosexuals!!!
Broke my heart when you mentioned your family shunning 💔💔… so glad you reconnected with your daughter ….by the way It’ll be cool if you bring Scotland to Honduras bro 🇭🇳🇭🇳🙌🏻
There are so many details in the story of a born in & all the minutiae involved in how we came to wake up that its really hard to tell the story in a focused way. We need a freaking book! But I love details, so ramble away. A person is so much more than a story. I always feel bad when people complain or you apologize for your videos. I enjoy them exactly as they are. I like real people in real places. Bread! Love Bread. Keltic is neat too. Have you seen the tv series Outlander? I love the intro music. My daughter has been to Scotland & loved it, except she said the food was terrible, lol. We would have loved that Barns & Nobles! What is better than books & kawfee? Well,...maybe motorcycles & horses!
when my grandpa passed couple years ago he had kept writing the numbers down of attendance on a paper, basically showing there should be nobody left from 1914. I never heard him talk about that paper though. might add more thoughts later yesss the conventions were like vacation for me also
Do Eddie Van Halen's "Eruption/You Really Got Me" outside the kingdumb hall with a little David Lee Roth on vocals. Or "Runnin' with the Devil" from 1978 would be a good JW people repellant!😧😉
@@andracadicecrawford4256 Damn, that's right. And it's so bland, just "Good", you could never get any better than that. Not excellent or outstanding, just Good.
I was so "zealous" and indoctrinated as a newbie 21 year old naive convert in 1993 that before i was even baptized they used me as a "reader" for the congregation book study for the Revelation book and the Greatest Man Who ever Lived books. I had a couple of theocratic school talks i did, one back school, one front main school, before i was made an unbaptized publisher in May 1993, took another year for me to baptize at the Romeoville Assembly hall outside of my hometown Chicago.
The Mayo Clinic is in Rochester, Minnesota, right? A lot of the Wisconsin witnesses here where im at now still go to Rochester fir the big 3-day one instead of going to Green Bay in May. My last one was in 2017.
@@valkiv3285 yep. Bookstudies were to prepare us for the great tribulation. When the governments closed down the kingdom halls we were to continue meeting secretly in our bookstudy groups.
You said you all were raised living in northern Minnesota? I know JT & Lady Cee of the Critical Thinkers channel said they resided in Duluth, Minnesota for a time.
Maybe you could do a video, a solid 15 minutes, of rattling off every musical group from 1962-1999😆Just busting your agates lol. Nice job on the video, don't worry about a little rambling, it's from your heart.
