Thank you so much guys! From a kid who spent his teenage years flying Falcon 4.0 to an old dad who has found that passion again in BMS! I get lost in this sim for hours!

@@jrgenkauling8269 honestly falcon BMS is such an in depth sim it’ll take a year to be proficient in it, which is a lot of the fun. I’ll stick with it 👍
@@jrgenkauling8269 It is, in aircraft systems, sounds, variety of aircraft, but when it comes to depicting a modern high end conflict it doesn't come close to Falcon BMS.
@@LupusAries I wonder - does BMS really simulate a fully-fledged dynamic combined arms battleground campaign for each side? How comprehensible does the ai generate results?
This is actually one of the greatest trailers for a flight sim I’ve ever witnessed. Heck, it might even be the greatest.

I'm newly retired and cant wait to start flying again. Thanks BMS for all the hard work. I still have my original binder and disc from '98.
I know it detracts from the realism, but try playing a campaign with the labels on. This will give you a better appreciation for the scope of the campaign engine. You get to see all the ground units and troop movements. Its incredible!!

Such an Incredible leap from Falcon 4.0... You would never know it was based on this original sim if you did not need to have it to install BMS 4.36

Been playing this since allied falcon came out and it just keeps getting better, though I am a little bit older now!
Really looks good. I've been flying Falcon/BMS since 1999 with 4.0. This is a step forward and narrows the visuals gap between 4.35 and DCS, but I have to wonder if a transition to Unreal Engine 5 (or 6) might be in the future for BMS. As good as these updated graphics are, there are places where they reveal their limitations.

yeah, like the terrain... I don't think it's easy to find a readily available engine that fits the bill, requirements of flight sims are very unique. The current engine has the benefit of not being demanding and free, replace that with a modern one and everyone has to update their hardware (and pay for the new game, tho it's not a big issue) ;)
@@no_fb it depends, bms for the graphics it has is pretty heavy.

They do, and it's actually more convincing. :) The F16 is still EA and there's the usual stability issue of DCS, but otherwise every feature is more advanced.

@@MultiJp51 Yes, but i thought, that a player can do the JTAC job inside bms 4.36. I tested it some minutes ago and it seems, that only a friedly KI unit can do this job.

Can you use quest 2 to view the cockpit? God I remember playing this game when I was 7, had no idea what I was doing but I think I might have a better idea now 😄

Firstly: It's incredible what the BMS team has done with Falcon 4. Absolutely amazing work.
Having just installed BMS after years of playing DCS - it's not even the graphics quality which I miss most from DCS, it's the UI! Assigning keybinds with a Virpil HOTAS is proving to be a nightmare. Those keyfiles are just horrific, and anything complicated runs into what seems to be a DX 32 key wall? No idea, but it's absolutely horrible. Not to mention working with the tiny little UI tucked up into the top left corner of the screen on a 4K resolution monitor when not 'in game'.....at least the 3D world runs well, and the simulation is really solid.
It was quite nostalgic breaking out my original Falcon 4 CD for the install (I got a big binder for the manual with my copy! Was that normal?).....only to remember I no longer have a CDROM. Thank goodness for torrents....
you need to use Alternative Launcher to set up your hotas, it's as intuitive as in DCS :)
For UI (for now ;)), you can use the zoom function of windows to make it bigger
@@MultiJp51 It seems the BMS team does have the alt launcher dev on-board, so maybe they will incorporate it into the main release at some point.
@@zorn2017 i confirm chihiro is dev member now. Interestingly we didn’t think about integrating the alt launcher . Let’s do this p

How i can get this ?
I think it is difficult to compare DCS to Falcon BFM. Is BFM a more realistic F-16 experience than DCS? Of course! But only because that is what BFM is strictly focused on; that one plane. If BFM has more to offer than just a realistic F16 experience(flight physics, operating systems, etc.) I think it would then be more appropriate to compare the two. Even with it's flaws, I still believe DCS brings more to the table when it comes to simulation of combat, and the flight dynamics of the Block 50 F-16 have been updated and it flies a lot better than it did before. Just my opinion. No need for arguments. Discussions welcome. 😎

how does the BMS falcon compare to the DCS F-16 ??
BMS is the most realistic F-16 simulator available to home users. Realism can mean many things, ranging from avionics and flight characteristics, to weapon performance and procedures. Across all aspects though, even assuming that DCS' F-16 is feature complete, BMS is either more realistic or on-par with DCS, and the only thing that DCS has over it is graphics.
Also keep in mind that BMS has other blocks of the F-16 available, whereas DCS only has the Block 50.

depends on what you are looking for. In short : If you like fancy graphics and fly MP only , DCS. If you like beeing a F16 pilot in a fulls cale war in a real detailed mil type environement , then BMS is for you. Beware of the steep learning curve though :)

I understand this is ruthlessly brazen. but will there ever be a Hornet? many will leave DCS for this.
The F-18 is here but with F-16 avionics...
It will take years before we can simulate a complete new aircraft... (if someone takes the task...)
There's been a side effort from a group of folks on the forum, to improve and maintain the flight-model and cockpits for the legacy Hornet and Rhino / Growler. Within the constraints of what can be done, without code changes -- it's still fundamentally F-16 avionics (radar, master modes, stores, the MFDs etc). With a few tweaks to the HUD layout and FCS behavior..
I don't know how much of that is in the box for 4.36, or if it will continue to be a side project / mod.

@@arithex Hornet is not only a flight model and appearance, there are most questions in avionics and systems. 2 fundamentally different machines. Although of course it's insanely cool that in the game about the F-16, someone somehow supports the F-18

VR maybe with vorp x it has direct VR and you will need open track

When did BMS switched terrain system?
Never. It is not possible. The game engine cannot be changed. It would be easier to implement a new simulator from the scratch.

If only FS2020 wasn't an actual thing.
It has no combat capability, and F4 is everything around its Dynamic Campaign. So that's comparing apples with Celsius scale.
