🤔 NEW HERE? 🤔
Hi! My name is Christopher Odd and I’ve been playing video games on the internet for a few years. I really enjoy a variety of games but generally lean towards games with a unique and engaging story (Bioshock, The Witcher, etc), strategy/roguelike games (XCOM 2 War of the Chosen, Darkest Dungeon, etc), and RPGs (Dark Souls, Dragon Age, etc). Of course, I am always looking for great indie games too!

I have a longing worse than any i ever experienced before for Bloodlines 2
you forgot to say Fullscreen lol

Two takeaways from this episode. 1. Odd never read "A Midsummer's Night Dream" at school, and 2. Odd appreciates a well decorated shaft.
bang on both parts
Puck: What a fool this mortal be!
I mean, who doesn't appreciate a well decorated shaft?
Can't wait to see more of this!
By the way: Titania (Name on the lifeboat) is the wife of Oberon, king of the fairies in Shakespears's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
I am very happy that other people know about that little reference
Yes! i'm so excited you're playing this game! You're the only youtuber I wanted to watch this series from because I feel like you're the only one that actually cares about the story and every detail put into games ^^
Just found this playthrough and this RUclipsr, I really hope you're right cause I've yet to find anyone to really respect this game.
@@spoopyd.8910 So many let's players are more interested in the over the top jump scare reactions or funny commentary they can make, their persona comes before the games and the stories within them; certain games need certain moods to really get into. If it's not the latest indie-game craze that's gonna 'get ya' or a super popular triple A game, good luck finding a competent Let's Player.
Anyways, loving the game so far, keep it up :D
Ah perfect. Setting the vibe to soft white light, hot cocoa and a bed sheet.
This sounds reasonable!
I get the feeling the innsmouther did deliberately kill throgmorten, as he chased him and didn’t act the same as the other fisherman who was very clearly effected by the hysteria whereas Lewis was not
Yeah, same feeling.
I thought exactly the same. The others acted in self defence whereas Lewis seemed more deliberate and planned.
actually, if you go back and watch the following scene you see that Louis was already having symptoms of hysteria.
Lewis said something along the lines of "I didn't mean to do what I did", which implies a guilty conscience... For me at least
@@NameLessSayLess Also, the first guy you interviewed doesn't remember anything that happened during the attack. He questions whether or not he could have killed Paul. Meanwhile, Louis remembers everything, and has the motive to kill Albert, with a convenient excuse of the hysteria to back him.
These game choices says a lot about your personality. While it is apparent the son caused some kind of psychic break you are making a giant stretch to claim they hung and hid the body while still under this influence. Epically when you don’t even know if the fishman dude can even be affected since he never mentioned hearing voices or showed the same side effects as the guy in the house.
Saw this on RUclips Recommendation with the Rad Brad--was thinking to myself, I'll watch this if Odd plays it. Here we are.......
I was thinking the same hahahah and here we are!
Brad's a shill like no other.
I started watching Brads playthrough. Not my style at all.
Brad is just annoying at this point, plays every damn game and isn’t even remotely funny/interesting
I watched all of his playthrus of this game so far but it was irratating cuz he kept missing so much stuff and had to go back for something. Idk he wasn't terrible but I was mostly desperate for this game so I dealt w it lol
I was waiting so much for you to make this gameplay!
me too dude!
Same, man. As soon as I saw the trailer I thought "I can't wait for Chris to play this!"
“You’re a fan of yellow!”
Could that clue be dropped any more ham-fistedly?
Herr Konig I see you like yellow
@@jonathanpickles2946 have you seen the yellow sign?
No mask?
Lewis said something like "take this you filthy ape!" when he first shot Albert, so Im pretty sure he was not influenced by anything
Does the influence make him mute or something?
@@oussamalamhamdialaoui178 If you played CoC: Dark Corners of Earth, i think you agree this Fish guys are bad... And this sound like cover up of what Albert was found in ocean... 🤔
@@oussamalamhamdialaoui178 No, but they do tend to babble incoherently rather than form easily understood sentences. Me thinks the Innsmouther GUILTY.
Besides, from what I've read of Lovecraft's works, the fishmen of Innsmouth turned into fishmen because of their cult which is actively trying to awaken at least one eldritch deity. So yeah, from my understanding the fishpeople in Lovecraft's works are ALL evil.
If it helps, Lewis was strong-arming other people, he's a simple thug, threatening the bartender.
Christopher ''I'm a private investigator, but I'm also a thief'' Odd.
I didn't even see the video and insta-liked it. I asked for you to play this game and it seems to have worked... By far my favourite youtuber!
"Where's your Oberon, huh Titania." Titania is a character in William Shakespeare's comedy, A Midsummer Nights Dream. Titania is the Queen of the fairies, Oberon is her husband, the king of the fairies.
Saw the trailer for this and thought 'damn that's exactly the sort of game I'd love to watch Christopher Odd play' and here we are!
First character encountered, dressed in yellow, acknowledges his fondness for it.
... It's the damned King in Yellow, isn't it?
Doesn't help the fact that he invited us here to help "investigate" findings of his half-brother, Cthulhu. You know, the same half-brother who he extremely despises.
You're the only RUclipsr I've watched so far who's actually paying attention to the story. You let the dialouges play out and give relevant commentary. So satisfying!
I don’t usually comment on videos but like I need more of this ASAP I am i n v e s t e d
Odd: This gonna be trippy!
Hello, this Lovecraft travel agency, we love to craft you a memorable vacation!
Great video as always :). Although i don't think homeboy Lewis was crazy: bullet to the head, put body on a hook, didnt mention any voices or dreams like the other guy, seemed way too lucid compared to the other dude too who was grabbing his head in pain... but it is cool that it's not quite black and white
And he mentioned that the Insmouthers were blessed by the sea, maybe they are immune or at least resistant to the hysteria
@@kzizzles8329 Exactly what I thought. The kill was too neat to be an act of hysteria and his description of the madness didn't match the testimony from his roommate. And then there's the words he spoke in the vision. Even if you were to disregard the possibility that Innsmouthers are more resistant to the madness due to their eldritch mutations, it stands to reason that Lewis's actions were his own. The hysteria's influence was marginal at best.
Damn these Insmouthers! Coming in our city and stealing all our jobs, and since they came the crime rate sky-rocketed too!
22:00 Here is what I got from looking at that green substance. The red bar is health obviously and the blue bar is sanity. Obviously you should make sure your sanity doesn’t reach zero.
By the way, In lovecraft mythos theres an elder god named Hastur, the king in yellow, known for shape shifting and deception. Im sure you can connect the dots here
Oh, that's interesting. Especially since the "Johannes" at 7:45 sounds suspiciously like "your highness"...
Yea I was like hhhmmmmm sounds legit
I sensed this game was connected to lovecraft somehow.
Trusting someone with the innsmouth look is a good way of showing you never read Lovecraft's story about them. I recommend it highly it's called "Shadow of Innsmouth".
I’m playing this game and I’m wondering if that was just love craft being racist, I like his books I just know he’s racist and biased so I’m not sure
He wasn’t racist because there was no such thing as racism when he was alive. He just believed what everybody else did
@@mshat18 what a moronic take. Ya know Lovecraft lived in the early 1900's right? And even if he lived in the 1500's it would still be racist.
@@snakebolt2459 Just for the record, despite the fact that Lovecraft was biased, Deep Ones are just his interpretation of merfolk (Deep Ones are above humanity in original book and everyone who will become a Deep One is happy about that). The only trace of actually biased mind is that race inbreeding is wrong. Science community's opinion, not only mine.
@@snakebolt2459 Also, read the comics "The Deep Eater" and webcomics "The Shadows Over Innsmouth" and "Innsmouth". It's modern and deconstruction of original book. And just for the record, Deep Ones are one of the most positive characters in Lovecraft's world. Mostly have different morals.
Yellow suit....The guy's A King in Yellow. :p
I guess it gets lonely in Carcosa.
Johannes van der Berg, with his predilection for garish fashion, especially his suit, a strange hue of yellow... one might call it royal. Does his "book club" commonly read plays? And what might he have to do with the "royal family" Robert Throgmorton's father supposedly "united" with?
Lewis Flynn mentioned the characteristic Innsmouth-look. What connection might they have with the Order of Dagon? And how Deep does it run?
I was checking to see if you had added any new playlists recently, saw "Innsmouth," though "LOVECRAFT!" and had to smile. This looks very cool - thank you for playing it!
I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE PLAYING THIS. seriously. Time and time again I am reminded why I love your playthroughs. You actually take your time, read notes (and don't make me pause every five seconds to read them on my own 🙄) and get invested in the story. I already started watching this game on another channel and literally said out loud, "I hate this and wish Odd would pick it up." The gaming gods have granted my wish.
I was waiting for this one. Shout out to Odd for always delivering.
AHHH, i love this!! i'm so glad you started playing it and it's good for my soul that you made sure you got all the evidence everywhere. thank you for satisfying my obsessive-compulsive lil heart! you're fast becoming one of my favorite youtubers, the fact that you prefer story-driven stuff just makes me so darn happy.
Mr Throghmorton : What happened here defies any scientific explanation.
Me : Have you look at yourself in a mirror lately?
Fantastic! Super intriguing story. I'm so glad you take the time to read everything. I started watching another RUclipsr and got rather discouraged by no reading of the letters etc. which in these types of games is super important. I know we can always pause the video, but it feels rushed and not very introspective which this game really needs. I would have made the same decisions as you did. I felt that turning Lewis over to Mr. Throgmorton would be a mistake and undoubtedly fatal for Lewis. Seems that there would be no trial or searching for truth in this town! Plus its not apparent to me that Lewis is actually guilty because of the method of cold blooded murder then the coverup. Still Lewis will have to hide for the rest of his days, change his name, or move away now that the detective blabbed his name! Can't wait to see what happens next - thanks Mr. Odd!
The guy in yellow. As someone who considers themselves versed in the mythos: lol I see what you are doing there, game.
6:23 we're talking to an avatar of The King in Yellow aren't we?
8:58 chances are yes, we are indeed talking to such a power. Wonder what about us has caught their interest.
I mean, his outfit (which we can unlock) is literally called "The King's Robes". so yeah, pretty sure it's him.
ODD! I knew you're not a snitch man! so proud of u to cover for the guy, im pretty sure there's an affliction going around and albert was the harbinger!
I am not one to normally post, but I have to say you are by far my favorite RUclipsr. Every game I enjoy to play you post. It is quite fortuitous on my part. I think we were separated at birth. I have never found anyone who likes the obscure, story-driven games as much as I do until I found your channel a year ago. Please, keep up the amazing work. If you enjoy this game Mr. Odd then try Call of Cthulu. It is another sleuth/choose your own adventure type game like this in the same H.P. Lovecraft universe.
Oberon and Titania are the quarreling fairie royal couple from A Midsummer’s Night Dream! They are what set the whole play in motion!
I watched someone else play this first case and knew within the first few minutes that the game would be right up your alley. Glad to see you playing it!
Oh I am so STOKED for this, you can feel the vibe from here. I've been practically starving for a good mystery game. Vibe set, lets go!!
Titania was Queen of the faeries, Oberon her King in Shakespeares "A Midsummers Night Dream"
As always Chris, love watching your episodes! You really let me know which games I should be buying! And your choices are always good!
perhaps the hysteria affects Innsmouthers differently, since they're more connected to the sea, which is the suspected source of the madness
Yes! I was hoping you were going to play this. Thanks for the video
I turned the lights off to set the vibe, but it's midday so...
Ah yes the mystical adventures of Sherpollock. I'm calling it now - Morayarty is behind all of this.
I love Throgmorton's voice. 😍
Love that your videos come out right before my lunch break at work 😄
I plan it that way!
I was really hoping that you'll make videos for this game. Keep it up!
Super excited your giving this a look. Setting the Vibe!
YES! I was thinking about sending you a tweet, asking you... nay DEMANDING hehehe, you play the Sinking City! LOL I just saw a little bit of it on another channel and was really hoping you would pick it up. It looks very intriguing and totally up your alley!!!!!!

Andros "i'll be waiting for you STAR FOX!"
I love Odd cause he plays stuff you don't see. And he just seems like a cool dude, and we both ride Motercycles 😃
Hey, Odd! I'm so glad you're playing and uploading this. I think you're the best person on youtube to play it. About the game, some interesting things: Devil's Reef - name of the reef where the older fishlike dudes dwell or come from in "The Shadow over Innsmouth". At the end of the novella the city is burnt, so the game creates a nice storyline from what happened there to now, with these refugees, who had to leave Innsmouth, that "queer kind of a town at the the mouth of the Manuxet". This game seems to be great and very well thought in its relationship to the work of Lovecraft. Anyway, always great to watch your gameplay. Best regards from Brazil and may Azathoth bless you. Tekeli-li!
The boat is named Titania, Oberon and Titania were the fairy king and queen in shakesphere's Midsummer Night's Dream
i love the way you talking in your letsplays
came here from your Last of us videos (i have watched them few years ago, but like to rewatch)
you're great!
Very nice, I’m pumped! Let’s do this!
thank you for doing a thorough playthrough.. I watched another playthrough and the guy missed out stuff and just scrambled stuff together lol without taking time to learn about how to play
Cool walkthrough. I like your style)
Quality playthrough with you, Christopher
For some reason this actually brings back memories of that old game Alone In The Dark. That had Lovecraft and Cthulu themes as well didn't it?
It's interesting to watch someone who isn't too familiar with Lovecraft play this game. The moment the Innsmouther claimed he was effected by the madness of Albert, I knew he was full of shit. Innsmouther aren't effected by "Dagon's Madness" like other people, and are in complete control of their senses. It'll be interesting to see what other decisions you'll make in further episodes.
Cheers dude. Been a while since a Lovecraftian game
Omg I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you for playing this game!!! I’m so happy and thrilled!!! Did I say thank you? 😺😺😺
I found your play through of the Witcher 3 and have taken to watching it every day. (I've watched about 100 hours of it) I'm glad you have such a large library of titles you play. I appreciate your light use of profanity because my son watches sometimes too. He gets mad when people swear on RUclips haha
Not gunna lie, I fuckin love all the more subtle nods to the Mythos there. References to the Innsmouth residents being refugees which in implies that in this iteration of the Mythos the US Army raid on Innsmouth is cannon. The Devils Reef Hotel, referencing a location in Innsmouth. Throgmorton openly implying that he might be part Mythos ape-man. List goes on.
I can already sense the dread coming...this is going to be fun.
Oberon and Titania. William Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream! :)
1:10:00 this dialoged has me sold
I thabk you for playing this i wanted to get this game but last lovecraftian game i was hyped up for call of cthulu and sort let down from the promises that was made so im glad see you play it before i buy it.
Awesome! Can't wait to watch more of this! Thanks:)
Me: Ok, so man in yellow is our usual omi-present npc.
Odd: Ok, so he's sketch!
first time on your channel, very well narrated video...great content, subbed !
So many Lovecraft references in one game! Yeee!🤣
"Where's your Oberon, huh Titania?" Is a reference to Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, wherein Oberon is king of the faeries. Titania is his estranged wife.
Titiana, is Fairy Queen of the Aen Shae, she's the queen of summer, and Oberon, is called the Fairy Rogue King, he is the one from the Witch: Wild Hunt, he leads the Wild Hunt. Even though it is odd, because both Titiana, and Mab, her sister, who is the queen of winter, are always depicted as the same person. There are three Ladies of summer and winter. The Mother, the Queen, and the Lady, though like the differences of both summer and winter, they are one and the same.
OK. I'm in for the long haul. Loving the scenery
Serious king in yellow energy from Johanese
Yea damn Hastur cultist.
Dan Morris Or Hastur himself.
20:15 Titania and Oberon were the queen and king of the fairies in “A Midsummer Nights Dream.”
I've been waiting for you to play this! >_
i really think lewis murdered him on purpose :O the apeson was hanging on a hook :O
So good to be back~!
This seems both very cool, but also a little too far out there for me to play on my own. Gonna be watching it all for sure though!
THIS IS SO GOOD, I NEED MORE, I NEED IT ALL AAAH
Meet Johannes, instantly suspect the influence of Hastur
2:23 in the morning in Australia... eh, who needs sleep😅
Seems like the perfect time to watch this, no?
The Retrocognitive part looks a lot like Return of the Obra Dinn.
Its Colonel Mustard in the Boat with the Mirror ? :p Hehehhehehe That dude in the yellow suit looks like a Colonel mustard :P

Awesome work!🤟 Game of Lovecraft Universe what I needed so bad lately.🙂
It would be great if this series could be about an 45-60 min long (Of course if it's not bothering you much, and of course this is just a suggestion of mine).😊😋
Watching since XCOM2, and still didn't regret of being subbed to Your channel.
Thank you for all hard work!🤟🥰
When Chris says, "Oakmont, Mass." instead of Massachusetts....
In other news, I'm stoked about this playthrough and looking forward to your storytelling!
It was probably a bit if each; neither choice being completely wrong. The hysteria probably brought out the hatred he already had. And, he never once said that he regretted what he had done.
Feel like he should be taking picture every chance like the creature the body incase they get moved.
Mind Palace? I can't be the only one who immediately thought of Sherlock :o lol
57:23 wow Chris, wow. smh🤨 (not even I asked him that).😆
If I hadn't had that game on my wishlist already, I'd have it now. This looks really like a perfect Odd game!
How's the rest of the world treating you Julia?
@@ChristopherOdd Awww! Got my container packed and sealed today and three glorious weeks without a worry to look forward to. Biggest frustration is the very weak WLan in the holiday apartment :)
Only open question in my mind is, why couldn't you give Throgmorton his son's Will? Its their families and his son's dying wishes. Also lets the family know he was in to something... maybe it will be valuable later but the player should have had to option to give it to the father in my mind. Very interesting series and really stoked that you'll be playing it! Watched part of other tubers and was underwhelmed at their acuity. :)
loved the gameplay please keep it coming
As soon as van der Berg showed up at the start I started having flags go off XD Anyone familiar with Chambers' The King in Yellow?
so the king started to show itself in that bright yellow color XD.
