    I opened my Indri Trini this week and was struck by its very inviting nose, fruity, aromatic exotic. The impression on the palate is fruit cup, not citrus or overtly dark and heavy, so not big on the weight of sherry. No smoke but underlying sweetness which brings softness, a warming spice, and something of cucumber because it made me think of Pims. Definitely excellent. It will become very popular especially if they maintain a competitive price.

    Brilliant review, Jon! I love the Indri and was thrilled to also get a bottle to review. Having mostly tasted blended Indian whiskies in the past, this single malt expression was a delicious change of pace. Cheers!

    "Feel free to send me all the whisky all the time" said every whisky drinker, ever. 😂 They got this bottle out to a lot of people and i haven't heard a single bad thing about it. It seems they are very confident in their product Glad to hear its a great one Jon. I'll be looking to pick up a bottle. Cheers 🥃

      It should be hitting our shelves soon. The distributor indicated AB and BC first in Canada. I thought it was cool they decided to hit up RUclips more than mainstream media. Gutsy, but it is good, so I think it worked. Cheers!

    I never tried Indri, but I had Rampur a few years ago, and I liked it... Should I stumble upon a bottle of Indri in my travels, I will most probably buy it on the spot.

    Hallo Jon...attempting this again!
    There are very few Indian whiskies available here, (do I sound like a broken record?)...but the Trini is definitely one I will be watching for.
    We're heading out tomorrow for a well deserved trip to a friend's cottage up on The Bruce. When you have your own business it's hard to find time, so you can imagine how much we're looking forward to it! I'm taking some of my as yet unopened bottles with me. Can't wait to try and enjoy!
    By the way Craighellachie 13 just took the Scotch Whisky Masters World's Best Scotch award for 2023. That's one prestigious accolade! Am I ever glad that when I'm only allowed a single whisky for the rest of my life, it's gonna be THAT one...HA!!
    Cheers my friend,
    Marian 🇨🇦

      @@WhiskyNeighbour We're not quite into it yet, just a tiny hint of colour popping up here and there on a few trees. Another month probably, before the show really starts! Super ' blue moon ' tonight... won't be another like it now until 2037. Hope you get a chance to see it where you are! Cheers to cottage shenanigans 😜

    Available for $63 USD. Worth it. Rampur Asava is $90. Most Indian Single Malts are non chill filtered.

    • @WhiskyNeighbour
      @WhiskyNeighbour  Год назад +1

      That is a significant price jump. If that was the same here, I would bring home the Indri! Cheers!

      @@WhiskyNeighbour My local Total wine is closing out many Indian whiskies. Rampur Asava is now $70. The same distillery that makes Indri has a similar whisky called Kamet. Wonder how different is. Description of casks is similar: Aged in a combination of ex-bourbon, ex-wine (French oak) and ex-sherry casks (PX & Oloroso)! Is Indri Trini just a rebranding with better marketing?

    • @WhiskyNeighbour
      @WhiskyNeighbour  Год назад +1

      @DileepB I would need to try more research. I had not tried Kamet, so I cannot comment from a taste experience.

    • @DileepB
      @DileepB Год назад +1

      @@WhiskyNeighbour Doubt if you can find Kamet any more. Last release was in March 2021.
      Color: Indri is a darker brown. May be more time in Ex-sherry casks or higher percentage of sherry casks?
      Nose: Indri has a sweet sherry fragrance. Kamet has a more citrus nose.
      Palate: The sherry comes through with vanilla and caramel on Indri. Kamet has more oak and red wine tannins and cloves/cinnamon and other spices.
      With a few drops of water Kamet opens up more and Indri does not change much.

    Hi Jon, I've had the Indri for a few months now and paid about £40 for it which I believe to be a reasonable price. I thought it was a youthful spirit with a lot of cask influence and it is quite different from anything else I have. If you can buy at a reasonable price in your market then I wouldn't put you off from trying it. I'm halfway through the bottle and so far it's only a maybe if I shall replace the bottle. Slainte

    I have never tried an Indri. It sounds very nice. The only sherry, red wine combo that springs to mind right now is the Spaniard at that certainly works well.

    Hear a lot of good things about Indri and if I am not mistaken it won a few World Whiskies Awards in 2022. I have had Amrut, Paul John and will be on the lookout for Indri and also Rampur Double Cask specifically. Due to hot tropical climate, the whiskies age faster at those distilleries. Great whiskies coming out of India the last few years.
