#ResidentEvil4Remake #ResidentEvil4 #PS5
OFF = before washing your hair
ON = after washing your hair
Spot on lol
Just like subsurface scattering lol. OFF=no makeup, ON=makeup
Well... The oil in the hair makes it shine more. So...
OFF = after washing your hair
ON = before even taking a shower
Noticeable impact is that Off has this fake shining that is always present meanwhile On seems to be dynamic depending on the environment Leon is in.
The one issue with the ON setting or Medium and High strands is it's self shadowing seems to be poor.
I notice that too. The lack of better shadowing makes the ON setting more artificial
It looked better in the preview. I like it more without, because the hair is darker & less 'wiggy' looking. Although I would prefer his hair to be shorter like the original RE4. Thanks for this
Yeah I noticed in the original Re4 he has the sides cut
He was rockin a bob in the original one lol
@Brad Simi It was, but not like this one. His RE2 remake hair is closer to his original RE4 hair than this is. They should've just kept that & used the new technology on it. I'll wait for a mod 🙃
It looks it’s best in the preview video of after events of raccoon city, when he’s talking to the president. The back short but long as it goes toward the front.
Don’t know what happened there
It's like
Greasy vs freshly blowdried
But, ngl, on idle animations I think OFF looks more realistic
Sweat, rain and dirt would not leave hair as clean and individually parted as ON looks
off kinda looks a little bit more natural , also it saves a lot of performance
. .It's crazy , "Off-Hair also has animations than High-Strand"
edit: 0:52 pause from here
It looks good, but it makes his hair color too bright in certain environments.
yeah, it even looks white and glowing in dark areas sometimes, but enabling it makes the game look sharper and cleaner to me.
So true. Turning it on boost the IQ of the game, at least on PS5. Glad I'm not the only one that noticed.
Yeah hopefully it's ironed out by the time the game releases and won't look goofy like this
I think that's a bug
@@Solidsnake724 IQ?
Regardless of the effects. His hair looks way too blonde, his hair should be dark blonde or light brown. Graphics are off the charts though.
Yea, they had the hairstyle & color perfect in the RE2 remake, now we get this...🤨
@@rar3br33d6 Can't be as bad as RE Vendetta which is the opposite… his hair was almost black.
If you see in photo mode and zoom in it looks worse when it is on. Also looks like leon is wearing a wig when on, but looks nice in some cutscenes.
It looks so much better. The AA on the hair without it,is distracting.
it looks like he's wearing a wig even in gameplay. Strand hair looks awful
It looks better turned off
That's why it's not in use for trailers
No it doesn't. Especially on PS5. The AA on his hair on the PS5 is distracting without it.
@@Solidsnake724 AA?
It's working for all i got shots and video uploaded on my channel
@jojikun4221 The jaggies on his hair. Hair works clean's it up.
fyi this hair effect setting isnt only affecting on leon, but to all characters, including ashley, ada, luis etc who's included to cutscenes. good or bad? imo its bad, im picking on one of the character lets just say ada, her hair is designed to be limp, and its very realistic for an eastern asian to have limp hair, and when the setting is on, her hair become " buffy" and weird. you'll understand when you played it already. my suggestion is that for the best gameplay experience, you better not change any visual settings, like brightness/contrast or this hair setting. the game is looking sooooo fine even tho with no rtx on, mark my word. this game is meant to be dark, and for the best gameplay experience, let it be dark
This is another effect like ray tracing where I'm sure it's *technically* more realistic but, I can't honestly say that I think it looks "better" for what the render cost is.
I like it off, hair sits more naturally
Hair Strands Effect ON - саме волосся краще, але освітляється воно гірше, та в кінці кінців виглядає гірше в загальному кадрі.
ON = Looks fake as heck, too bright even in dark areas. Almost like a light bulb wig.
OFF = Looks natural.
I've been playing with it on. I prefer the physics but it's a shame it messes with Leon and Luis' hair colours
ist it just me or off looks better ?
No u are absolutely right off looks better and realistic lol.
@@Darkslayer1993so shiny plastic looking hair is realistic to u?
@@Zessifml in all the trailers his hair is off this option , when the demo dropped only then i noticed this option was turned on.
@@Zessifml No The on looks fake donkey not to mention that His hair lights up more in certain areas. I have 4090 so it doesn't matter to me if I on or off. But off looks better. Way better.
@@sarunas8638 mine was off by default
It moves better but looks better in certain situations
On the left, Leon has greasy hair 🤭
I would be happy if the effect is the same level of fifa next gen hair physic
Off 100% cause with it on, Leon decides to go super saiyan. Strands and Ray tracing are 100% gimmicks
Bro ! Yes! I knew i wasnt the only one thinkin super saiyan leon😂😂 w the effect on his hair looks golden
You are missing „4” in the video title Cycu :)
Fixed, thanks!
3:52 I see no difference
Bruh
Nice gimmick, what a shame it ends up looking worse...
shading looks fake with hair strands, kind of like dolls hair, I don't know why they are using the low version of hair strands, highest version has better shading yet I would recommend turning it off it looks fake when rainning (it doesnt get wet)
ON looks like he’s wearing a wig lol
Show RT on vs RT off
Glad everyone here seem to be on the same page that this setting should be off.
Unless they make it better.
Only affect protagonist ?
Tomb Raider 2013's tressFX is better
I can't even play it. It keeps crashing
PC? Lower the settings so the GPU usage indicator won't be yellow or red. Then it'll work fine.
@@Cycu1 no ps5
@@TheRealHmm delete and install demo again
@@jey1115 I did that it's my ps5 I bought a new one now I can play the demo
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Hair stands is in ps4 pro
Looks like grey hair
The thing is it's only work for Leon
Maybe in full game it's works for all characters
highly doubt it
@@crust5909 in that case you think they gave Leon realistic hairs and other characters look like from old gen
Maybe this will work for all characters i mean the main ones
it already has a somewhat noticeable perfomance impact for leon only, if they apply that to every single character on screen, the perfomance hit would be huge.
I think it should be available for Ashley, cuz it looks too silky & shiny for Leon Imo. I like his hair darker & rugged
New info hair strands works for main characters I saw it working on Ashley in review
i really can't like this on leon... with every other character it looks beautiful, but it's definitely a downgrade for him (me thinks)
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Turn on look like classic re4 leon
Why nobody talks about hair strand physics. It doesnt work. Not only shading is weird sometime. Also it doesnt move. It is just static :/ I think this is some kind of bug. Hope Capcom will fix shading and physic problem. Default hair reacts every movement, reacts wind and so on. If retail version will be like that, then OFF ofcourse. Why to give 20FPS something looks bad on every aspect :/
off looks better
it's like Hairworks and it looks just as bad
if your game is running like shit and you don't know why cuz you shelled out tons of money for your parts. this is why. shut it off
Hair is too bright 4/10 game
they fixed leons hair in a update now ON is the winner
idk bout yall but i physically cannot turn off the hair strands option, the models look so perfect when its at high
I like it better OFF, cuz it looks more textured and darker. The "realistic" hair looks too thin and yellow, despite being great at some moments. But OFF is definitely better.
Also it looks terrible in screenshots. Like it looks like straw...
Yeah, i think the same way, sometimes the hair is bright white and glow in the middle of the dark. I is not natural, off is better, but if they work better on it, maybe it could be a cool stuff. But currently not
It looks like someone tied rope to his head but off makes it more realistic
ON is way better, on off hair looks pixeled, very bad...
@@payphone151 Off has more depth though, and as someone said, it glows in the middle of the dark. Plus, the rain doesn't have an effect with the hair strands on.
I actually prefer it off, I like the shiny look.
If you pause in the middle of 4:23 frame, when Leon turn his head to the left, you can see why ON is better and consume more FPS. Hair strands in motion become indeed much more realistic.
remember the pre-rendered cut scene when Leon's getting military training and his hair waves around. I thought to myself "man it would be so cool if the in game render did this". To my surprise, it does! but it's kind of hard to notice sometimes.
It’s very noticable. When turned on the hair always seems more naturally fluid in motion. Cutscenes against Big Cheese and Del Lago are very noticeable it’s amazing
It looks good in cutscenes
5:39 Is it just me or the Strands ON affects the amount of visible fog? (there seems to be less fog with the ON option).
I think the fog is randomized because its animated. Look at the bonfire.
Leon's hair beats fog. It's a matter of hierarchy.
Is it just me or the lighting on the hair is bit off with the effect on? The hair look overly bright even in dark areas. I think the best implementation of the hair strand system is in Spider-Man games on PS5.
The hair looks incredible in Miles Morales with Fidelity mode on. (It looks a tiny bit more like RE4:Remake with Performance mode on!)
It's not just you.
We all seen it.
PS5 uses the "low" version of this setting, that's why it looks kinda bad at places and I would advise just turning it off for the looks and performance's sake. PC on the other hand has a "high" option and it looks amazing.
Not me with Spanish being silly with 1 of the scenes:
Necesito apoyo - I need help
Necesito a pollo - I need chicken
Yea i deff prefer it off, with it on he looks like super saiyan leon😂😂
Amazing game
Couldn’t give a shit about hair
All I want to know is can he keep wearing the jacket throughout the whole game?
No unless you beat the game
The effect is awful
I remember when the difference between consoles was huge. Now we have these kind of differences.
These are both on PS5
think what the last generation (ps4) can STILL offer, imagine what it will be like when this generation (PS5) is in its final phase in 5 more years
Hype
🤩🤩🤩
Haha this is what gaming has becoming , remakes and hair strand options
Can someone tell if enable the special effect for the hair has any impact on the performance ?
It absolutely does.
Just got done testing out the PS5 version and it varies from the high 40s to 60 fps. The dips are more prominent when outside compared to being inside a cabin.
@@Orion_The_Merchant Uh, it doesn't. Only in Graphics Mode, without it it's 52-56 with RayTracing. Performance Mode with Ray Tracing and Hair Strands is stable 60 with drops to 58 at best at the Village. It has a big impact on PC however.
@@StabVariation
Ah, I should have specified that when you have everything enabled (Graphics Mode + Ray Tracing) it seems to have an effect on the performance. Glad to hear though that it works well on Performance Mode + Ray Tracing though.
Any idea what each mode runs at? I think performance is like 1440p while Graphics should be a dynamic 4k, right?
@@StabVariation It absolutely does have an effect on performance in all modes. The opening forest area in Performance mode *without* RT is a locked 60 (the only way to get a locked 60 in that area)- just enabling hair strands alone drops that into the 50's.
It's certainly possible that over the course of the game it's relative impact on frame rates will be minimal sure, but if it has a visible performance impact on the least demanding mode of the game, it clearly causes a higher GPU load. If it had no effect on performance it would make no sense to have it as a togglable option, it would just default to the higher quality mode from the outset.
You expect graphical features with no performance downside?
