    One thing yiou can do with those lower strut bolts. When you loosen the nuts. Leave the socket on the nut. Hit that with a hammer instead of the nut :) If no air hammer is around . But Cheers Grim Repair. Love all your videos :)

    Absolutely agree! Having quite a bit of knowledge in the back of the brain that just hasn’t been consistently used in a while it’s nice to find someone who is exactly as you say, direct, concise, worded perfect for us above average man, jack of all trades, who are humble about it! Am I right my guys?! Point is much thanks for the handful of videos. I need to work along with as I start my project of repairing and getting an 05 Lacrosse Rd., ready and as top notch as she can be from the control arms throat all of the steering suspension hubs, knuckles brakes up to defenders radio and interior get her road ready get back to stackin in life and when I not if but when I have finally got her on the road for a while sent her off too a proper funeral when I win the marsh field ma demo when it’s the lacrosse’ time and the end my rant completely dig and was officially finally inspired and convinced not too care what anyone says too doubt or hate even this many years into RUclips creators I’m gonna begin my page and take everyone through the journey of the repair and refine “Lucy” the lacrosse! Big props too your work and your creative and perfect username GrimRepair!!!👊👍👌🙌 wish me luck lads and gents! And this and that’s and thems 🤣

    well done vid, very helpful...I get to tackle this job on my '07 Lacrosse...I know the strut/coil spring combos are very popular for their convenience, but keep in mind that you're not getting OEM struts with these packages...if you're planning on keeping you vehicle for several more years, that might make a difference...

    I have a few questions for you.. will a 2009 lacrosse be the same? Will I have to have a collapsing tool? Also my car has 87000 on it. It's not bouncy or anything just got oil change and the inside of both back tires are wore? They said it was struts

    • @GrimRepair
      @GrimRepair  Год назад

      Since they actually looked at your car I am going to assume they know if you need them. Strut manufacturers recommend they be replaced every 50,000 miles. If you get the whole assembly with the spring already installed you won't need to compress the spring. That's what I would recommend as the spring is also old, and it is easier and safer to install. 2009 should be the same.

    I have an 06 I turned into a project and I really want to lower it but there’s Jack shit for this car and I’m wondering if you may know anything I could do

    • @GrimRepair
      @GrimRepair  3 года назад

      Before lowering Springs were something you could buy, people used to cut the coils. The car won't ride as well after you lower it and it opens a can of worms because it throws off the geometry of the suspension. To make it right you would need to adjust or make other parts to compensate for there being less spring. Be careful full removing the spring if you do it, it's under alot of tension. You will need the right spring compressor.

    I have the same car. How can you tell if the struts are bad? Mine has 125K and don't believe they have ever been changed. Thanks

    • @GrimRepair
      @GrimRepair  3 года назад

      They can leak, the car might be bouncy, if the mount is wore out it may clunk around. Usually it's just something you feel and you may not realize they were wore out till you put new ones on. If they have 125k on them they are past their intended life span.

    I have the same car in the same color. This video is giving me the confidence of doing this job myself and save hundredths on labor. How does the front looks like? Is the front s strut assembly or shock absorbers? If replace the rear that means I have to do the front as well? Its a wheel alignment needed after a this job is performed?

    • @GrimRepair
      @GrimRepair  2 года назад

      The front is a little bit different, it is a strut, and yes a wheel alignment is needed afterwards. Thank you for watching.

    • @eliorocha10
      @eliorocha10 2 года назад

      @@GrimRepair Thank you. One last question, what type of compressor are you using for this job? Do you think a portable electric, 6 gallon pancake air compressor with a maximum of 150 psi is good enough to do this job?

    • @GrimRepair
      @GrimRepair  2 года назад

      @@eliorocha10 The compressor is plumbed into the shop it is from the 40s and has an 80 gallon air tank. I don't think your compressor would work all that well with such a small tank. Now I usually use a cordless impact made by Milwaukee, batteries have gotten way better. They can take off anything i have come across.

    Why not spin the bolt to loosen it up then they will come out. And anti seize on the lower mounting bolts. Since they are in aluminum.

    • @GrimRepair
      @GrimRepair  5 лет назад +1

      If you're talking about the 2 bolts on the lower part of the strut.They are really studs. They have splines on them and are pressed into the aluminum knuckle. The heads on them are also round. Thanks for watching.
