  • Bangladesh is experiencing an uprising. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned and fled the country after anti-government student protests led to the deaths of 90 people on Sunday and a further 20 people today.
Reports suggest that the former PM has fled to India amid speculation that she will soon travel to London. The head of the army, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, said in a televised address that an interim government will be formed. How has this been allowed to happen?
The Spectator's Natasha Feroze speaks to Sushant Singh, lecturer at Yale and consulting editor at The Caravan, in India

    Sushant Singh. OMFG .
It's fascinating though that the Spectator which I presume is a center right outlet would book someone from a left wing outlet from India.

Perhaps Starmer can put her in charge of the new (two tier) UK standing army of police.

Having grown up in Malaysia, I can understand the resentment that arises from affirmative action and preferential access to jobs for certain groups based on who their ancestors and parents were rather than their skills and abilities.

I'm an ex-pat currently living in Dhaka and where most news is in Bangla language, it's good to hear explanation and opinion of what has been happening. Fortunately I'm living in the diplomatic centre so we have been protected very well by the army personnel and we are safe. Thank you Spectator TV for this video.

Thanks to the Spectator for shining a light on this business. Would like to hear from someone partisan to the Hasina faction.

Only time shall tell. Like Iran there is real potential the islamist may take over the student protests. Islamicism has been bubbling away in Bangladesh for a while a sheikh hasinas party kept a tight lid on it. Already some Hindu minority has been attacked since her departure. I wish Bangladesh well to find its feet soon
