Loved hearing the history behind the trail. I was pretty gripped while you were on that ice. I rode last Friday and came upon some death ice. I walked it and still was slipping. Great video Brian. Looking forward to the 50 states. Maybe the Palisade Plunge will be done by the time you hit Colorado. It'll be fun to see what you choose.
It was awesome to link up and ride with you Brian! A very special ride, and one I'll always remember! Oh yeah, thanks for letting me keep a bit of my dignity lol! Looking forward to when our paths cross again! It would be rad to make it over to your parts sometime! Enjoy the trip bud!
Everytime I see a Dodge RAM van driving around my streets, i wonder if it might be BKXC driving through my state...but then I remember me living in Berlin.
Awesome ride. I rode Bugs Springs in the Summer and was blown away, first by the hellacious hike a bike in the beginning, then the amazing beauty of the trail. I made the plan at the last minute, so I parked at the Gordon Hirabayashi campground and peddle up to the top of the Bug Springs trail. Next time I will definitely use the shuttle you suggested.
Welcome to my backyard, Brian! I'm glad you were finally able to make the trip to Tucson. Bugs and Millie are great fun and this is the perfect time of year for them. I hope you enjoyed your time here. Cheers!
@@bkxc Amen to that man! If you're ever in Memphis, TN, we've got some beautiful/beginner trails at a place called Shelby Farms! It's a huge wildlife/state park and possibly the biggest in the US.
Love seeing you ride my home state trails! Live in WI now and haven't had the chance to ride what you asked off here. Had me itching to beer back in the desert🤙🏼 see you on the trail!
Wow, BK you just took me back. I used to live in Tucson, and cut my teeth on Mr. Lemmon and Starr Pass. Thanks for the memories, the stories and history of the Arizona Trail, pleasant surprise. Thanks for the videos. Keep up the good work.
Souther boundary trail is under snow right now but when you do get a chance, you should do the Glorieta ride nate hills did a couple years back or white mesa
@11:15 I love that you included that bit of local history! @6:12 Also love the mountain info and mentioning the O'odham people! If you're willing to continue this trend for the rest of the 48 states, providing a land acknowledgement helps make it known that all the places we explore as MTB'rs were historically Native territory. A nice resource to identify the original nations --> native-land.ca
Man how lucky you are to get to ride! Up here in northern Norway we've still got around 5 more months to go before the snow STARTS to melt at the trails 🤧
That's two down, Brian! Looks like a bunch of fun. And like Patrick, I found inspiration from your videos to make this sport a huge part of my life. I started on a fully rigid Giant Acapulco, upgraded to an $800 hardtail, and now ride a full-squish Intense with a Pivot on the way soon. And your videos helped get me into it all. So much fun, and so good for the soul.
Hey Brian! When you are back in California done with your journey let me know and we can shuttle culvert and confluence trails or even Scotts Flat hoot trail. Happy shredding!
I knew right away that I had to Sub. Great Narration and a realistic experience of the trails. People like you literally move me to ride as often as possible!
If you haven't been there, I think it's easy to not appreciate that everything in the S AZ/Sonoran Desert wants to bite, stab, poke, or cut you. Adds to the "exposure."
Im thankful for your videos on Cold days when roads and trails have ice on them. Have Great rides on your Tour!!!!! Ride on!!!!! oh man we got the ice game everywhere here ....
I think new riders have it better than they realize. When I really got into trail riding back in 2005, there weren't RUclips videos to learn from. There was 1 or 2 mountain biking books, and trial an error. I STILL learn a lot from watching videos on this platform. And I agree with Sistershred, the history part about the internment court case was VERY cool. I'd love to hear more tid-bits like that in future destinations. Good work and Cheers!
Wow, reading your comment reminds me of how old I am! I started riding in 1986. Hiking boots and jeans at South Mountain in Phoenix was my first real mountain bike ride. I came home bleeding, but was immediately hooked. I'm lucky to have AZ as my home. Great riding in many places! And I say if ya learn to ride here (including Flagstaff/Sedona) you can ride almost anywhere!
My grandparents live near Lemmon. I absolutely love the views of the Catalina mountain range. I always dream of riding their. I live in Virginia though so let me know when you’re here!!
That was totally awesome Brian, the best video yet. Arizona is a very spectacular viewing state. Always loved driving thu Arizona. Yanks for the video, Be careful & stay safe.
Absolutely awesome ride Brain. You have come a long way and way to go, keep up... keep on inspiring in this free world and I wish to see you on the trail some sunny day 🤙
If you head towards ct please let it be know. This channel and single track sampler got me into mtb and now I'm sober and in the best shape of my life. Would love to ride along when you come to the north east
I'd say incinerator ridge is probably the best part of the lemmon drop.. but probably deep under snow. Make sure you hit the CDO someday... a true backcountry adventure!
That is some nice terrain there. It looked like you were just gliding over the rocks on Patrick's favorite section of the second run, super fast. Great job on commentary about the trail and area. Keep on riding! So stoked for your journey. Dom 🤙
watched this before my cyst surgery in the back 3 hours later watching it again because it is so god damn good love your videos, definitely helped me alleviate my anxiety for the awake surgery that i had today. now i'm home recovering waiting for more bkxc content, about to become his patreon (never been anyone's patreon yet) in 2 weeks i'll be back on the bike !!!! :D :D :D
It would be really cool if you included some landscape b-roll shots or drone shots. To help set the scene. This place looks so cool I just want to get a proper look at it! Can't wait for state 3
To bad you couldn't do the full lemmon drop. 5 climate zones starting the pines. You showed very little of the chunk that is on this trail! Good ride. Safe travels.
Duuuuuuude!!! If and when you hit virginia you need to go to carvins cove in roanoke Virginia. A lot of the guys in the blue ridge gravity page would love to ride with ya and show you around!
When you're in Oregon, you just have to ride the Mackenzie River Trail (if you haven't already - or even if you have :-) I consider this the best trail I've ridden in the U.S. to date.
Great video.....im local in Tucson. Haven't ridden Bug's in a few months. Looks like I might head there tomorrow (after watching the vid) lol. Tucson MTB is stellar. Come back sometime. Enjoy your travels.
Clip in! Clip in!! Lol. When in doubt discretion is the better part of valour. Looks like an amazing trail system. No hole in the hedge for you. We look forward to the next in the series. Be good, do better!
Hey hey!! You mentioned south boundary trail in your video. When are you planning on coming out? You check out Glorieta and Winsor while you’re in NM too! All are killa!
52 weeks in a year 50 states 1 week showing the best trails they have to offer and 2 weeks off awesome schedule. When you come to Florida hit up santos Alifia carter road n maybe Virginia key
15:00 - thanks for not editing out when you walked a feature you weren’t comfortable riding. Good lesson for newer riders like myself!
I live in AZ, couldn't come out to ride while you were here but I like that you mentioned that riding Mt. Lemmon was what real mtb was all about.
‘Knuckle high Cacti” if thats not on a BKXC t shirt soon, you’ve missed out Brian. 🤙🏴
Hahaha love it
Brian putting the MOUNTAIN back in mountain biking. That trail is no joke.

Looking forward to the 50 states. Maybe the Palisade Plunge will be done by the time you hit Colorado. It'll be fun to see what you choose.
Looks like Arizona at its best, and also typically Arizona in that everything off the sides of the trail has spikes haha, so don't crash.
love the history voice overs

So glad we were able to make that happen on short notice! I had a BLAST, one of the best rides ever. You guys kick ass!!
I live in Gilbert AZ and had heard about Mt. Lemmon, now I have to ride it - as always great stuff Brian!👊🏽🚵🏻♂️
I live in Tucson. This ride is no joke
What a great video, and skilled riding! Thanks for the history too. AZ is indeed badass!
That's what mountain biking is about right there!

Hell yes, it was a great day!
I really like the little history lessons, hope you do em for every state. Good stuff
Good thing you didn’t stop in Sedona. Was there a couple days ago and a majority of the trails are still covered in ice.
When you come out off school and see no video 😭 but when I get a ding🏃♂️
Those cacti are terrifying! I was scared you were gonna clip one or worse fall into one. Nicely maneuvered!
Thank you for getting me into biking man! With my kidney transplant it's hard to take risks, but you give me motivation to keep shredding!
That's awesome!! Risks are everywhere, but we've gotta keep living

😂 "USA, USA" - you always crack me up, Brian. Excellent video. Thank you so much!
Haha thanks dude
Great history detail about the trails! Would be cool to keep hearing historic details of trails as you go state to state.
Souther boundary trail is under snow right now but when you do get a chance, you should do the Glorieta ride nate hills did a couple years back or white mesa
Phoenix is mint right now. But it was hot yesterday. Sweating like crazy on national 78 degrees!!
LegitMTBer 78 degrees bro that’s beautiful it’s 100 here in Florida.
Planning to escape some snow soon heading to AZ but I only have a Specialized Epic
Looks like one hell of an adventure! That trail looks sweet.

We rode this route from Prison Camp last Saturday. Looks like skipping Bug Springs was simultaneously a good/bad idea!
Hahah yes!
