My mother says that outright to all of my siblings teachers who pressure them into volunteering. Both folks work 12+ hours per shifts and even had to send me, the older sibling, into parent teacher meetings when they couldn’t come. My mother always says “ the only way I’m willing to come to these during my busy schedule is if it is in any attendance guidelines or if I’m able to shell out money for a private school education”. I get that educators want parents more involved in kids education and I respect that, but don’t go making parents feel like crap when they can’t volunteer or donate money at all. Hardly any parent can survive on a single income these days.

Also I've been to a school where the school makes the parents compete against each other of who's the best parent... Like the f%*k. I'm the oldest as well, so I would constantly have to go and talk to the teachers and staff about my younger siblings.
