Glad to see you react to Dorothy. She has an incredible voice and some of the unplugged stuff is even better. For some of their older stuff i think Wicked Ones is the song that first really got people's attention. Dorothy is both her name and the bands name
Great analysis, you got the point spot on. She's been open about getting sober and finding religion as part of it. This song is from the album Gifts From The Holy Ghost.
I'm not religious but it's good that it works for her and inspired more great music. The if you get a chance check out the unplugged version it's live studio recording even better. No need to react to same song but on your own time.

Yeah, this is absolutely about her recovery journey. But it's also about conquering whatever you're going through. Most, if not all, of the songs on her 2022 album "Gifts from the Holy Ghost" are similarly themed but vary in style from melodic like this one to the heavier songs they're known for.
