Thank you Bob for serving your country! You taught me a lot concerning your specific job, it’s very interesting. I also worship the WWII Vets also, we owe them much. My great Uncle served on a Tank Destroyer WW2, I miss him very much. Thanks again Bob.

Really good guy. I can relate to many of his memories. Like he said. Let's all come together for the good of this country. I pray that happens some day.

Well now that brought back some memories of the 11th ACR. I was fortunate enough to serve as a SP4 in Long Binh from Oct 68-May 69. My unit, USARV Special Troops, would pull perimeter guard every couple of weeks. It was extremely dark one night when off in the distance to the South there erupted a fierce fire fight and we could see both red and green tracers. The other guys in my bunker told me that the Black Horse guys were out there in the distance guarding us. They referred to the firefight as simply "recon by fire". They said that the units would laager up in a wagon wheel formation and then every once in a while open up with everything they had just to keep Charlie honest. The green tracers were from unit members using captured AK 47s. I was also a member of the Reaction Force. Long Binh was attacked by a large force in the early morning of Feb 23, 1969 and we had to go out and fight off the NVA. The officer in charge of our section took shrapnel to his head and did not survive. The 11th ACR and the 199th Light Infantry Brigade both came to our defense and killed a large number of the enemy. I will always be grateful to both those units and how they saved our bacon. May God bless you and yes, I am very thankful for your service. Welcome home to the land of the all night generators!

Speaking of being welcomed home. I had a lady that said that to me and then said. We protested to try to bring you guys home. I was shocked. I didn't know what to say. It bothered me knowing she was a protestor
