I'm happy you are doing the spray foam on this one, on your previous videos (that I remember, you have done the foam boards) it would be great if you continue to shows us how the process of spray foam, flooring and walls come up on this one with spray foam as most likely it's the approach I will be doing.
for me , metal frame with projected insulation is the best isolation/the only way to do. I'm a pro and i don't like fasten something with glue
Spray foam is very harmful to health conditions! Best insulation for containers is using dry materials with no chemicals like spray foam..

That is quite the price. Very nice job.
Am in progress building a 40' HC. Did the metal framing and used 1" foam board with R-13 rolled between the 16" on center metal studs. Hoping to begin wall installation this weekend. I am using your 40' HC as a template. Bedroom, shower, closet, toilet and 60" vanity are in place. Pocket door was just completed. Now to work the front end with kitchen and living area. Did I mention that I am already living in it too? No electric on property so I have been using 4 generators in rotation. Finally got water about two weeks ago. I have the design for an 11kw solar array that will re-purpose my existing solar system from my suburban home. I also have a 20 kw LP fired Generac with failover to repurpose. I will have to purchase all other supplies new. (inverter for off-grid, batteries, charge controller, etc.) Very interested to see how you approach the solar deployment.
I'm also building one based on the basic design template you're talking about. However, I ended up deciding to put a galley kitchen at the end with two 8ft counters on each side. This allows so much more space for the living room area. 12+ft.
@@Mav4 Things get dynamic. I have stuck to the plan with a couple of mods: On the wall shared with the closet I built a 48" free standing pantry with plans from April Wilkerson on RUclips. Immediately after the pantry is a 44" wide hearth with a 22" wide wood burning stove placed about 6" from the wall and has a steel plate set in just behind it as an insulator. The sleeper sofa and a table take up the rest of the wall. Above the sleeper sofa is a 12' gun rack assembled with rough cedar 2" x 12" with black gas pipe as the supporting structure. I had a friend with a wood cnc mill out the bottom plank to fit the rifles. Opposite the couch is a 60 TV hung on the wall with another cedar 2" x 12" x 75" shelf above the TV for all the TV accessories. Coming back from the TV the kitchen begins with an 8' counter with upper and lower cabinets. I did put in a 2 burner LP cooktop and an air fryer. The final 32 inches is the fridge and an upper cabinet for baking sheets. The the little boys room, shower, bedroom. I am just now getting to "make it my own" with nuances and decor. I ended up using 16 four inch LED lights in the ceiling with a 4" x 12" drop ceiling around the full outside edge of the ceiling. The old fashioned ceiling fan fits nicely in the middle of the room... this really is fun. I have a second container staged next to this one. Next year I will begin merging the two.

@@Mav4 Same to you! Interesting thought on the kitchen. With the wood stove and the 48" pantry as the "flip side" of my kitchen counter I have an incorporated kitchen area - albeit with less counter space. Like I said - things are dynamic and will always change!

Great videos (All of them). Quick one: Are your doors’ frames made of steel? I would assume the estructure of a container would weaken by cutting part of it ? Or you just use the aluminum dry-wall frames everywhere? Cheers!

what’s better for shipping container homes? wood or metal?
at 1 5/8 wouldnt the spray foam be r9 roughly. i have a 40ft hicube and looking to frame and insulate but seems mostly cost prohibitive.
Please tell us what the advantage is to steel studs. Wouldnt wood be a better thermal break?

What type and size of screws did you use?
Is wood ok for framing too?
How do you address the thermal brake for the metal studs?
The studs are actually hollow on one side and completely filled with foam so there is no thermal break, that’s what’s nice about doing it this way. There is foam behind and inside the stud

I’m interested in the home being a faraday cage. So I would prefer using a non conductive material.
Temps will be from 80’s to below freezing.
I figured wood and foam inside, wood, hardibacker and stone on the outside.

Yep.. That's our trade.. Steel Stud & Aluminium joinery.. Pop rivet & Beware they rust & Metal to metal accelerated corrosion even worse.. But that's how WE do it to in NZ..

Why isn't there the board behind it like in your diy build?
Every time I see a new video in the feed I go "YO!!!!!!!!!!" One thing I saw in this video that I want to ask is why are the studs so close together in this video? When I saw your video about the 20 ft SC video with the foam sliding board system, it seemed that the studs in that video were more spacious apart.

So why not just buy an insulated container? Insulated for 32° and below!? Which would also be insulated for heat as well?
They are usually pretty nasty and you can imagine how they smell

Hey there, I am considering using 30 shipping containers 56 ft long 10 ft High for a residential build on 30 Acres. One of my major concerns is hour climate here in Canada obviously we have hot and cold and I am concerned about sweating. It kind of reminds me of a cold cellar. Just wondering if you think it would be a smart move with our climate here in Ontario Canada. Just thinking here, but that would make an amazing promotional video for your channel LOL thanks for the videos I enjoyed watching them
Insulate from the outside with the regular exterior cladding and you should be fine. How big of a house are you building? Sounds exciting. I am also in the final design stages for my build.
@@nasser-ist my bills utilizes 24 containers so approximately 10700 square feet. Although this is just based on empty container size. What about you what are you doing? Will this be your residence? Or for a customer?

@@whymedude88 That's a huge house! I am in Seattle, Washington area building myself a modern house utilizing shipping containers. It is roughly going to be about 4000 sqft. Just finalizing the design, hopefully by the end of November I can have it turned in for permitting.

Clearly your not in construction. One 40ft container takes 2 guys 3 hours to frame start to finish. We put our big boy boots on and go to work!
