    I first sailed on her when returning from Europe last summer as I loathe and detest flying. The day before we arrived in New York, I didn't want to crossing to end and I bought two additional crossings before I left the ship. I will be studying in Europe again this summer and will be going both directions this time.....as far as I'm concerned ..its the only way to comfortably cross the Atlantic.

    Great video tour of QM2. We did our first transatlantic on board the new QM2 in 2004 which departed from the Manhattan passenger piers at that time. That crossing was 6-days compared to the 5-day crossing I did several times onboard QE2. QM2 is a splendid liner with so many amenities to enjoy on a transatlantic crossing.

    I traveled with young children cheapest way on and we spent a lot of time on deck and
    my daughter said it was the best food she has ever eaten loved getting dressed up in
    formals and my 9 year old son looked so lovely in suit and bow tie, something that is not
    seen much now. My children dined with me not in a kids club with was great.

    Hola Chris,
    Enjoyed your video, the main reason for watching was to gain some insight into the layout of the ship as my wife and I will be sailing on her the latter part of August, east bound to Southampton, but did miss a possible explanation of ships systems, propulsion, generation, hotel services etc.
    As a maritime author, lecturer and writer I would liked to have heard some correct ship terminology. Ceiling is a deckhead, walls are bulkheads, I think you get my gist.
    By all means explain the word when first used in a video, for the benefit of the landlubbers, then continue with the correct terms.
    Trust you will not mind my comments, they are meant as constructive, as I believe it will add more authenticity to your narrative.

    A fine tour of the public areas of the ship - however many would be interested to see The Bridge , the Engine Room , the Hospital , the kitchens and some other areas not normally seen by the public .
    The hospital would be of particular interest to me because , my partner and I were due to sail on the QE2 not long before she left service ( the occasion was my 50th birthday in January 2008 , but just shortly before this , we were pleasantly surprised to discover that Jane was expecting our son Harris ; we were not initially concerned , because harris was not due until a couple of months after the cruise , but on mentioning it to the agent , we were told that jane would not be permitted to travel at an advanced stage of pregnancy ! Why , we asked , does the ship not have a fully equipped hospital , and doctors on board who are surely well versed in the not unusual matter of a mother giving birth ? But the agents were adamant , our booking was cancelled , and we received a refund . This was a great disappointment , but Harris was born in a local hospital in July 2008 without any problems and he is now almost 15 .
    I would love to know whether the hospital on this ship is equipped to cope with such an eventuality , and also whether any children were ever born on board the QE2 or indeed any other Cunard liners ?

    • @ChrisFrameOfficial
      @ChrisFrameOfficial  Год назад

      Hello, so far as I’m aware QE2 had a fully equipped hospital, with staff of doctors and nurses and even an OT, able to accommodate nearly every medical issue that may arise. You’ll often find that cruise lines and airlines have rules around reducing risk for pregnancy, as if there was a complication that required specialised neonatal care, the ship could be a long way from land and winching mother and baby into a helicopter doesn’t seem to be a very safe option. This is just my understanding of the situation and I’m not a doctor so can’t be 100% sure, but I’d say that’s why. There’s some great info about QE2’s medical facilities on The QE2 Story Forum at www.theqe2story.com/forum

    I recently watched a video about QM2 and the presenter was very confused by the layout on board. He said it was difficult to navigate all the corridors to get to where he was going. For instance, he said that to access the card room, he had to walk through a public toilet! Is this right, Chris? I love the look of the ship and would love to sail on her.

    • @ChrisFrameOfficial
      @ChrisFrameOfficial  Год назад +1

      Hi Joan. I’ve never had to walk though a public toilet to access any of QM2’s passenger spaces. The ships layout is different, but I actually don’t find it confusing at all. Perhaps it’s because I’m so familiar with the ship. The Card Room is the Atlantic Room and there’s no public toilet between the entry and the corridor 😉

On the Titanic you can really see how cramped a lot of it is an how spacious QM2 looks in comparison - I wonder if we'll be saying the same thing in 100 years about a possible QE3?
