  • Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico is in a "very serious" but stable condition, Hospital Director Miriam Lapunikova has said, after he was shot five times in an assassination attempt that laid bare deep political divisions in the country.
The Kremlin condemned the attack on the Slovakian PM and wished him a speedy recovery.
"Naturally, we condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms," Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Izvestia.
Talk’s Julia Hartley-Brewer is joined by former senior military intelligence officer Philip Ingram to discuss the assassination attempt.
Philip says: “If it’s taken out of context it it could stimulate greater instability across the region, and that could stimulate copycat attacks.”

In Belarus, Hungary and Georgia? I don't think many of us will lose too much sleep over such a possibility.
