I’d say this song is one of the most underrated songs of DM maybe because is not a MLGore one…?
Thanks bringing this nowadays, sounds fantastic and very well performed.
There is a demo version of this song and it sounds almost the same as in the album. Alan is not sure that his demo. In my opinion, 99.9% it's his voice. And the guys of FM sing it close to "native" - the demo version.
So happy to have found this. An amazing cover; really captures the energy of the original song and even adds to it.
This was Alan Wilder doing his utmost best work in DM. One of my all-time favorites!!

This song was sung almost entirely as a duet by Alan and Dave. And in many other songs, Alan's backing gave Dave's voice lightness and dynamics. Now Dave's voice has become higher, Martin's - lower. But they are not dynamic and, alas, they will not sing this song so easily.

The sounds and samples are obviously the original ones (supposedly from Alan's auction). Sounds perfect, but bare in mind, copying DM is nearly impossible... The only way is getting the original ones. By the way, very good vocals... Well done!
Thank you Nikola! "If You Want" was never part of Alan's Disks. Only some live sounds from the years 1987 and 1993 were on Alan's disks, "If You Want" was last played live by DM in 1985 and the original DM-live-sounds of that song were very different compared to the original studio sounds. :)
Here you can watch our keyboard-rehearsal of "If You Want". By the way, it's our sample-set with the most different keygroups. So it was a lot of "workhard" :)
