. I shook hands with JFK in 1960 on a campaign stop in front of the Elton Hotel in Waterbury Ct.I was 14 years old. I had a huge 12 inch button on my Jacket, that said vote for Kennedy He reached over and shook my hand, and said I like that button .My sister just about passed out she was so excited

JFK was also a systematic womanizer, and reckless politically. Hoover had a file on Jack Kennedy's sex life as thick as a paving slab. That's why JFK had to take LBJ on the ticket. He was bribed into doing it by Hoover, a good friend of LBJ.

I always thought of Kennedy's humor as little asides, to keep everyone from getting swallowed up in seriousness. They weren't jokes, or put-downs, or ridicules. Just friendly good-natured observations, to bring on a smile, maybe a chuckle. They personalized Kennedy, brought him closer to his audience, made him more likable. And I thought Sorensen wrote some of those lines, or suggested them anyway, in Kennedy's lighter addresses.

    • @theresefotiou7097

Yes, and Kennedy usually was at his funniest, "off the cuff" at Press Conferences. Although I think, esp. a woman reporter [can't remember her name], who never missed his Press Conferences was 'set up' to ask him questions that brought out a joke---or gave him the opportunity to show his deeper understanding and seriousness abt. issues that were important to him.

He was brilliant at diffusing what could have been a contentious exchange, and never attacked anyone personally. Contrary to current practices, when he thought the question was inappropriate for him to answer, he would say so. Today, the press acts like the President is supposed to have something to say about everything that happens on the planet. He stuck to his job, and avoided turning it into a gossip column.

I remember this gentleman very very well, he was a really charming man, he looked good he sounded good and by God he did a huge amount of good, not just for America but for the whole world.
His wit cut the ice on so many occasions it would be hard to forget, but when he spoke it was in the interest of all, let us never forget that from a situation of near war he took the world to a new high with America and Russia being good friends happy to work with each other.
I think he would shed a tear if he could see the petty mud slinging being aimed at the country he tried so hard to get along with and succeeded.
America did itself the worst thingbit ciuld ever do by allowing a few to wreck all the work he did, he was without doubt tbe very best president the U.S. EVER had, and in tbe wings there was Bobby who i am sure had the same qualities, so they murdered him too, what a sad , SAD country they will both always be remembered and loved.
I only wish we had them both today Gods peace to them both.

I remember before he was assassinated he had a very good sense of humor and that's fine but the thing that all Americans forget that this man family such as his older brothers served in this country's military and gave up their lives for this country to remain free is it still does today and so did John Fitzgerald Kennedy is he join the Navy to fight and to keep America free and when his PT boat was sunk he helped his men get to that Island he went back and forth to get all of his men on that island John f Kennedy gave up his privilege life to serve this country which is more than I can say about this last president ❗. May JFK rest in peace and also JFK Jr. I think the nasty people in this country was afraid that JFK Jr. was going to follow in his Father's footsteps. What made JFK a great president he was a son he was a father he was a brother he spent time with his family and then he had the courage to stand up to Russia when they put the missiles in Cuba ❗💯 he was also kind to people I need fought for justice for all... And he didn't lie to the American people about the world affairs is it was at that time. He was humble he was funny he had courage and he was not a traitor to the Constitution of the United States❗💯👌.

CIA information to the Kennedys responsible for the debacle The Bay of Pigs, JFK did see the future - peace with the Russians, joint missions to the moon, and the nuclear test ban, would be the way for the future. (Also planned to get out of Vietnam) The SOB's who were profiting from war and were controlling our country thru lobbyists. We would have had a whole different country - de-escalation of wars - no Vietnam, no Laos and no Cambodia wars. (Gulf of Tomkin total lie, like the WMD in Iraq total lie.)
