  • Whiskey Sour cocktail recipe
Created in the mid-1800s. The Whiskey Sour is now commonly made with an egg white for added texture, although this was not part of the original recipe. When made with egg white ,the drink is technically known as a Boston Sour.
    - 1 oz / 60 ml bourbon or rye whiskey
    - 0.75 oz / 22.5 ml lemon juice
    - 0.75 oz / 22.5 ml simple syrup
    - 0.5 oz / 15 ml egg white
    - 1 dash of Angostura bitters
    - Garnish: skewered maraschino and an orange slice

I've always said, "Americans drink to get drunk, everyone else just drinks." Obviously this is a sweeping generalization, but I think there's some truth to it.
For example: if people here say they might have a drink in the morning, they're assumed to be alcoholics. Meanwhile, most of the actual alcoholics I've known in my life wouldn't drink during the day. They'd only drink after work, but get absolutely trashed every single night.
The people I've known (myself included) who are willing to have a drink at any time of the day have been the ones to know their limits.
It's very interesting to see the often unexpected ways in which our ancestors puritan attitudes have shaped our modern culture.

When someone enjoys a drink in the morning their called in alcoholic. When someone consumes a 1300
Calorie breakfast just to go “Nap it off” their called an American.

Whiskey sours are my favorite! Actually all whiskey cocktails. Whiskey imparts a special taste and quality that goes great with fruit juices if it's balanced nicely. Vodka and rum are the obvious choices. But sometimes they are lost behind the fruit juice flavor

    • @thingswhynot
      @thingswhynot 11 месяцев назад +1

Gotta find a punchier rum ;) look for something from Jamaica or Barbados if you can. I promise these flavors won’t get lost, good luck trying to bury them lol.

      - 30ml vodka

      - 30ml espresso
Shake it ~10 sec with ice so you get that nice foam layer

dry shaking the ingredients emulsifies and aerates it better and then you add the ice. You get much better foam that way. Also, double straining it will get you a nicer foam too.

Try this if you like, do the same but put half of the ice in a blender with the mixture and then pour it in a glass with ice...if you dont like it like a sorbet, dont put the ice in the blender, but still blend it, it creates the perfect foam. And other thing, in chile and peru, we dont mix the angostura, just add a few drops on top
