Detailed chart history is in the description of the video. Hopu you'll like it
Well, the biggest issue of the Confessions era in the US was a lack of airplay. After American Life (single) she was blacklisted by almost every major radio station in the US. Due to that none of the subsequent singles off American Life charted in America (at that point in time radio and TV airplay were main forces, just like streaming is today). And the lack of airplay transcended to the Confessions era as well. Hung Up peaked at #1 almost everywhere in the World, except for the US, where it peaked at #7. It was selling like CRAZY, it literally peaked at #1 on Billboard's Digital sales chart, yet it stalled at #46 on the Airplay chart, ruining a chance for the song to peak at #1. And even if Madonna hadn't been blacklisted by radios, she still would have underperformed airplay wise, because at that time dancepop and euro-disco weren't it in the US. She was instantly dead on arrival, because hip-hop and R&B craze overshadowed her and her work.
Yes i agree, but whats worse it that Janet Jackson after what Justin Timberlake did on the Superbowl was even more forgotten. While Madonna still managed to have 3 Top 10 hits, Janet was as overshadowed as possible having only 2 Top 40 hits. And its only because of someone else, not her...
@@kaskaperi9665 yeees! Damita Jo, 20 YO and most importantly Discipline deserved way way better.
I think it's more your second point about dancepop and euro-disco not being big in the US at the time. I remember hearing Hung Up all over on the radio. Granted only about a month or so it seemed and it rose and fell quickly here in the States but it wasn't like major stations weren't playing it. Also VH1 played the video constantly. That's what got me into her in the first place.
@@yt4870 lol yes I agree 😂
@@yt4870 lies
We all know this album is her RE PEAK era, its just didnt go well in us charts bc she banned from the radio
Confession on a dance floor was huge in Canada especially in Quebec, we were all collectively obsessed, since we all know her mother was a « Fortin » from over here!
This isn't dissimilar to the UK performance only Hung Up was number 1 for 4 weeks and Sorry for one. Get together and Jump both made the top ten.
In most of the countries of the world Hung Up and Sorry achieved #1, Get Together and Jump top 10. USA was the only territory where it was not very successful.
How High and Get Together are my faves from the album, although it’s amazing start to finish, which I can only say about a handful of albums.
I like How High, ILNY, LIWB, but I must say that Isaac is the best song in Madonna's discography. Only Frozen can compete with this masterpiece
Omg so cute. Isaac popping up near the beginning lol
YOU ACTUALLY DID IT ILYSM
Amazing!
I WILL REPEAT THIS UNTIL THE END OF TIME..."I LOVE NEW YORK" SHOULD HAVE RELEASED AS A SINGLE YO...OR MAYBE SHE COULD RE RELEASE IT AS A PART OF A TECHNO-ROCK AND ROLL TYPE OF ALBUM...🙏🤲
EXACTLY
the way this coulve easily be COADF era if she didnt release american life...
Jump kept jumping on the hot 100 as it should be
Very realistic looking
If only she didn't care about the US charts that much. She ruined her powerful image she created in 90s to adapt American bad taste in music and everything.
