Was so nice to see you with your family. What a beautiful family it is! Was great seeing you having fun and sharing. Especially on the slopes which is my favorite thing to do. Skied most of my life and still doing it at 81. So sorry your Sister hurt her other knee. Can't believe she has waited two years for surgery!!! The question came up as to what would happen here in the States. Anyway, not here to discuss medical coverage. Here to compliment you on yet another wonderful video as I always look forward. You are a bright, thoughtful young lady. Gday Glorz, so glad you took some time off from filming to rejoice in this special time of year to be with family. I highly recommend she do some hydrotherapy to begin her recovery. Gravity is not our friend when dealing with knee injuries & trying to gain strength back into them… The water solves that issue with weightless gravity. Certainly hope Aquilla is already healing. Hope you had a beautiful holiday, my beautiful friend. Thankyou for sharing your angelic voice with us once again. Wonderful wholesome video. was just thinking last night we've haven't had a Glory's Story for a bit so happy day! Sorry that your sister got injured and prayers that the Canadian healthcare system will move a bit more quickly on it. Fun video and Happy New Year.
Ugh that sucks! I tore both my ACLs (I literally just had surgery for my second one a month ago) and it is very difficult but worth it. Wishing a speedy recovery!
TWO YEARS!??!! For a torn ACL?? That's insane. It is about $1,000 in the US (it depends on your insurance)...and you don't have to wait (from experience). Without insurance it's probably about $15k if you include all the rehab.
Edit: I asked my wife and we paid $2,500 TOTAL out of pocket for our son's surgery and rehab...and it's one of the best orthopedic surgeons in the US (my son is an athlete). He had the surgery as soon as the swelling went down...maybe two weeks.
So I'm American, I tore my ACL when I was 26 in 1999. Back then my deductible was $500 and max out of pocket $1200. That's actually pretty good. I paid $25 twice a month for insurance and never paid more than $1200 in a year. The ACL surgery was $18,000 USD in 1999! I saw a lot of things were double billed. I asked the doctor why. he told me a PPO (which I had) only paid $0.50 on the dollar and a HMO usually $0.25 on the dollar so they bill higher. Now I did not pay the difference. Since the surgery was $18K, I paid my $500 deductibe and 20% of the surgery until I hit $1200 total ($1200 counts the $500 deductibe so basically $500+$700. So basically after I paid $1200, anything for that entire year was covered by my private insurance 100%. So for my $18K surgery I paid $1200 and then if I broke my arm a month later, all of that would be 100% covered. The difference is now in 2024, I still have a deductible of $500 but my max out of pocket until 100% coverage is $4500 a year. I did ask Chat GPT though how much people's taxes in the UK go towards the NHS and it calculated if a person made $50,000 pounds that $5000 pounds went to the NHS. So in that respect, I don't spend as much as the average UK person is taxed on health care. I have never maxed out my out of pocket, I rarely get close. The difference is the cost is hidden from the UK or Canadian payer in taxes and delayed service. I forgot to add, they asked when I wanted my ACL reconstruction and I got it a week after I got hurt. No wait. My wife's friend found a lump in her breast in Canada and had to wait 3 months for an MRI. Can you imagine the stress, wondering how advanced it is, if its cancerous and if it spread. Where I live, it would probably take a few weeks max for an MRI. My sister, is what I would call working poor and has kids, they get everything 100% free here via Medicaid.
The standard answer would be no, they normally don't charge for a ride down the hill with Ski Patrol. It is usually included in the lift ticket price. They will however charge for any medical assistance and the ambulance company will charge you if their services are required.
There u go, getting busy with the real world. U looked beautiful as always & all the family members too. Sry to see ur sister missing out on the family vacation, hope she's well & getting better. Happy 2025!!!
I got hurt on a ski slope in America and the medic ride down the mountain was free. Also, a knee surgery in America does not take a two year waiting list.

@@AlexM-zc7ib Two years seems extreme, if my dr in the US told me i needed surgery, i would get it, she may have to wait a few more years now for the other knee.
I tore my PCL back when the corrective surgery was still in its development stage and used only on collegiate and professional athletes (so they said). Years later I consulted some doctors to evaluate if surgery to correct the tear would be feasible and they said it was too late. The ligament will contract and shrink over time when not attached and used and could not be stretched a few years later. Maybe things have changed since then but I find it appalling that "Health" Canada had left it this long....it's no longer a viable entity and should be overhauled. It's good though to see a family out enjoying themselves together as that activity seems to be disappearing.

If she were being treated for her knee in America she wouldn't have to wait two years for a tear to be fixed. That is why so many Canadians, Europeans and others come to our beautiful country for their medical issues. Can you even imagine having to wait for something so long, especially if it was a worse condition? Glory, ski patrol evacuations are free at most U.S. ski resorts. Don't accidentally lose your papers to enter back into the beautiful USA that protects Canada.
This can't be true. Everyone says how wonderful socialized medicine is. She should feel honored to wait so long. Hope she gets treatment sooner rather than later.
There are no waits in Canada for urgent care (worse conditions). And not sure why she has to wait 2 years, my sister got an MRI and acl surgery in a couple of months. And, 50,000 Canadians went to the US last year for medical care, that's less than 1/10th of 1% of the population...not the 'so many' as you falsely claim.
@@AlexM-zc7ib That's because many can't afford the travel to America so they live with their ailments. Healthcare, housing, etc... Trudull gets it wrong... .
