- Jacqueline Rafii performs a Persian-Jewish melody of the Tzur Mishelo prayer.
With great gratitude to Mrs. Parvaneh Sarraf, a Torah scholar and teacher in New York, who taught me this melody. Mrs. Sarraf carried down this melody from her father of beloved memory, Mr. Moussa Doustan, a Rabbi and Hazzan (spiritual leader) who led his community and ran a synagogue in Shiraz, Iran. In Mrs. Sarraf's words, "I always learned from my father, who was a treasure."
This performance took place at a Jewish World Music concert hosted by Cantor Marcus Feldman at Sinai Temple in Los Angeles. Many thanks to Cantor Feldman for inviting me to perform in this concert, and for sharing the video with me. A big thank you to the wonderfully talented musicians who accompanied this piece.

Tzur Mishelo (Jewish prayer of thanksgiving after a Sabbath meal)
Our Rock, whose food we have eaten, let us bless God
We are satiated and there is still food left over, as God has instructed
God nourishes the world, our Shepherd, our Parent
We have eaten of God's bread and drunk from God's wine
Therefore we will thank and speak God's praise
We said and respond: there is no one holy like our God
The Temple will be rebuilt; the City of Zion will be restored
And there we will sing a new song and journey up
The Merciful and the Sanctified One will be blessed and exalted
Over a full glass of wine, according to God’s blessing

Thank you so much. Very touched to read your meaningful words!

Such an amazing melody. Persian melodies have been used in many other languages. It is so nice to hear this melody with the ancient lyrics of Hebrew
Thank you!
Thank you and love you!!

Awesome…what a beautiful voice … it lifted my soul ❤
Why is there only an Israeli flag?
This is also Iranian music. Heavily Iranian.
There should be a flag of Iran too. Honestly.
Good job anyways.
The current flag of Iran is a flag of the Islamic Republic, which is hostile to almost all of the world's Jews. It would be crazy for a Jewish organization to fly that flag.
@@RafWu No. It's not. It's hostile to Israeli foreign policy, while having a massive Jewish population and diaspora itself. Big, big difference.
@@ciaronsmith4995 Oh -- also, Iran has helped fund and organize many pro-Palestinian agitations on university campuses that have targeted the safety and well-being of Jewish students. Yet another reason to oppose the Islamic Republic.
@@RafWu I'm sure the fact that Israel has been attacking Arabic countries for 80 years has nothing to do with that
@@Mwstmrlnd Wrong! Many Iranians are very upset with this flag and want to see it gone from the Earth. And many of them are women.
Sound of Ofra...
