Poor Allen saying he had pain in his stomach area when leaning forward makes me think he was already suffering from stomach cancer at this time and didn't know it.
He did know it, I think. He just didn't talk about it on air. I believe that he had just taken the month of April off while he had chemotherapy. Bill Cullen filled in as host, during the prior month of April.
This episode is from May 27, 1980 not August 1980. August would have changed the answer board in writing and also the flashing lights. A pick 1980 episode of Password Plus is definitely this one.
Unfortunately, there's no point in watching these anymore :(. The last 3 (or maybe even 4) times I was rootin' for the person to win, they move on to completely different episodes :(
