South Africa has extreme levels of poverty but also a fairly successful middle class comparible to Europe.
The distance between the common worker and the specialist is incredibly jarring. 24% of the population is unemployed, 13% is illiterate and 53% earns under the equivelant of 20 US dollars a day

This is a direct result of people suckling on and parasitically living off of the acompolishments of others.
If instead of building shacks controlled by violence and thievery,
If instead they came together, and worked together to build something from the ground up, they would be self sufficient, look at how many people are there. But because their mindset is each man for himself, they will stay in poverty untill time ends. Humans suffer from learned helplessness, and need to break free, and instead just realize that if they started to work together, they could solve all their issues, they have the poeple and the resources from an extremely rich land, to build whatever they want. But they lack the drive. And only aim for shot sighted goals. No one who lives in that place, cares enough to change it for the future. They only care about right now.

america is currently making itself the example of how bad the virus is. in just seven days the virus went from 1000 to over 80 000 in america. south africa has managed to keep the coronavirus cases nice and low. for over a month the virus couldve ravaged and done worse to SA than in america yet here we are with our lockdown containing the virus more than many want to believe. we started the lockdown almost as soon as the first case was found and it sure is paying off.
i like how americans and europeans are trying to make it look like SA is suffering worse cases when in reality our cases are significantly less than theirs.

Why is this lockdown even necessary in the area shown on screen?! Just because it may work in some regions of the world, does not mean it will work in all.
The housing is so close together, the reporter even said that “..people sharing 1 room shacks..”. The social distancing that works in other countries just will not work in that environment. From the images it does not look like the hygiene standards are sufficient to stop the spread either.
Why risk mass social unrest, which could be extremely violent and kill many people, with a measure that is unlikely to do anything?
