Would love some tips and tricks to paint transparent materials like lexan and glass. Tried the water drops on an rc car body and a sheet of plastic. it turned out different but not great...
I have a question - I love the video, great technique and all. I am brainstorming for my RC car project - RC bodies are painted in reverse kind of. It's a clear shell and you paint the INSIDE rather than the outside. Do you think it is still possible to achieve this effect somehow? I imagine you would need a stencil that would be the negative of the ones youre using, but perhaps I'm oversimplifying it.
100% If you look at my SHORTS tab on my channel profile, I have 2 videos I think where i painted Traxxas rc bodies. The steps would basically be the opposite if you were doing the bodies for this; you would lay the stencil 1st, spray your colors, then you would remove the stencil and spray your background colors.
@@DuncanCustomAirbrushahhh I meant the stencil patterns with the fades. The dawn trick looks cool too but I think what I'd like to go for is the hexagon two way fade all over the body, and maybe marbling the outlines of the hexagons in silver with color and then marbling the hexagons themselves with black and color. But also doing that with a few colors and fading front to back or diagonal across the body. I think I might just order a wack of hexagon stickers from the dollar store and use those as masking. 🤷♂️ maybe easier than cutting out a hundred shapes in painters tape. Lol
hey Duncan just curious.. i got some tumblers really cheap from an estate auction... problem is they are all black an some all clear no white.. should i paint them white if so what paint should i use? thanks for any help edit: i forgot to mention i want to try and do the woodgrain look on some of them
I guess it depends on what you want to paint on them and what type of paint you want to use. Most of the time a white base is the best starting point, but there are times I perfer a black. Message me on Instagram if you need further detail
