Jeff gave me a ride in this car. He took me up Spooners and outer limits at race pace and we hit 98 in the lakebed. Changed my life. I also help him tear out the transfer case in his shop. This car is amazing.
What an incredible piece of machinery. That framework is awesome. Love all the choices made on the little things. That had to be a blast to experience on the open road and trails.
So much respect for the for the high level of engineering and fabrication, and yes i definetly see the improvement in the Welding as the project evolved. Great story telling in a creative way that a Fabricator can relate to.
John, this is insane. What a beautiful machine you built! It's just amazing to me what some people can do in just a small window of their lifetime...well done!
I love the build! And thank you for calling it an Engine..... bugs the crap out of me when people call it a motor.. its not electric its gas powered. Its an engine. This build in particularly, lol, is friggin awesome. You got some serious skill.
Incredible! Few people have the design capability AND fab savvy to pull this off.......I would imagine you have to turn down work because everyone who can afford it will be looking for you. Well done. Thanks for sharing.
This is absolutely beautiful beautiful work nice welds , and I recognize the use of saw radius cuts, nice, non laser cut , nice 👍 kool thanks BigAl California.
Awesome JR. Thanks for putting this together to inspire those who didnt have the chance to follow this build, and re-inspire those who did. I hope you've been well! Liked and Sub'd 👍🏼 All the best, "Station"
You might have a little trouble with a few words but damn you do a great job of fabricating. Buggy looks really good. I think IFS/IRS is the future of high end buggys.
next john builds a land speed record car, using only tecate beer cans and 85 feet of window screen😂😆😆😅😅 pure genius, "i laser cut without a laser..."😉 hope to see more from you soon!
Engine: a machine for converting any of various forms of energy into mechanical force and motion Motor: any of various power units that develop energy or impart motion Both are correct.
Always felt NASA could learn a thing or two from guys like this when it comes to building off-earth performance vehicles that could rock. I swear the things they build look so dang fragile!
My guess its because they need to keep them light. Plus they are much lower speed than an ultra 4 car since they need to be controlled from millions of miles away.
Kudos for the workmanship on this thing, I only have one remark... Using a drill, hole saw and bandsaw to "laser cut" these tabs without laser cutter??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I hope this was a "pun intended" kind of thingy ,😂😂😂😂
Engine and motor are by definition interchangeable. Engine started out as a slang word the had the feel of too complicated to work. That being said, I use motor for electric and engine for internal combustion thingies.
Jeff gave me a ride in this car. He took me up Spooners and outer limits at race pace and we hit 98 in the lakebed. Changed my life. I also help him tear out the transfer case in his shop. This car is amazing.
The workmanship and thoughtfulness that went into this build blows my mind!
Holy crap dude! I’m mind boggled…. That is beyond amazing!
Good God
There are no words in the English language to compliment the engineering here
Back atcha Jeff!
Sir, that seam welding is prime. Your talent is beyond homologations. Pure Essence!
This was just an unbelievably Awesome build. Your fabrication skills are off the chart!
Nice build !!!❤❤
What an incredible piece of machinery. That framework is awesome. Love all the choices made on the little things. That had to be a blast to experience on the open road and trails.
Beautiful tig welding, fab work and attention to detail, well done!
Hats off to the people like yourself who actually create these beauties, mighty fine work!
Gorgeous welds, as always, John! 👏
Thanks, Nicole. It's a small niche video but I'm glad I got it out there.
So much respect for the for the high level of engineering and fabrication, and yes i definetly see the improvement in the Welding as the project evolved.
Great story telling in a creative way that a Fabricator can relate to.
Wonderful. Especially the details, like the electronically adjustable roof lightbar angle.
He said engine... she said particularly. Awesome build/video.
One Word: WOW !!!! Thanks for sharing!! I am impressed...
The most perfect build I've ever seen
Wow an absolute awesome proof of your great craftsmanship, unbelievable!
I Have studied many builds and this is for sure one for the keeping, excellent design.
that is a thing of beauty - the talent and passion of those involved shows.

John you just dazzle me with your knowledge and talent
What an insane truck. Beautiful built.
Amazing details about the build. Very nice work.
OMG.... You (and a few mates) built THIS in your garage??!! Insane. I can see where the Beetle and Corvair projects came from...
I love the build! And thank you for calling it an Engine..... bugs the crap out of me when people call it a motor.. its not electric its gas powered. Its an engine. This build in particularly, lol, is friggin awesome. You got some serious skill.
The hammers are no joke. And neither is that buggy. Nice job.
Only 2 years?? Holy hell you're making the rest of us look bad! Awesome video, really showcases how much work and talent goes into these things. 👍
mechanical masterpiece you ard one heck of a fabricator
The fab work is incredible, very well thought out too!
Your fab skills are second to none. Looks awesome
Cosa dire?? "FANTASTICA OPREA D'ARTE". Complimenti a tutti voi.
Really awesome, man. Great craftsmanship.

absolutely epic build. great video!
wow this is quite a set up from your portal'd bronco that you first used
Simply incredible
Welding that good deserves to be in a Museum
The welding is amazing
NICE BUILD JEEP...
This is absolutely beautiful beautiful work nice welds , and I recognize the use of saw radius cuts, nice, non laser cut , nice 👍 kool thanks BigAl California.
This is a piece of art!

Liked and Sub'd 👍🏼
All the best,
"Station"
Nice build I have friends that race Pro 4 trucks from up near Crandon off Road Track in Wisconsin.
Amazing work...
You might have a little trouble with a few words but damn you do a great job of fabricating. Buggy looks really good. I think IFS/IRS is the future of high end buggys.
Totally impressive fab skills !!!
Best fab video! Thanks
As a fabricator I’m impressed.
That's an over-the-top insane build! Craftsmanship coats money, and I can see where $180k went.
WOW WOW WOW Amazing quality best I have ever seen and I have been a mil spec mechanical buyer 20 years
Great video
Absolutely amazing!
Absolutely amazing.
Awesome informative Video experience Y'alls God Bless Ya 🙌🙏
Partic-Larry & sim-Larry, not sure I understand the problem here..?
Fantastic build..cheers🍻
it's amazing!!!🤩
Hello from Russia
next john builds a land speed record car, using only tecate beer cans and 85 feet of window screen😂😆😆😅😅 pure genius, "i laser cut without a laser..."😉 hope to see more from you soon!
Engine: a machine for converting any of various forms of energy into mechanical force and motion
Motor: any of various power units that develop energy or impart motion
Both are correct.
Wrong. My father is physicist and designs race cars. If I ever say motor when talking about an engine he yells at me.
What an amazing machine
Where do you sell the mirrors??
comment ne pas aimé,good jobs!
Would love to see a whole race video of this truck? Post a link
Always felt NASA could learn a thing or two from guys like this when it comes to building off-earth performance vehicles that could rock. I swear the things they build look so dang fragile!
Gravity, gravity, gravity...
Its because they are all foil, tape, and showerrods. Its all fake my guy
My guess its because they need to keep them light. Plus they are much lower speed than an ultra 4 car since they need to be controlled from millions of miles away.
Yep he nailed it with the red buttons😂
Impressive work!
Any idea how much it ended up weighing in the end?
I think race weight was a little over two tons.
nice!! tig and CrMo eh?
Nice@!
Refreshing to hear someone else call an engine an engine and not a "motor"
What transfer case are you running?
The car is over 10 years old, but at the time it was the newest version of the Atlas. The low ratio was 3:1 and the owner also played with a 2:1
Masterpiece comes to mind. Have you considered building a plane to compete against the P51
what calcualte the chasis?
Engine and motor are by definition interchangeable. Engine started out as a slang word the had the feel of too complicated to work. That being said, I use motor for electric and engine for internal combustion thingies.
approx how long did it take to build it all and approx how long did it take to design on CAD? Ish?
The build took 2 years total. The CAD was ongoing through the project.
Very nice.
Beautiful work! Is this car still racing?
Thanks, the current owner is trying to sell it. I hope someone buys and races it so I have something to root for!
very nice.
Well that thing would look good in my garden
Just looking at the quality of your builds is intimidating. Think I´ll go back to bed:-/
Can it be bought! Thks
Do you guys sell plans?
No, sorry, it was a one-off build.
I wonder the exact same chassis would weight how much if made out of steel or stainless? Titanium is pretty much impossible to find where im from…
