I'd seen Gavin de Becker on Oprah years ago. Shortly after, I was getting into the elevator to head up to my 8th-floor apartment. Two men followed me into my building. I immediately felt uneasy about them. One followed me onto the elevator, the other did not. A third man, a tenant who'd entered with a key, joined us on the elevator. So when my neighbor got off on the 4th floor, so did I. I then hauled tailed up to my apartment. I attribute not only my willingness to trust my intuition (the gift of fear) but I gave zero f**ks about hurting that predator's feelings. I'm pretty confident that I saved my life that day. Thanks, Gavin.
I grew up being taught to "be nice", be polite, not hurt people's feelings, etc. All very good things to teach a child. I wish I had also been taught that there are predators out there and how to protect myself more.
Honor your feelings - if someone makes you uncomfortable, that is an important signal. It's okey to rebuff and defy others. Say NO. It's OKay to be assertive. It's okey to ask for assistance or help. It's okey to strike or injure the assailants as hard as you can if you are in danger.
The best part of this video "If we just let go of what we want to believe and let in what actually is..." the entire political landscape of our country would change, not just our personal lives😊
Absolutely brilliant series of safety help. I live alone. I use an Add-A-Lock on my bedroom door at night. I will not be suprised by an invader. I will be ready with shotgun. When it comes to predators looking like us, Russell Williams comes to mind.
I had a shepherd that I come to realize if my dog didn't like someone I should take head I learned to pay attention I do believe animals have a primal intuition

I have found somehow I know when people are going to get into another lane many times I'm not sure how because I see no ques like turning their head ect
Even at work I've been told I hear everything When I hear something my brain has to know what is that sound I hear ectI have to place it or figure it out
My shoe broke at work, ran home to change and as i was driving through my neighborhood i see my puppy running in the street. My sister accidentally let him out before going to sleep

If he was a predator in the first place.

I wish more women saw this! I wish they would show these in unis and schools
Maybe they can now! How do we make that happen?
@@TheCookiecupcakes we can try to send it to our girlfriends and female relatives. Maybe someone who works in schools can help as well
@@tiavelvet3141 especially men…they need to be TAUGHT not to be predators…

@@blane6592 There's only one way to teach that - and the woman on the 2nd floor apartment taught him well.
This is so validating. Im almost 40 and Im just now recognizing how to gauge these feelings in myself.
Listen to your intuition and act on it EVERY TIIME

I used to dismiss my intuition in my early 20’s…. I soon started really paying attention after that.

Gavin is a gift
In some instances it's like you can feel it in the air or emanating from someone something is just off but you can't pla e it
I felt afraid to go in a building that later turned out to be a hazard. No one was hurt.
Cats are often good at gauging who is a safe person and who isn’t. Cats aren’t nearly as trusting as dogs on average.
I had a shepherd that I come to realize if my dog didn't like someone I should take head I learned to pay attention I do believe animals have a primal intuition
Animals sense your fear ... your intuition.
They absolutely do! This a great series, but Gavin was wrong about this. Dogs and cats can sense the evil in a person. They have the gift of fear too.
I love Gavin, but I’m not sure I agree that dogs don’t sense a bad person.
Some people look the same as when they are upset or when nothing is wrong
Only psychopaths or sociopaths....
@@pauldelasco or introverts

People raised by psychopaths are excellent at not showing fear or upset.
