I'm happy you showed the "fail" video. It's a more true representation of how this kinda stuff goes. Not every bolt comes right out. The first fix isn't always the one you need. Not every project gets finished in one weekend.

@@carlosgrajales44 iv had an e46 m3 for almost 10 years and its actually been one of the most mechanically solid cars iv ever own. its constantly have little electronic problems and sensors going bad/spitting out random codes all the time, but hardly ever anything thats actually a worry.
Bro i have bmw e46 i have issue with starting when i came to start after i stop 🛑 , it doesn’t start until it will cold, that happened it’s sometimes and also the battery and oil warning are hidden when doesn’t start .

So I woke. Up Went on google Typed in “e46 m3 Eml light in Sport “ This video came up While I’m still waiting for my tps sensor to come in the mail I thought let me just try what he did ( I recently had my throttle body cleaned) I look and my clamp looked the same way his did I move the clamp so it isn’t rubbing or touch anything …. Hop in the car Let it warm up I did multiple pulls in sport all the way up to 6000 rpm in 4 th gear No eml light I’m going to keep you posted hopefully that fixed it completely
Let me say this I wish I saw this video first. This has made me swear by RUclips diy videos. Holy shit. The amount of money I’ve wasted and this was exactly the situation I was in moved the clamps reprogrammed and so far so good. Mechanics are the biggest waste of time and are all thieves. I went through sensors throttle actuator pick up the car same problem for them to have “never seen that code before” and then they wanted to change out my engine harness and when I asked why no answer when I asked well what’s causing the harness to be bad no answer. For them to gaslight me like I didn’t tell them exactly what my problem was and not to see that. Literally the throttle would get stuck on the clamps. Thank you is how I’m going to end this rant. Thank you.
When the eml light turned on, did you have a a rough idle and not even 5 mins it will shut the engine off? What type of scanner you use? some scanners can’t read bmw’s.
I fuccking love you, I had karbonius airbox, during oil change I wanted to make sure everything was looking good with the clamps, so I changed position and it was hitting the throttle actuator. What a dumb mistake but thank you

have a 2002 325xi and EML light is on the dealer told me I need a new main wire harness......so could it just be a TPS sensor? or clamps lol that would suck if it was just that simple.
I’ve been dealing with the emp issues for a couple months now on my ‘04 325i. Changed fuel injectors, fuel filter, spark plugs (just cause) and o2 sensors. Still have the issue. I guess TPS is next step. And if not that then it’s onto the throttle body and then the dreaded transmission solenoids 😭😭 send help
My EML light has come one twice and both times after a minute or so the DSL light comes on and the car goes limp. Restarting will reset it. I have not checked the codes yet but was wondering your thoughts. It is a M3 E46 S54. I would appreciate any advise. Thank you so much!
Duuuuuude....I had this issue last year when I put in a light weight clutch kit in my M3. Funny thing is, I've had those bolt type clamps on my car since 2013 when I did a starter motor and out of dumb luck I got every clamp on without them being in the way of the throttle linkage, I wasn't even paying any attention to how I put them on haha. Then after the clutch install the EML light came on and I had no clue what the issue was. Took the manifold back off to check the lower TPS, it was good, put the manifold back on, and no more EML even after 4500 rpm. Soooo...manifold off again to replace the idle motor since my idle would dip and stall periodically, and suddenly the problem was back....figured it out after reading some forums haha. Damn those clamps. Now I jus need to figure out why my idle still dips, and why I have hesitation under hard acceleration. Your vids are well done! Much better than mine!
An Alaskan In Florida That’s crazy! Luckily your clamps were fine haha did you already change your fuel pump? Or clean your MAF sensor? I have another video where I cleaned a bunch of components like the throttle bodies to help with my rough idle issue and mines been solid so far!
@@GenoFoster I've cleaned the MAF several times, clean air filter, new fuel pump, filter, and fuel pressure regulator, new spark plugs and coil packs. I'll have to check that video out to see what all you cleaned. I did clean my ITB's but I admit I didn't do the greatest of jobs.
Like 30 seconds in to the Idle vid and I have that same issue to, doesn't always start on the first try, but always on the second and strong (even before the new fuel parts and plugs an coil packs).....k back to watching that vid....gawd please let Geno have solved the issue my car is having.......
Damn you did everything pretty much! I mean I’d say clean your ICV but you mentioned you replaced that already. Have you already checked for the vacuum leaks? Yeah as of right now the first crank starts but it’s just kind of weak, if I let it prime a little longer or prime the fuel pump twice sometimes I get away with a strong first start. I don’t know the exact reason for this... maybe fuel pressure? Haha it’s confusing man
@@GenoFoster I haven't checked for leaks yet in any rubber hoses, I've read they can be an issue and some have found they cause similar issues as mine or yours. I need to get a smoke machine.

Can’t seem to find the TPS sensor location in the vehicle. I know the M3 Version has the S54 Engine and mine has the stock version so therefore can’t seem to find that sensor!

When my EML comes on, I'm going through the emissions testing.. all pass but when (I think) the catalyst test is being done, I get the EML plus MAF sensor fault code. MAF is brand new.. I've been battling this for over three years.. so yeah, always need a code reader when owning a 20+ year old BMW..any advice?

Good video. It's very helpful to include the failed attempts. It shows process of elimination. We all experience that. RUclips should not reflect a perfect world when it comes to car repairs. It erodes confidence towards a channel.
Look i just had similar experience with my bmw ,all i dd was just take off the negative battery terminal for a while, reconnect it back and the problem is solved 😅
@@edbanks713 for the m3 there is one on top of the engine, one under the intake manifold and one in the accelerator pedal. I’m not sure how it is for regular 3 series but I would definitely try to get some info on online forums!
@@GenoFoster i mean climate control, today I bought new throttle and nothing changed about the EML error. I don’t know what to do, because I have no idea what is going on with my car. It breaks my heart, when you don’t know how to help your car:-(
@@GenoFoster the thing is that the diagnostic didn’t show me any information about throttle. By the way EML error shows only when it is cold outside, I have never noticed that error in summer or in spring. I don’t know how that links with my problem, but there is a fact about it. I checked my electric engine control unit, it was clean and dry. My car has 90k km mileage and I can’t say that it is old or something like that. It is just one problem in it...that’s all🤷🏻♂️
