Not saying to be a doormat. In fact a 'doormat' wouldn't politely give a feedback on why this won't work out while saying his goodbyes, as I've suggested. You have respect for yourself and other person, even if they turn out not what you're looking for. Sounds similar to me actually, but female. I like being with a man who's more masculine who I can lean on and protects me, but I also like to be the feminine counterpart to that.
Ideally, I'd love to stay at home if I have kids for as along as possible, but in this economical climate it looks like both of us will have to work in the long run, but I want to stay at home for the kids for at least two years (which is the amount of parental leave you get where I live). I'd prefer to stay at home longer, but that all depends on how that works out financially.
But politically, I'm pretty leftist, not so much this progressive neoliberal leftism, but moreso anti capitalist old school leftist.

This video reminds me of one girl I met about a year back. Story time: So I met this girl at my old gym and we went out on a few dates to get to know each other. Throughout the process she kept talking about her values and how she wants to find a man who has traditional values but also respects a woman having her own autonomy in the working space and who wants to be a 50/50 equality partner etc. In the end it didn't work out between us on account that she thought that I just didn't cause a spark for her. Okay whatever, I kept it moving and kept things cordial with her. I would chat with her from time to time when we saw each other in the gym and she would always tell me about these guys she went on one or two dates with and how things never worked out but her reasons for not pursuing were always to strange to me.
One guy was too competitive, another man was too traditional, then another guy she rejected because she thought he was too skinny for her. The goal posts always seemed to keep moving for her. Then I asked her what was it she was looking for in a man if anything's changed and she literally explained the most controversial argument ever. It was just like Aba joked about with the build-a-boyfriend idea, wants a guy who is tall but not too tall, has big muscles but can't be bigger than her (she's a 5"2 Asian girl idk what she expects there) wants him to be wealthy but not obscenely wealthy in case he thinks he can do better than her, wants him to be a traditional man but then also have an emancipated mindset.. you get the idea. She's also Muslim which from a religious standpoint holds true to most of its traditional beliefs and the new criteria was that he had to be a Muslim man so her mum would accept him.
I just told her that she's looking at this like some tick box exercise and it's going to make her miserable. She replied with the type of retort that most young girls stuck in their dreamlands do with "I'm not asking for much, I just know my worth that's all." I was like cool let me know how that goes.
9 months later I see her again, she's still single and struggling to find a guy while I met my now girlfriend and when we informed each other on our dating lives she looked so broken after I told her I had met someone.. but what blows my mind is that there were plenty of cool guys who expressed interest in her (as she mentioned before with me as one of them even which I found odd for her to say after rejecting me for her reason) but man I do fear that this type of mindset of delusional entitlement is going to be the reason why a lot of girls are single and miserable just from what I've been seeing.
Yeah even if they get that exact guy they’ll probably feel bored in no time at all. A friend of mine found a guy who is handsome, sporty, intelligent, makes good money, is younger, has the same outlook on life as her and is madly in love with her (which is something, she’s not easy) so she has it all. But now she’s thinking about ditching him because there’s not enough “excitement” in the relationship anymore and she thinks the can do better… at 43yrs old…

That’s not really hard. Most working women still do the majority of running a home and being the emotionally healthy centre of the home. It’s also obvious that when women want a family they need a partner that is considerate and generous so they will look for this in dating. That doesn’t mean that they won’t go back to being career minded at some point. Its not either /or except on the internet.

It's why as much as we've seen women complain about unfair pay etc over the recent years nothing has been done - because there is no barrier in this area in the west, some women just don't want to do the same jobs as men which happen to be more difficult and dangerous and hence pay more. I'm sure if those women wanted to work on an oil rig for example which pays quite a fair amount they wouldn't have any issues getting the job - they just don't want to do that type of work.
It just brings me more genuine respect for the women who work hard as while they have alleged feminists around them crying out about how big of victims these women are - they still push through and get the top positions they deserve which is very admirable. Would love to see more strong women showcased rather than wimpy, whiny, opportunist feminists.

I think the problem that a lot of women fall into (and people in general) is that traditional masculine roles aren't the problem, it's the content of the character who is portraying those traditional masculine roles. If an asshole person has traditional masculine roles, well then it's gonna be a bad relationship, but that has nothing to do with the roles and everything to do with the asshole. A good person will treat you well no matter what "role" they take.

I disagree entirely, I think to be conservative requires a certain lack of empathy. How can you see all the issues in the society and decide you want to maintain the status quo? Progressiveness means so much than who's paying the bills in a marriage, it's about trying to improve society for the benefit of the most people.

Now that we’re married and both work, we share the chores equally and both pull our own weight around the house. We’re partners in life and we take care of each other (which I guess is less traditional 🤷♀️) Honestly, you can’t put people in a box and say they’re one or the other. I tend to be fairly liberal, and I'm comfortable taking a lot of the more traditional roles as the provider and such.
