That would be why any part of the track that had ground nearby was blocked off with fences, etc. Had to chase all manner of livestock off the track while building it...
@gaminggazer From the description: "At the standard minecart speed (8m/s) it takes eight hours, forty minutes, and fifty seconds to ride from end to end. We've timelapsed it pretty severely in order to keep the video's running length under half an hour." Figure a little extra time before and after, and I'd say it probably took about nine hours. Bet it was one of those "start it up, come back once an hour and check on it" kind of things.
@allovas 1. Almost nine hours. 2. Almost fifteen hours total - it didn't take as long as it could have thanks to SinglePlayer Commands' paste capability. 3. Yes, and you can see the coordinates both at top-left and under the minimap at top-right.
Read the "Uploader Comments." This track wasn't built "by hand," per se. The Single Player Commands mod has a mega-useful paste command which was used to make the track *SOOOOOOOOOOO* long *SOOOOOOOOO* (relatively) quickly. Other people's tracks were built entirely by hand, but they rarely exceed 4-5-7.5kb or so. (kb = kilo-block = 1000 blocks)
The sequel to this track, made by the same person, is up on our gaming channel... The Ride: Minecraft Intercontinental Railway III - 1.4 million blocks at over the speed of sound. I have so many questions. How much time does it take to reach the end normally? How much time did it take you to construct this? O_o Is it really that far? I think it's further than you told
+Popgirl8 Studios Oh, hey there! Sorry I knocked you off the top spot but when I saw there was a record to be had, well... MIR3 is coming, BTW, and it's much, _much_ longer than this...

The speed that the powered rails appear goes with the beat.
Imagine if a pig walked onto the track halfway throughout the journey... MAN THE VIDEO WOULD HAVE BE COMPLETELY RUINED!!
