Ortiz, THEN MENTIONED Tom Brady, Celtic Paul Pierce (who played his final game as a Celtic that year), Bruin Patrice Bergeron made 2 clutch post season goals that helped the Bruins get to their 2nd Stanley Cup finals in 3 years!!!! 2013 was a BIG YEAR FOR BOSTON/NEW ENGLAND SPORTS!!! Ortiz cracks it out on the first pitch and rounds the bases so routinely, Fenway barely even had a chance to process the pandemonium. I love the briefest of shots as he rounds first and the crowd is going fucking mental. And then he's so in the zone as he daps his teammates like it's another day at the office.

While Big Papi's 2004 clutch heroics are legendary, especially against the Yankees, I think this slam was THE biggest hit of his career. Remember, when Papi got his gw HRs in '04, the games were still tied. Here, the Sox were down by 4. If he doesn't hit the slam, it's very likely the Tigers go back to the World Series. Also, give kudos to Ellsbury and Pedroia in the 8th. If they don't get on base, Ortiz doesn't even get the chance to tie the game.
And yes, when Ortiz hit it out, EVERYONE was ecstatic--save for the Tigers--including the Security Guard and even Joe Buck. We rarely see any emotion out of Buck.
