I've found that circuitpython is much better for beginners. Additionally, code becomes highly portable between different supported boards once written. I've been able to port code written for pi pico, lolin S2 mini (esp32-s2), lolin S2 pico (basically the same with screen), and seeeduino offerings as well.
I wonder if they will include it to the pico micropython uf2 file. or if a similar library will be added to the C/C++ SDK. thanks for the info on picozero
