Well, I love running in rain. The more the better. Dont care if I get wet, as long as I dont get cold. I also love runnkng kn the dark, as it forces me to slow down. I run trails in the dark and meet absolutely no one else out there. Running in snowstorms is my absolute favorite !!!
I have always had the mindset that if you have to travel to work regardless of the weather then running in the rain should not be an issue. Wet leaves are a real slipping danger as I have found out by bitter experience. You are correct in saying rainy mornings tend to have less people about..(getting in the way!!) so its not all bad! Really good advise Flora. Well done. I am almost looking forward to the next rainy run....almost..
'Be bold, start cold...' Love it!! Great vid and tips Flora! Investing in proper winter/all weather kit including a head torch was a game changer for me. Opens up your regular running routes all year round.
Good video. I like yo address a few points: 1 I do not like waterproof shoes, better to use shoes that drain the water fast (specially if you run into big puddles). if you want you can use waterproof socks (or socks that do not hold water). Also use anti chafing cream) 2 before the hot bath, be sure to warm up... you can burn yourself 3 if you can't use contacts (or very long run) you.must use a cap, is not perfect but it helps
Another nice vlog Flora, agree with the T and a bath👍🏼.Also if I know I’m likely to run alongside cycle tracks and it’s dark and wet I wear a small head torch and a small flashing red light which fits onto my shorts, works well. Thanks again.
Very good tips, but running in the rain for me just puts me in the mood, and also i love running when it’s starting to get dark and when it’s raining. And listening to music 🏃♀️🏃♀️
First things first, i live your videos always watch them post running for motivation. Two questions: What headphones are you using for running, saw some blue wireless ones in a video and was wandering. Secondly did you give another date on barefoot shoes? Are you still using them for walks? Thanks and keep going!
Thank you! I use honor magic earbuds or something - they're great! And yes, i'm wearing the barefoot shoes now! I wear them for all my roady walks around here and love them. I want a trail version next so I can take them off roads!
Hey Flora, great tips as always 🤗. I love the feeling when I’m running in the wet so I can feel even more proud of myself for getting out! Have you ever tried waterproof socks? I got some for cycling and they’re great but they might be good for running too. You look like you’re glowing in this Flora, hopefully that means things are going well 😊
_Elliïseè_ Hiya, I would have thought so if it’s about the snow-melt more than the cold as I’m not sure how cold your winters are. That must have been a horrible feeling :(. The ones I use are sealskinz I think and they are quite thick and pretty warm. They may feel a bit weird and wetsuit ish but really keep the water out and feel fine when you put your shoes on. I think you can also get more waterproof shoes but I guess trying the socks may be easier to start with. Really hope it works for you :).
Did a run yesterday in drizzle that turned into insane heavy rain. Like deeper than shoe level water. As long as you stay warm it's fine. Cold is the real problem.
I just put on a t-shirt, shorts no coat no jacket nothing waterproof and go out and purposely get completely soaked in heavy rain while jogging I love it. Many people dont purposely go out to get wet in the rain, I must be the only one. People in cars probably think that I "got caught in the rain" lmao
Great video, I love that you picked the brains of your running 'geek' buddies! It'd be cool if you did that as a regular thing, like a Topic of the Month. Learning from people far more experienced than me is great! I've always been a fair weather runner- also the reason I never progressed. This year while training for my first ultra, I had to do my 2 hour long run in 37°F and drizzle. That's COLD. The look of disbelief on my husband's face as I headed out made me feel like a bad@ss the whole run. But man were my hands and feet cold!! I would rather be cool and fresh with rain than hot and clammy with sweat, so I usually wind up taking off the rain jacket. I recently discovered a water proof hooded vest (gillet?) And it worked GREAT! Also, I heard a great saying about layering: Dress for the second mile.
Love all of this! Great idea about the topic of the week - I'll pitch that to them! And yeah you feel so great when other people think you're insane for doing what you do - or at least i do! 🙈 Keep up the good work! 👏🏼
Thanks for the tips flora. I love running in the rain but the worst part for me is making sure u can dry your shoes after. I always stick them in front of a fan to dry. Otherwise u have some very stinky shoes! 😁
I don’t mind being out in the rain at all but my usual routes through the woods near me turn into a mudslide and I’m scared I’ll slip and fall into the river 🙈 I have to stick to the much less pretty road routes
Haha I know the feeling, there are some routes around here that are only accessible in summer/early autumn - in winter they turn into rivers/mudslides!
I ran in a 7mm wetsuit. (check out World's Toughest Mudder).. . no such thing as "warm" when you do that race, you should try it Flora and document it 😁😁😁😁
Wearing a cap is the number 1 for me. As long as I can keep the rain off my face I'm fine. Great video 👌
I love running in the rain, it is so refreshing.

Aw that's great! Yeah running in the dark definitely heightens senses. And you feel hardcore!

Totally agree! Thanks for watching 🤗

Totally agree! Head torches are so useful. Thanks for watching!
I like running in the rain if it isn’t raining when I start, if I’m mid run I’m all good. And sometimes I can’t tell whether it’s sweat or rain 😂
Haha yeah I dont mind it once I'm out! Just looking at it is so uninspiring 😂

To be honest, I prefer so much to run in the rain than to run in an awfully hot sun 🥵
Haha we are very different there! Although it is definitely easier
@@FloraBeverley yeah you're right it's easier
Love watching your videos Flora. You talk alot of sense without it being preachy. Always look forward to the next video. 🤩
Thank you so much! Very lovely comment :)
Running in the rain makes you feel bad***. Highly recommend. Great tips as always!
Haha exactly! Thanks for watching 🤗
Great tips for running in the rain! I love running and running in rain can be a pain sometimes! 😆❣
Ohh I learned a couple of new tips. Thank you Flora 😊
So many good tips in this video! Thank you for making such a thorough and accessible video!
Thank you for watching! 😊

Great plan, I love my headtorch :)
The perfect video seeing as I’m in unpredictable Scotland. 🌧
Enjoy the rain! 😅🌧
This video has come at such a perfect time!! Thank you.
I find running in the wind and rain alot of fun, much much better than running in the heat 😀👍
Haha I certainly find it easier, but I'll always prefer a run on a sunny day!
love going out in the dark and drizzle with my head torch on
There's definitely something satisfying about it!
Very good tips, but running in the rain for me just puts me in the mood, and also i love running when it’s starting to get dark and when it’s raining. And listening to music 🏃♀️🏃♀️
Aha awesome! Thanks for watching
10:15 Hot shower and coffee, so worth it.
It's ok running in the rain sometimes, it always feels worth it when you get back, you just don't want it pouring down everyday 😂🏃
Agreed! Variety is the spice of running 😅

Thank you! And yeah it's great 🤗 never tried waterproof socks but a few people have mentioned them so I just might!
Would these work in snow? Ran in the snow today with two pairs of socks on and my feet was freezing!

Haha I'm only in the UK so I think the coldest I've ever seen it is - 10 c at most 😂
_Elliïseè_ 😂 me too. They should work well then hopefully 🤞😊
Really good tips!
Thanks for the tips. I love your videos

Aha hope you got through ok! And yes agreed, cold is so energy sapping
Great video!
Blindly if you wear glasses.
😂
it's actually the main reason I don't do it :D

Hahah one of my sisters does the same! Loves it! 😅
Great tips👍 always wear a cap and turn it back to front when I mean business!
Haha not so useful against sun or rain backwards! 😅🙈
Gloves, buff, t shirt; sorted!!!
Brave!
Great video. I don't mind running in the cold cos I know I will warm up, but I always dread running in the rain and tend to always avoid it! 😂
Haha me too, but don't mind it when I'm out!
@@FloraBeverley haha. I don't mind it so much if I'm already on a run, but I never go out when its raining before I've left

Haha yes! There are great sprays like Day 2 that are great for getting rid of smells! I use them for my boxing gloves too 🤗
@@FloraBeverley thanks for the tip. Ill have to get some day 2
😂 British people always say “loads”
Do we say it.... loads?
I have run during rain and dark, it's so challenging because we can't see the puddle. 😅😂 But, still enjoy the run.
Anyway, thanks for the info.
Haha yes you just have to embrace the cold and damp! 🙈
Since owning a dog, I have desensitised myself to bad weather conditions!
I worry about slipping..especially with the leaves :s
Is running still your main thing atm x
Understandable! I try to choose roads that are swept or trails and then wear trail shoes! That way it's a bit safer. In terms of exercise yes it is!

Me watching this even though I haven’t ran in two months 👁👁
Hahah there's always time to get back to it! :)
@@FloraBeverley I got back out today!! Love your videos & content ☺️
my advice is to listening to sad music, so you "feeling" the rain and will ctually enjoy it more than you used to
If it ain’t raining you ain’t training
Make sure your bluetooth earbuds are water/rain proof.
Good advice! Mine are definitely not 😅
I would get waterproof socks over waterproof shoes
Will check them out!
I can't run without glasses I get headaches 😢
Any cap suggestions?
I am worried about slipping
Is it ok to run in the rain w only a sports bra? No covering?
Depends how cold i guess! But yeah if it's warm for sure
A hot chocolate after is my cold and rainy run motivation. Plus great for recovery 😏😏
Yesssss so nice! 😍
Ohh I learned a couple of new tips. Thank you Flora 😊
