Cherry Blossom Festival: Japanese Friendship Garden San Diego, CA

This event was so amazing, so much color, culture, regalia, music, food - all to honor to Cherry Blossoms / Cherry Blossom Festival. The cherry blossom is considered a symbol of life and death, spring brings new life, but the blossoms are short lived, hence they symbolize death. The larger Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C. is to commemorate the gift in 1912, from Mayor Yukio Ozaki, of 3,000 cherry trees to the city of Washington D.C. The festival also celebrates the friendship between the people of the US and Japan. The festival at the Japanese Friendship Garden takes place in March.
