Great info on one of my favorite railroads. Born in St Louis in 1944 I rode the Knickerbocker several times between StL and Anderson Indiana to visit relatives. This trains were mostly powered by EMD E-7s and E-8s I’m sure. I faintly remember once in the early 1950s a steam locomotive helper, probably a 4-6-4 Hudson pulling in front. Those were great trips. Sadly most of the NYC trackage between StL & Terra Haute has been taken up. Even worse the great StL Union Station is now of all things, a giant aquarium.
I used an article from Mainline Modeler: June 1993 by Mont Switzer that took the modeler , step-by-step through the process of correctly detail the Proto 2000 locomotives. I have an A-B-A set very close to completion!
Very good and informative film! Thanks for sharing. Only wish that one of this caliber was done on the diesels of the Seaboard Air Line, Atlantic Coast line, Southern, ETC
I grew up in the cabs of old nyc sw1500s, f-7s and f-9s on amtrack in Albany during the 80s. At 10 was running to penn central Station with dad in the conductor seat.
Thanks for your excellent video. As a 86 year old New York Central fan I appreciate
the amount of work you put into this. Best regards.
Thanks for watching I’ll let Paul know you enjoyed the video
