I would also add( for those reading) that you can simply setup the ecu's engine protection features so you don't have to hawk any gauge( like AFR/Boost/Water temp). The ecu can react 100x faster than you, and takes that " fear" out of you missing a critical moment. Nice video as always HPA team.
Yes this is a great point and we cover setting up some of the protection strategies within the other 9 steps. The less we need to focus on gauges while driving, the safer we're going to be! - Andre
All rx7 but especially fd are awesome. To me, one of the most beautiful things automotive. I am an American and cut my teeth on fc rx7. My first car was a 91 glx fc na model. 352k miles. Rust got to it. I have a single turbo mustang now. 92 fox with a haltech elite cop etc. but I do miss the rotary. It’s just cool. I had a small turbo 13b street port deal in my second car. Old school like fuel cut defender, apexi fuel controller. 750 secondaries. Lol. Lots of fun. God bless.
Can hardly find any info on the 8474 anywhere. I know rotaries are different isn't that turbo too big for a stock 13b? Not only that but it seems to be working under it's power range. I'm very interested in this turbo, do you think it'll do well on a K24?
Yes it's much bigger than what we need, the plan is to build the engine and then have it work to it's potential, we just fell into the old trap of planning ahead but not finding the time to do that second part of the plan yet 😅 Can't comment on the K24 setup, but Andre might help: www.hpacademy.com/previous-webinars/198-selecting-the-right-turbo/? - Taz.
We don't actually have a Maxx ECU so that's the first challenge. We are getting a few people asking about it so it's a possibility in the future. i just can't suggest when that might be - Andre
That's something we had made by Vinny Fab. It was talked about a little bit in this [OFF THE RECORD] episode - ruclips.net/video/tPl1IG1bsXI/видео.html - Taz.
Cool video 👍 One thing road tuning catches is WOT gearchanges and associated data. Tunes can be different for an auto - why do you ask.... Coming from bmw n54 experience the auto will cause heavy knock post shift at WOT. It's because of the way they reduce torque with retarded timing - like 20 after TDC. I think this super heats the exhaust valve and knock events - manuals dont suffer from it 😳
Pretty great info. I'm not a pro at all, just diy megasquirt tuning, but I would be very concerned with a pro that doesn't road test their tune:/ (assuming they can, registered car etc)
You sure can. For this purpose we need the laptop anyway so there's really no reason not to use the laptop logging. ECU logging is perfect for situations where we can't have the laptop in the car though - Andre
Genuinely one of the most knowledgeable tuners ever and also a great teacher, very good explaining complex stuff

I've learned from this video and owned an FD since the 90s. Fantastic video, thanks for supporting the car industry. Also, stunning white FD.
Cheers Jason! - Taz.
Thanks so much for uploading these videos to youtube man you're a legend and an awesome teacher
Always look forward to your uploads, wish I had the facilties to learn tuning great work guys..👍
GOOD QUALITY DATA IS THE MEANING OF WORLD! :D to me at least it is, absolutely love it.
V mounted IC with a solid bonnet? Would be interesting to see how much intake temp you drop with a vented one.

Are you going to do a episode on MAXX ecu? any time soon .Cheers

@@hpa101 Cheers Andre. I'll know in a few days Once its wired up.
awesome video as customary! 💪
Hey, Andre thanks for another informative video. I noticed a new radiator filler neck. Is that something you guys made or purchased elsewhere?
That's something we had made by Vinny Fab. It was talked about a little bit in this [OFF THE RECORD] episode - ruclips.net/video/tPl1IG1bsXI/видео.html - Taz.
Mlvhd seems to be what i need, banging my head against the wall with logworks for innovate data.
Yes, it's a pretty powerful and flexible system - Andre
Cool video 👍

Here's our project rx7 it's mostly stock except for the large turbo, oversized intercooler, upgraded injectors and tube.
Will you guys be running TurboSmarts electric waste gates in the future?
We've wired up our Nissan SR20VE to support one in the future - Andre

You'd be surprised how uncommon this is - Andre
I would be interested in 0.77 lambda what EGT that is generating. Who’s to say that’s the number you need to run.
Andre, it's just a "Reverse Y-Axis" to help with the issue you ran into here...
Can we only do road tuning??
Yes
11th step… burnout tuning rotary specific

Can't you just log directly to the ecu?
You sure can. For this purpose we need the laptop anyway so there's really no reason not to use the laptop logging. ECU logging is perfect for situations where we can't have the laptop in the car though - Andre
The steering wheel is on the wrong side... I don't trust the analysis
No! "because when is running temperature change the air and is coming with more pressure."
