- I don't know why the colour turned out kind of blu-ish even though I used black jeans.... eh!
Don't worry I fixed the tiny box, no permanent harm was done.
Thanks for watching!

Don't worry I fixed the box.
It´s "blu-ish" because the goundcolor of the black was blue, there is no so-called "black" in this world, black is just a shade of white and white is just every single color together.
Mostly black´s made out of some type of cyan/blue, brown or violet.
I think your glue or what it was took some of the color out of the jeans itself but hey... i´m not a prof. xD
Glad you did, mate heheh
Good, I admit, that was cringey for me to watch... Also, thanks for NOT modeling the cutoff shorts!😬
But did you wear breathing ppa? The dust from this shit is deadly, there should have been a warning in the video.
0:30 If you're not wearing those Daisy Dukes by the end of the video, you aren't living to your full potential XD
Smart idea with the box! The first few times that I made micarta, it was such a mess! Made some great handle scales though so well worth it.
Well done sir. The fast-motion stuff reminds me of old Benny Hill episodes. Nice!
I'm glad I found this channel. Cheers! I'll be sharing this with other #makers.
This gives you a nice quick little tour through #DIY #micarta #fabrication.
It's such a cool material to be able to actually make, right now, at your house, starting at about $15 worth of fiberglass resin and some scraps of fabric or paper. It usually takes about a few hoyrs to cure for handling. You can almost immediately cut, sand, drill, macine, shape, polish, etc. It's extremely durable and strong.
Fun stuff. :)
People are stunned when I let them know that I MADE the crazy exotic wood for those knife scales.
The cutoffs can be shaped into nice pendants and bangles. There is very little waste. :)

I've never heard of this before but it looks great, can't wait to see how good it looks on the knives
In my lab, I actually use this method to make carbon fiber plate from carbon fiber cloth. You are a true genius😀😀😀
Try alternating layers of two different colors of cloth, you then get a really nice wood grain look when you round it out on a handle.
Or kind of a damascus look!
What type of epoxy or resin do you recommend for micarta? I am wanting to make some pen blanks
Nice little box!
Those are potential knife handle materials, I'd say. Thanks for the upload, though! You've been giving me some inspiration for my upcoming projects!
You're welcome
uuh... why not lol
Best use of old jeans xD
Is flooring epoxy fit to make micarta
Super cool
When you were laying the jeans in the box and then took it out to do it, that's really thinking outside the box :D.
A prelude for scales on a new knife build...
Cheers
Now I just wanna see a video about making a small box like this :)
Can someone explain me the point of this?
Micarta is a material usually made from stacked cloth which is soaked in epoxy or a similar resin glue. The pieces I made In this video are gonna become handles for a knife in the future.
@@MakeNCreate Oh ok! I never heard of this material, thanks!
@@MakeNCreate i wondering the same thing too, no idea what is "micarta" is. thank you for the information
Great video
Pretty cool...😎
Pretty god mate!
now you give me an interesting idea, what if we make armor mold and use old jeans to make body armor for cosplay etc?
u can but u have need 2 face mold so u can press the resin inside or vacuum it inside a thick plastic bag because without those step, your cast will ended with many air pocket and flimsy unlike a regular resin with fiber strand
@@prd6617 yeah you are right, like drone technology we may need vacuum press i ll think about it.
Why are you so cool? Hahaha, Anyway, another great and funny vid. Congrats!!
I try! Thanks mate
Is the light oscillating because of the clouds moving outside? Looks like natural illumination on your hand at a point. Lol.
Those are some really good scissors..
That looked like a quality pair of jorts
What resin is used..?
0:24 that snicker when he held them up
From flea markets? Man those jeans must be itchy.
ha, u must me funny
😂😂
Knife scales for later?
You got it
Dude u know your gonna wear those Jean shorts. Hell I would. Suns out, buns out!!!
I want to do this with an $800 pair of Japanese denim jeans.
Thank you for slowing the video down when you were peeling the paper off, that was a great sound. But don't cut towards your hands with the boxcutter! I was worried I'd be seeing you slice your hand open!
ive known about this cheat for 4 years , i feel handles made from this are slightly lighter that ebony and gripbetter
I thought you topped it with a sandwich there, nice work by the way!
This would be an interesting material for a guitar
Indeed!
Better not skip leg day if you plain on wear those short you made lol
A vacuum chamber and a hydraulic press really help a lot when making things like this.
I knew the box was going to die - you seemed like you were rushing it lol.. But nice handle material :P
Nah not rushing. Just thought it would pop right of it. It got stuck because the resin overflowed. Thank you!
Partical mask that epoxy dust is nasty looking great . Happy trails
I tint my epoxy when making black scales, gives them a nice deep solid black. I made a simple press from scrap 10mm steel, clamp down by screwing a couple of bolts, can apply way more pressure and it is re-usable, you just have to fold the baking paper to direct the overflow out to the sides or it gets on the steel (wd40 stops it sticking too badly). Also, do yourself a favour and get a rotary fabric cutter, a special razor sharp pizza cutter, you wont ever bother cutting fabric with scissors again, massively quicker, neater and more accurate.
Hahahaha wtf i like it
English longbow?
🇹🇷✋🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Mi carta, su carta! (Man I need friends... :( )
What was the point in doing this if you don't mind me asking ?
I'm making a material.
For what this one?
Whats a micarta
that is a micarta, used for knife handles (and more)
A laminate material made from layers of fabric (or similar material) and resin.
Micarta these nuts
Micarta got decline at the store lol
Es sucarta.
Make a divine rapier
TIL you can make jeans into a rock
and wtf is that suppose to be ?? what is that for ?
george Bush ...knife handles. Multiple layers of cloth and epoxy makes mikarta, a light, yet solid, mixture that lasts longer then rubber or plastic and is as easy to shape as wood. Different cloth color layers makes for very interesting patterns when shaped. This is why at the end he cut the edge in a diagonal to show what pattern would be visible on the knife handle.

Poor lil leather tool box
Технология хорошая, но лучше использовать уже отжившие своё вещи. Эти джинсы как новые -только постирать и можно носить. Ещё и шкатулку разломал.
Lol you had to make a video of making something creative when all you wanted was some daisy dukes haha
First
What ever happened to your cat its not in the videos as much anymore
All in good health. They weren't getting paid enough though so they quit.
hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii i came here as soon as it notified me sadly my computer died right after so im here now
Next time please use nitrile gloves. For your own safety.
Видимо первый раз делаешь? Много ошибок... Попробуй разные кусочки ткани по цвету например зеленые и черные слоями будет красиво и ещё используй целофан вместо бумаги )
no gloves, broke the mold, made a mess, long sleeves at band saw.. get your shit together...
Whats the point?
