I got Acer Predator X27 three years ago and still using it at 4k@120Hz, no point of overclocking to 144Hz over DP 1.4 as it costs the picture quality. HDR1000 and high ppi is astounding as well, even after gaming on 55'' LG Oled C9
agree for sure. have you compared HDR1000 to HDR400? That was something I def looked into when I bought this one. Like, if this monitor looks THIS good, HDR1000 must be mind blowing.
@@itsdanielpaul I haven't compared HDR400 to HDR1000, but many popular youtube channels claim that only HDR1000 is worth it and I completely agree that HDR1000 is truly mind-blowing in games and contents that support it properly(in my opinion 4k@120hz is the best experience ever and HDR comes after that and only then maybe stuff like ray tracing).
@@itsdanielpaul HDR1000 can be hit or miss depending on the implementation. The X27 mentioned here has a FALD backlight with 384 dimming zones. It has some blooming issues but overall it is still one of the best HDR monitors out there. Now as a contrast to that, I own a 49" 120hz Samsung CRG9 monitor which is also specified as HDR1000. However mine has only 9 edge lit dimming zones. These zones light up even if there is a single non-black pixel within that zone. This leads to massive blooming as the zones cover a huge area - colors in dark scenes usually look washed out (in HDR only - SDR looks good). Therefore I believe if a display isn't OLED or doesn't have a FALD backlight with hundreds of zones getting a HDR400 is a safer bet than anything in between. HDR400 is somewhat mediocre but won't have any blooming issues. The contrast will be roughly the same as in regular SDR mode but you will at least get wider color gamut. Most HDR600 and HDR1000 displays have edge lit dimming zones which look terrible in practice. Yes they do get brighter than an HDR400 display but that is just a paper spec. The HDR400 will look better thanks to having no local dimming.
hahaha thank you!! i CAN say that HDR support I think got improved in the last windows update, but I am still constantly plugging and unplugging, and am still using extension cables because the placement of the ports make NO SENSE. Also, commenters informed me that this monitor is not GSYNC, but is only GSYNC compatible, so maybe that's the source of my GSYNC headaches. Thanks for watching!!
Please pin or vote to the top. 1. With this monitor, pick 2/3 because you cant do all of them at once: G-Sync (adaptive sync), HDR, 144Hz refresh. 2. If 144Hz refresh rate is part of your selection, then you need to connect 2 Display port cables to the GPU (order doesnt matter). If you dont do 144Hz, you only need 1 DP cable for 4K 120Hz. 3. The Acer Display Widget software is a convenient tool to manage monitor settings from your PC instead of pressing the physical buttons. The monitor is amazing! I chose to run G-Sync and HDR. The extra 24Hz is not worth it to me. If i want to play a highly competitive FPS, i just do that on my other 2K 240Hz monitor. This one is purely for AMAZING game visuals. The RTX 3080 and higher cards really do shine at 4K vs. 2k and 1080p. Cyberpunk runs much better on 4K w/ RTX ON compared to 2K with RTX OFF. That doesnt seem to make sense right? Try it..
There's a True G-Sync one. The one with G-Sync module I believe have a lil fan on the back as well. That one doesn't require to plug both DP to achieve 144hz I believe. Great video btw
You deserve alot more subs. Keep it up. I'm glad I found your channel. Thank you for the review. I'm surely not buying this monitor, might consider a 1440p LG. Thank you for the content.
thanks man! yeah if you're not a resolution junkie like me, 1440p is great. but at this point I need my computer monitor to be 4K, I hate seeing the pixels lol
I am using an RTX 3060. I found out that you have to criss cross your Direct Port cables for 4k 144hz. Then you have to turn it on in the monitor settings. which is wiggity wiggity WACK! CrissCross will make it work!
I don’t understand the complains, I have this monitor and it works like a charm. Sure, plugging monitor cables is not optimal, but how often do you need to do that irl? 10-bit and G-sync, it all works very well, here. They could improve the switching speed between input signals.. but I must add that I experience the same with other monitors.
Am I the only one that never had issues like this? Also mine runs 4k 144hz with just one cable. The inputs in the back are atrocious, hdr is brighter than advertised! I can't complain, it's a fantastic monitor, except the loud ass fan noise from gsync module.
are you sure we're talking about the same model? This one is GSYNC compatible, but doesn't have a GSYNC module in it, which I found out later lol. But no fan noise on my model.
Its a super confusing naming scheme cause it says XB3 on the box of mine, but in the fine print, it's actually XB273GP. Sad they didn't fix the inputs! Such bizarre placement lol
This does not have a dedicated GSYNC module. This is GSYNC-Compatible, NOT actual GSYNC. Do your research, buy the SB variant of this model and avoid all the issues with GSYNC. Don't buy an orange expecting it to be a potato. Do your research!
Ah thanks, I'll update the description! Even still, I don't think that something being GSYNC-compatible means I should expect issues. I mean if it's compatible, it should just work, no? Do you have a monitor with a dedicated GSYNC module? Does it work perfectly? Esp Premiere has huge issues. That's my main problem with this monitor is all the problems it gives me. It has HDR, but I have to constantly plug it in and unplug it to get it to work. Hopefully Windows 11 fixes that though.
@@itsdanielpaul I agree if it has the label it should just work. Something I question nvidia for doing haphazardly. They really only should be giving out those gsync labels on products with the actual gsync module to avoid confusion like this. I just purchased the SB variant, it’s working without the glaring issues you’ve mentioned so far. I will update this should issues occur.
My laptop crashes after a reboot when I leave the connected external monitor on. It normally doesn't crash after a proper full boot from a powered-off state or when waking up from sleep, but sometimes it does even there. My solution has been to switch to the laptop's display, then turn the monitor off whenever I can, if I'm about to leave the laptop running with some tasks or when I'm about to turn it off, reboot it, or sent it to sleep. Interestingly, these issues do not occur when connecting a TV to the laptop. Windows' handling of am actual PC monitor seems definitely worse than its handling of a TV. Something about the way the devices communicate perhaps.
How did you set up yours to be able to run 4K 120 Hz gaming on an Xbox series X because that’s what I have and I can’t do it I just won’t let me and I have a ultra high speed 2.1 hdmi cable so it should work
I think it only has hdmi 2.0 . From what I understand you can play 4k but only at 60hz. Atleast thats the case with ps5. And i hardly belive the xboxx or ps5 will be able to play games at 4k 120hz. But at lower resolutions you will be able to get 120hz which is great.
Hmm, I definitely have problems getting it working, but the HDR looks great after. What kind of issues are you having with the HDR? For me, even if I got it working right, it would be too dark in some games, like RE8, I couldn't even calibrate it correctly, it was too dark. To fix it, I used NVIDIA control panel, they have brightness adjustment and other adjustments on there that definitely helped. Also, I just reinstalled Windows and HDR is actually a lot more stable on my HDR TV, I haven't tested it on my Predator monitor yet (I had to send it in for service, it was shorting out, maybe because I had to plug it in and unplug it over and over) but when I get it back I'm definitely gonna test it extensively.
Still having the issue where I can't wake up my monitors @144Hz using two display port cables connected to my 3080. Have there been any fixes/workarounds that anyone knows of? From reading the forums, it looks like many people had this experience with no fix ever released.
I'm seriously considering this monitor but the headaches don't seem worth it. It's on Amazon for $629 at the moment and really want to jump the gun. I wouldn't mind getting a high refresh rate 1440p monitor either like the Samsung Odyssey G7. I just don't know what route to take. I have a 3080ti any suggestions on which one to get?
Dude I just got a 3080 Ti, too! Congrats! I feel like I have less problems now than I did, but I still have problems. Like, the Acer doesn't fail to wake from sleep anymore. I don't know what I did to fix it but it doesn't do it anymore. Now my biggest troubleshooting thing is when it does that desaturated thing I have to unplug both monitors and then only plug in the Acer, then turn HDR off and on, then plug in my second, which is less of a pain since I got little displayport extension cables, but still like... why. I would def hate it more if I had to plug and unplug from the physical port cause the placement is so weird. Maybe Windows 11 will make it better? The color accuracy and motion on this Predator monitor is def great, better than the other panel I tried, the AOC CU34G2X 34" Ultrawide, it was 1440p and I couldn't take the drop in resolution. Also, the motion was not as good, there was ghosting. I was honestly surprised at how bad it was. So if you're looking into alt monitors, make sure to check reviews of that. I think that's a big strength of this one is that it keeps up with the refresh rate. Unfortunately I haven't tried any other high refresh rate panels so I can't make any alternate recommendations. I think HDR support has improved on Windows, so I def have less problems, although it might just be that I figured out the quirks. You can always return it (its a pain in the ass but I returned a refurbished one before getting this one cause I thought the refurbished-ness was the problem... it wasn't) But others in the comments have made alt recs, so maybe do a scan! Maybe this is the trade off for the low price?
refurb model is $484 rn. the thing about 1440p is that when i am not gaming...the text looks pixelated. I like crisp text and only 4k @27 can deliver that.
@@soberanisfam1323 get the M28U, it has a faster panel than the XB273K, same picture with better sharpening, and also has lower input lag if you update the firmware.

Just wanted to clarify, I only have the ability to select 60Hz. Is this because im using HDMI port rather than DP? Some help would be very appreciated.
Can you tell me about the game modes? VRB settings? Overdrive settings? I have an Xbox series X and I wonder if having hdr set to auto also creates input lag? I’d like the lowest input lag possible. I bought the 31.5" Predator XB3 Gaming Monitor - XB323QK NVBMIIPRUZX and I need help understanding
you wasted you money bro. it doesnt support 120 hz 4k through hdmi, only display port. unless they make a dongle that can fix that. on i forgot, VRB help with ghosting

Thanks so much!! are you talking about your XB3? I haven't noticed much backlight bleed, on either XB3 that I owned. But all the other problems are still happening lol. Have to restart it, weird HDR issues... but I did see that the Fall Windows update might actually fix the multiple monitor/HDR issues, so fingers crossed!
@@itsdanielpaul Yep I'm talking about Acer XB273KGP. Well maybe it is just my copy of the product and I request the new one. Thanks for the response. Have you done black screen tests for your XB273KGPs?

I just wish it didn't essentially brick my monitor when I tried to use the two cables, otherwise I'd go for it. But 120Hz leaves little to be desired, so I'm happy with it!
It’s only HDMI 2.0 so the HDMI connection supports up to 1440p @ 120Hz. At 2160p it only supports up to 60 Hz unless you use the DisplayPort cable which the ps5 doesn’t have
I just picked one up on Amazon for $650, wayyy below the price of other competitors. I guess there's always a catch lol but hopefully it works out of the box.
it definitely supports 4K 120Hz with HDR enabled, if that's what you mean by 10-bit color. I had issues with 4K 144Hz with HDR enabled though. But honestly 120Hz is great and very smooth in any case.
@@Varillah or just buy a different 4k 144hz monitor that has hdmi 2.1 for like the same price as this one without it lol. Aorus just came out with a nice one earlier this month. I got mine on sale but they go for 1k USD and worth every penny imo. It’s a “super speed” IPS panel that gets the same 1ms response time as a TN panel would. You also get 2 hdmi 2.1 ports as well as DP 1.4, USB C, 2 USB 3.0 ports, as well as an auxiliary port for sound and a microphone input as well
I'd sure love to know how you got HDR working. I've had two of these monitors for almost a year and I've never been able to enable HDR in windows on either computer without half the screen getting greyed out.
are u only using one monitor at a time or multiple monitors? mine has usually recovered from any issue when I unplug all monitors and then plug in this one. also, their customer service is phenomenal, I sent mine in for repairs and they call me like every week to make sure it's still working!
Im pretty sure some of your problems might be related to your GPU. I dont think the DP or HDMI output on it is capable of outputting 4k 10-bit at 144hz. I believe the max that the 1070 can output is 4k 10-bit at 120hz
Series x and ps5 support HDR, Ray Tracing, 4K at 120Hz, 8K at 60HZ, they have an SSD, series x has an AMD zen2 12 teraflop processor, not including the upcoming PS5 PRO, which should put most PC setups to shame.. unless you pay $20,000 for your PC
I've always used consoles and just built my PC (with and RTX3080 FE card) but they are behind when it comes to FPS and graphic performance. My PS5 should in theory be able to do 4k @ 120Hz (for limited games) but I'm sure that is only peak performance and definitely not a constant rate. My PC build definitely can easily output COD Warzone at highest settings with Ray Tracing at 2K or 4K and reach 120Hz with stable performance. The PS5 always has me trade off performance for resolution when it does support 120Hz so far. I love my PS5 but I know it's definitely not up to par as a high end modern PC.
Yeah me too. That's life with this thing. Ever since I turned off HDR mode, it hasn't given me any problems, but at the same time, part of the price is the HDR mode so if I can't use it without having to troubleshoot 24/7, then I would maybe go for a monitor without HDR. And like I mentioned in the review, it's probably partially Windows' fault, but we're at least five revisions and one major update since I did the review, and using HDR still feels like I'm doing a high wire act, hoping this time won't be the time it totally messes up the screen making me have to duck under my desk and fully unplug it and plug it back in. Even then sometimes I have to do a full restart. But if you want a definitive yes or no I'd say go with a less expensive non-HDR monitor because you might never get to use it without problems.
It seems like Predator products always have problems. I want to try their monitors but if I pay over $1000 for a monitor I expect it to work perfectly.
Hi, I’m considering buying an XB3, but I’m wondering if I need two displayport cables to run it at 4k 120hz with gsync on. Can I just use one cable for those settings even though it doesn’t have display stream compression? EDIT: I looked into it some more via reddit and amazon reviews and it *seems* like you can run 4k 120hz with gsync (and HDR if you want) with a single display port connection. I don't think you have to compromise with chroma subsampling in that scenario either. However, with two displayport cables, you can pick two of three options: 4k 144hz, lower response times, and GSYNC. Not all of those can be enabled at once on this display since it doesn't have display stream compression. I ordered one so I can validate this info soon, hopefully that info helps you with your troubles. I don't plan on using HDR so hopefully I won't have to deal with a lot of those issues you mentioned.
hi! it def works at 4k 120Hz with one displyport cable, and gsync on. but I found gsync to be buggier than it was worth. it might be because of my older graphics card, but it def led to bugs.
I'm not a PS5 expert, but I imagine not many games will be able to run at 4K 120Hz, they'll probably be 1440p or 1080p 120 Hz which HDMI 2.0 takes care of.
@@itsdanielpaul yup I’m on pc, I ask because different DP or hdmi versions can support up to certain resolutions and refresh rates from what I understand
Yes, that's correct! I'm not sure if this has HDMI 2.1, I've only used Displayport with it, which supports the highest resolution and frame rate. Unless you're going to connect a PS5 or one of the new XBOX's to it, then all you just need a Displayport cable (which it comes with)
@@itsdanielpaul ah ok, I’ve kind of been scoping around 4k monitors as I currently have a 31.5” 1440p 144hz monitor but want to try out 4k gaming. Been trying to find a 144hz but it seems like the good ones are fairly expensive and im not sure if it’s worth compromising for 60hz.
Yeah 4K is WAY better. And as long as you use the Displayport you'll have no issues! Although you may have to compromise for 120Hz, given my experience trying 144Hz, which is still extremely amazing.
Bro Thankx For telling me that they stuck in monitor i thought i damage the port 2nd Thing if you enable 120ghz then 10 bit colors with get 8 bit you can only use 10 bit if you are using 60ghz
only thing I can find worth the money is Alienware 27 Gaming Monitor - AW2721D. Anyone else have any suggestions that is G-SYNC, NOT this G-sync compatible they keep trying to pretend is gsync. So sick of these garbage salesmen in our tech world.
Really debating on getting this since my 3080 should be able to take advantage, but I'm wondering if the HDR will actually work since I've had windows HDR problems with my older monitor.
I upgraded to a 3080 Ti and just upgraded to Windows 11 and unfortunately, the HDR problems persist. You might have better luck in a single monitor setup, but my dual monitor setup still has problems. Last week I turned off HDR entirely because I was sick of dealing with it. I don't think it's the monitor though, I think it's Windows, or some combo of Windows + Dual Monitors + HDR.
@@DeadWolf47x haha let me rephrase, Windows 10 had HDR problems that I expected Windows 11 to fix, but they're still there, unfortunately. Other than that Windows 11 is great! I'd def recommend upgrading. Honestly, if you buy it from Amazon you have a 30-day return period, I returned the first one I bought (it was refurb I thought the refurbish-ness was causing the problems), it was super easy barely an inconvenience!
I got a 3070 Ti with a Ryzen 5800k for about 1091$ this week the 144hz may be overkill if I’m playing 4k but can also play 1440p / 1080p for high frame rates. I bought yesterday on eBay for 297 bucks.
It's not real HDR if it's several HDR 400 monitors it's not HDR it doesn't have localized dimming and it's not even close to 600 nits I have a 580 nit HDR 400 monitor that far surpasses the 400s that are in 350 to 450 nit range and doesn't even hold a candle to ones with 600 HDR and 1,000 HDR with local dimming those are really HDR This is still the best gaming 4K monitor you can get for this price
Yeah HDR1000 monitors are WAY more expensive. I dunno if I'd say this isn't "real" HDR, like I said in the review, I was blown away when I used this at first! Maybe this is like, the 1080p of HDR vs ur HDR1000 would be like 4K. but I def wanted to buy a 1000 monitor but couldn't stomach the price.
You need to enable 144 hz in the monitors menus before you can use it but no need to use more than one DP cables. This monitor can't do HDR anyway with no dimming zones so not worth the bother. If you want to do it anyways, make sure to get a good DP cable that has enough bandwidht. Good luck :)
I mean if you want 4K 144Hz u need two cables, might be different for 1440p... and I still love the HDR on the monitor even tho the blacks are def not super black like my mini LED TV.
@@itsdanielpaul The Acer X27 can do 4K@144hz with only one DP cable. With some limitations though. But just realized that this one does not have a GSync module, but don't think that should make a difference but it could.
well I just tried it every which way and it definitely doesn't do 144hz with one cable, I can turn that setting on, but it still only goes to 120Hz. with HDR on and off, gsync on and off, 2160p, 1440p, it never let me select 144Hz. it did work with two cables tho, when I first got it for a few minutes before the monitor got temporarily bricked lol.
@@itsdanielpaul And you lowered the color to 4:2:2 first? Should be automatic but not sure what GPU you run and I know there are quite a few problems regarding this even though it should work (as you might have noticed :D ). Maybe you can have a look at the XV273 screen which I reacall was the first one to launch with dual DP to get 4k@144hz@4:4:4, you had to disable freesync if memory serves me right.
@@itsdanielpaul A bit late but it's a limitation of DP 1.4.. there's just not enough bandwith to put through 4k @ 144 hz. DP 1.4 max => 25.92 Gbit/s 3840x2160 @ 120 Hz => 25.89 Gbit/s 3840x2160 @ 144 Hz => 31.35 Gbit/s That's why a single cable's not able to provide 144 Hz @ 4k One could play around with limiting / changing color format to YCBCR 4∶2∶2 or 4:2:0 If you plug in two cables windows will detect 2 monitors.. the 144 Hz Option is there just to pretend beeing 1 monitor. With the two cables it has enough bandwith to provide 144 Hz. While gaining 144 Hz G-Sync isn't available anymore. I don't know how it is with the non GP model which seems to have an actual G-Sync module where as the GP has no actual module and is just "compatible" so no idea how this one behaves but My XB273K GP behaves as described above with the usual quirks regarding HDR.
Hey dude if you stick with the youtube thing you could make it big. You have the look, presentation style, and articulation of a professional youtube. Just my two cents.
LOL some tech review, setting up 4k 144hz is easy: make sure dp port 1 is hooked up to the 1st display port on your gpu, do the same with 2, have it on the second one. restart your system. Not rocket science.
its a pretty awful implementation, especially since there's nothing in the instructions about it. Check out the video I just put out, I go into this lol
Honestly its super confusing. They call it XB3 on their website, but I think that's just the family of monitors. XB273K GP is the name of this monitor specifically.
its not worth the headache for me. i did all the things and then had to jump through hoops to get the monitor back to normal. I just got a 3080 Ti so I might try again, I'll let you know!
Glad you asked I think I'm gonna make an update video because Windows 11 is just as bad. It's still giving me the same problems :( I have HDR off now all the time because if it's on, its still a huge headache. I just tried again cause apparently there's a big HDR fix that just came out but its still bad lol
The only issue would be that the PS5 outputs via HDMI 2.1 for 4K @ 120Hz. And the Predator only supports HDMI 2.0, so you would get 4K @ 60Hz no problem. But you would need a Displayport connection to get 4K @ 120Hz, so on PS5 you'd be out of luck. But if you are okay with 60Hz, the HDR is fantastic and the 4K is super crisp.
I feel like wait a year and get something with mini-LED backlight, esp if its for your PS5/regular television use and not for a computer. I have a TCL 6-series and the black levels are gorgeous due to its mini-LED backlight. It doesn't support HDMI 2.1 unfortunately, but I'm sure widespread adoption is not far off.
@@itsdanielpaul I honestly wouldn’t wait for mini led cuz they’re even more expensive and tbh for gaming it’s really not that big of a deal. If that’s what’s important to you, by all means go for it. But I’m more than satisfied with my hdr400 LCD display and I think most everyone else will be too! I also wouldn’t hook a console to a regular tv unless I had no other choice, but to each their own!
Must suck having a $10,000 pc and can’t pull 120hz in 4K without getting a $6000 RTX 3000 series lol (possibly a 3090) My $500 series x can do it. My whole gaming setup for series x is about $2300 and I can pull 4K at 120hz. Setup isn’t cheap either.. top shelf ROCCAT Mouse/key, high end rig headset, Xbox series x, Xbox elite series 2 controller, acer predator xb3 x273k monitor and an hdmi 2.1-display port 1.4 adapter.. BOOM
most games will run at a lower resolution to reach 120hz. series x gpu is roughly equivalent to a 2080. Even 3080s have trouble with 4k 60hz modern games. You think a series x will be able to run what a 3080 cant? And series x does not have access to steam , epic games , VR etc.
This review is amazing and you’re hysterical. Thanks man! Keep it up

Most HDR600 and HDR1000 displays have edge lit dimming zones which look terrible in practice. Yes they do get brighter than an HDR400 display but that is just a paper spec. The HDR400 will look better thanks to having no local dimming.
thanks for the info! I haven't tried an HDR1000 monitor yet but will definitely wait for mini LED or OLED before I do
Great review man. You certified my decision! Thanks a lot !
Wow dude I thought you had 500k subs just saw bro you're a new Chan keep it going you'll be big time
hey thanks man! that means a lot ☺️✌️
Great review, man!
thanks buddy for the pain you endure so i don't have to ! guess i will be waiting for a standard and easy to use 144 hz 4k monitor with g-sync !
hahaha thank you!! i CAN say that HDR support I think got improved in the last windows update, but I am still constantly plugging and unplugging, and am still using extension cables because the placement of the ports make NO SENSE.
Try it..
RISE OF THE CONSOLES!!!!!!
There's a True G-Sync one. The one with G-Sync module I believe have a lil fan on the back as well. That one doesn't require to plug both DP to achieve 144hz I believe. Great video btw
You got a link for this model?

You deserve alot more subs. Keep it up. I'm glad I found your channel. Thank you for the review. I'm surely not buying this monitor, might consider a 1440p LG. Thank you for the content.
thanks man! yeah if you're not a resolution junkie like me, 1440p is great. but at this point I need my computer monitor to be 4K, I hate seeing the pixels lol
Get a 4K monitor! Trust me. I have a 1440p and 1080p. Does not compare to a 4K.
Great review, Keep it up bruv🤟
None of the other reviews for this monitor mentioned the 2 display port cable thing. I find it hard to believe you would need 2 cables to hit 144Hz.
Idk bout yall but i have one and I love it. Never had one problem with it and it looks great.
Tell me more! Are you on one monitor or more than one? Do you have HDR on? Which Windows are you using?
I am using an RTX 3060. I found out that you have to criss cross your Direct Port cables for 4k 144hz. Then you have to turn it on in the monitor settings. which is wiggity wiggity WACK! CrissCross will make it work!
Wish I had seen this before buying one.
@@itsdanielpaul I thought it was the same model. But I guess not because mine has a gsync module. It says XB3
Its a super confusing naming scheme cause it says XB3 on the box of mine, but in the fine print, it's actually XB273GP. Sad they didn't fix the inputs! Such bizarre placement lol
@@itsdanielpaul wow, yeah I totally agree!
Same here. Fantastic monitor. G-sync works like a charm.
I will update this should issues occur.
ill watch more thnks
I'm definitely hoping that Windows 11 alleviates a lot of these multi-monitor setup issues
I'm trying to decide between this and a 4k Samsung Odyssey.
I cannot get the monitor to run at 144hz. I plugged in the second DP cable and it did nothing.
whats the deal with freesync on this. I seem to always have tearing despite having it on
How did you set up yours to be able to run 4K 120 Hz gaming on an Xbox series X because that’s what I have and I can’t do it I just won’t let me and I have a ultra high speed 2.1 hdmi cable so it should work
I think it only has hdmi 2.0 . From what I understand you can play 4k but only at 60hz. Atleast thats the case with ps5. And i hardly belive the xboxx or ps5 will be able to play games at 4k 120hz. But at lower resolutions you will be able to get 120hz which is great.
honestly 120Hz is much better than 4K, so if u have to lower the resolution to get it, do it!
I have had lots of trouble with HDR with this monitor; even if i "get it working" games still look wonky
From reading the forums, it looks like many people had this experience with no fix ever released.
i found out that you have you have to criss-cross your direct port cables.. mine wakes up just fine. I'm using a 3060, btw

Just wanted to clarify, I only have the ability to select 60Hz. Is this because im using HDMI port rather than DP? Some help would be very appreciated.
Yeah that makes sense, DP is the way to go for 4K 120Hz
Can you tell me about the game modes?

Overdrive settings?
I have an Xbox series X and I wonder if having hdr set to auto also creates input lag?
I’d like the lowest input lag possible.

Mine has serious backlight bleed in the upper right corner. Too bad I might need to return it. I noticed the same windows hdr problem.
Would like to hear about backlight bleed problems with this one. I have dell IPS and compared to the normal IPS glow. And btw great review!
Thanks so much!! are you talking about your XB3? I haven't noticed much backlight bleed, on either XB3 that I owned. But all the other problems are still happening lol. Yeah a single DP 1.4 cable caps out at 120hz at 4k, unfortunate.
I just wish it didn't essentially brick my monitor when I tried to use the two cables, otherwise I'd go for it. But 120Hz leaves little to be desired, so I'm happy with it!
Great review! I have it now, and with the PS5, and I’m only getting 60 fps, any idea how to fix it?
It’s only HDMI 2.0 so the HDMI connection supports up to 1440p @ 120Hz. At 2160p it only supports up to 60 Hz unless you use the DisplayPort cable which the ps5 doesn’t have
Hey Dan how did you end up getting the display port out from the monitor side without breaking it?
@Slim Dim I haven’t done it yet but I’ll keep that in mind when I have to move my monitor!
I just picked one up on Amazon for $650, wayyy below the price of other competitors. I guess there's always a catch lol but hopefully it works out of the box.

Hey great review, does this monitor support 4K 120hz and 10bit enable at the same time?
it definitely supports 4K 120Hz with HDR enabled, if that's what you mean by 10-bit color. I had issues with 4K 144Hz with HDR enabled though. But honestly 120Hz is great and very smooth in any case.

Im pretty sure some of your problems might be related to your GPU. I dont think the DP or HDMI output on it is capable of outputting 4k 10-bit at 144hz. I believe the max that the 1070 can output is 4k 10-bit at 120hz
Well I've got a 3080 Ti now, I'm scared to try but I will. For science!!

No. Works with one DP cable. Use a suitable DP cable version though..
😂
I have a PS5 and even I know you’re smoking crack
I've always used consoles and just built my PC (with and RTX3080 FE card) but they are behind when it comes to FPS and graphic performance. My PS5 should in theory be able to do 4k @ 120Hz (for limited games) but I'm sure that is only peak performance and definitely not a constant rate. My PC build definitely can easily output COD Warzone at highest settings with Ray Tracing at 2K or 4K and reach 120Hz with stable performance. The PS5 always has me trade off performance for resolution when it does support 120Hz so far. I love my PS5 but I know it's definitely not up to par as a high end modern PC.
but does ps5 have steam? epic games?
so is it good or bad whats the sound like of the monitor I have more questions than answers from your review
I had this one in my amazon cart but after watching your review .. im... 😬
Watch your 3 years later just bought 3 for Xbox at 300.00 it’s hard price to beat for 4K hdmi 2.1 for Xbox
I just had to troubleshoot so much! Hope it works out :)
It seems like Predator products always have problems. I want to try their monitors but if I pay over $1000 for a monitor I expect it to work perfectly.
I got this for well under $1000, which might be why it has problems? Or its just Windows, which I sort of think is probably it.
@@itsdanielpaul thank you for your answer this is the exact question I was going to ask. U got a new sub👍
Would it be good for my Playstation 5
Is this monitor have HDMI 2.0 Or 2.1 ????
Should I still buy this one or wait for HDMI 2.1? I’m planning to buy for PS5
I'm not a PS5 expert, but I imagine not many games will be able to run at 4K 120Hz, they'll probably be 1440p or 1080p 120 Hz which HDMI 2.0 takes care of.
it’s better being used for a new gen console
i got it used for 200 usd do you think it was a good purchase
Great deal!
Hey man I hope you see this I was wondering if you know why it doesn’t work with an Xbox series x
it doesn't work at all? or just the high refresh rate? it's probably because the monitor only supports HDMI 2.0 so you're not gonna get 120Hz output
did you try hdmi 2.1 by any chance? Want to get a 4k monitor for gaming but not sure if it is worth compromising going back to 60hz refresh rate
I did not try HDMI 2.1. are u tryna use this on a PlayStation? for PC every graphics card has had display port for at least 6 years now
@@itsdanielpaul yup I’m on pc, I ask because different DP or hdmi versions can support up to certain resolutions and refresh rates from what I understand
Yes, that's correct! I'm not sure if this has HDMI 2.1, I've only used Displayport with it, which supports the highest resolution and frame rate. Unless you're going to connect a PS5 or one of the new XBOX's to it, then all you just need a Displayport cable (which it comes with)

@@itsdanielpaul I plan to just use one monitor, and I won't be upgrading windows, so technically I shouldn't have any issues with it ?

DP 1.4 max => 25.92 Gbit/s
3840x2160 @ 120 Hz => 25.89 Gbit/s
3840x2160 @ 144 Hz => 31.35 Gbit/s
That's why a single cable's not able to provide 144 Hz @ 4k
One could play around with limiting / changing color format to YCBCR 4∶2∶2 or 4:2:0
If you plug in two cables windows will detect 2 monitors.. the 144 Hz Option is there just to pretend beeing 1 monitor. With the two cables it has enough bandwith to provide 144 Hz. While gaining 144 Hz G-Sync isn't available anymore.
I don't know how it is with the non GP model which seems to have an actual G-Sync module where as the GP has no actual module and is just "compatible"
so no idea how this one behaves but My XB273K GP behaves as described above with the usual quirks regarding HDR.

did you ever figure out how to run it at 144hz?
its not worth the headache for me. i did all the things and then had to jump through hoops to get the monitor back to normal. I just got a 3080 Ti so I might try again, I'll let you know!
Requires using both DP in the right order, couldn't get it to work with HDR though so I'll live with 120 hertz
@@xcelerate1000 YES, I can't imagine going from 120Hz -> 144Hz is better than HDR haha
I ended up getting it and just plugging everything in and it works fine, hdr and 144hz. I had to turn off a setting tho i’m not sure which one.
@@complexsetup3204 did u know how u did this bc i wanna play 4k 144 hz but for me just work 4k 120 hz its so sad
Any update with Windows 11?
Glad you asked I think I'm gonna make an update video because Windows 11 is just as bad. It's still giving me the same problems :( I have HDR off now all the time because if it's on, its still a huge headache. I just tried again cause apparently there's a big HDR fix that just came out but its still bad lol
@@itsdanielpaul That HDR update is what prompted my question! Thank you for the quick reply!
Lol how are you going to have this monitor and use it with the 1070. That shit can barely handle 4k 60hz. Smh
Does this have hdmi ports for a ps4?
100%!
U da man for responding thank you
no problem!
Would Ps5 run well with this?
The only issue would be that the PS5 outputs via HDMI 2.1 for 4K @ 120Hz. And the Predator only supports HDMI 2.0, so you would get 4K @ 60Hz no problem. But you would need a Displayport connection to get 4K @ 120Hz, so on PS5 you'd be out of luck. But if you are okay with 60Hz, the HDR is fantastic and the 4K is super crisp.
I would buy the Aorus FI32U. It’s about the same price, 1K USD, but it has HDMI 2.1 so it could in theory run your ps5 at 4K/120
@@itsdanielpaul I think u can do 1080 @120
The reason why 144hz 4k didn't work for you is because your graphics card couldn't handle it
Must suck having a $10,000 pc and can’t pull 120hz in 4K without getting a $6000 RTX 3000 series lol (possibly a 3090) My $500 series x can do it.
In essence, it's useless
Why you so damn cute though omg
Ahahaha ur too sweet
Instead of showing your face talking for most of the video, a monitor review should contain shots of monitor.. This is so basic
