Love to know how you're using the shutter release cable at 7:15. When you meter the shot with your external light meter, do you use the shutter dial to select the shutter time (2 seconds in this example) at F22 focused on infinity? I'm assuming you're not in Bulb mode for these daylight shots. Thanks for the video!
I'm so thankful for this video. It has set me at ease about choosing to use Ektar for the sand dunes in Colorado. It will be my first time using medium format (starting with 645 like many do) and my first time really having a go at delving into landscape as well. Again thank you so much!
Hey man. I think Portra 160 will be great as well. Make sure you treat Ektar like slide film and allow for reciprocity failure. Keep it simple and compose with the shapes and tones in mind. Good luck!

@@StephenMilner Does not this illustrate why the Mamiya 7, as a lightly built rangefinder, is a relatively poor choice of camera for landscapes? It's virtue is compact size and light weight, neither attribute being much of a premium for shooting landscapes, which are most often shot on a tripod. Add its limited range of lenses, lack of TTL viewing, and rather excessive cost. While it has fine lenses, so do others.
Great results! So far I have always had problems with the film, especially scanning is not that easy. I like it very much again with your recordings, nice colors and a nice composition.

Thanks. It is a 100mm Formatt Hitech system with some Nisi filters. On my Mamiya 6, I used the Nisi 75mm system. I used 2 stop and 3 stop medium edge grad filters, ND filters and a polariser.

Yes, it will work. Check if all the lenses are 67mm. Remember, it’s a rangefinder and you will not see the filter effect through the viewfinder, so some guess work is involved.
I havent finished the video yet but im loving the no music calm feeling of your editing and way of speaking, id also want to recommend a fujifilm gx680 for landscape photography since it has lens articulation and you might find that useful for what you are doing
@@StephenMilner id say it wouldnt be much worse than a mamiya since its just a bit bulkier and a kg or so heavier, and youre definitely build sturdy enough to just freehand it if desired
There can be 5 stops between the shadows and the bright areas. Using a filter allows me to lift the shadows and balance out the bright areas with the foreground.
Hi I used this one but had to modify it slightly by cutting the lip in the bottom plate with a small hacksaw. It was easy to do. Universal Quick Release L Plate Vertical Bracket For Nikon D750
Love the early morning pictures but didn’t realise than film was a lot more brighter than what I’ve seen on vid. Are you tensionally overexposed? Last one is my favourite. Cheers
Hey Stephen, some really beautiful images of the dunes. I like the simplicity that you caught on camera in combination with some very beautiful tones and colors. I like the brightness in the images and the kind of lower contrast to the scenerys. I also own a mamiya 7 (in this case a 7II) and i like it much. but honestly i mostly shoot with an old hasselblad as i am struggling with the range finder cameras a bit. My last trip was to the Lofoten (ruclips.net/video/I5FJm0j4XFY/видео.html) and I really enjoyed making images again Sometimes I have a problem with the mamiy a7II and the film advance lever. Very irregularly after making an image I want to wind to the next picture, but the film advance lever doenst move. The image is done, but I cant wind to the next image. Till now I do not have found a solution. I tried to rub the contacts, changed the battery but nothing could really solve the problem. I also do not know how to make the lever move. Sometimes its enough to just switch the camera on and off. Sometimes i close and open the curtain or change the exposure time after setting it to manual mode. Did you have a similar problem so far? Thanks for getting touch. I mostly crop to 6X6 and sometimes think about moving to the 500cm. Great video and thanks for sharing, you live in a beautiful place. Once, I had an issue with the shutter. I had only had the camera for a few weeks and I was playing around with the shutter release cable whilst I had film loaded. I am not sure how, but I locked up the shutter mechanism and it would not fire. I had to open the back door to reset the shutter and I lost my film. Luckily, the camera started working and the issue has never happened again. There is a company in the US that repairs them called Precision Camera Works. You should send it to them. Good luck

Thank you. Basically, you guess. I would put the filter in the holder and look through it and adjust it before I put it on the lens.

Silly question perhaps, can we change ISO during a roll? Shot to shot? Or do we keep all 36 shots at the same ISO. How does this work?
Hi, yes you can change the ISO settings mid roll if the camera will let you do that. It is the same as adding exposure compensation.
