I appreciate sound teaching as i am a minister who sometimes need scripture to be broken down.I pray the blessings of God on you, your family and in the circle of your church.May God continue to keep you in his place of perfect peace aside from the wiles of distraction..amen
I’m sure you can relate, in ministry we simply give what God has given us. I can tell you’re a real student of the word if you’re searching YT for additional study resources. God bless you as He continues to take you higher. And thank you so much for the prayers, most encouraging 🙏🏽✝️
Hi, enjoying the lesson. My comment is I can see both reasons for David not building the temple. We have all kinds of wars. We war with our flesh and to do the will of God sometimes. Blood on your hands I thought meant, murder. That's like when they took Jesus before Pilate. He said, I wash my hands, meaning he knew Jesus was innocent. Or is this different?
First off, you ask amazing questions and I so enjoy them❗️ Secondly, I can see it both ways as well, totally agree…but I stand most firm that David was rejected from building the temple because he was a man of war and not an ethical implication of those wars. Not at this point in 2 Sam 7. Let’s see: 1. 1 Chr. 22:8 says David shed much blood in God’s sight. This seems to indicate not all the wars David fought were God willed. 2. 1 Sam. 17:28 - David’s older brother accused him of just wanting to see a battle? Was David drawn to violence? Possibly! 3. Matt. 5:9 - Blessed are the peacemakers…as you said there’s more than one way to fight a war as there are all kinds of wars. David certainly was not a peacemaker. But here’s where I turn a corner… 4. 1 Kings 5:4 - clearly calls the enemies David fought in wars “adversaries” and “evil”. 5. 1 Chr. 14:10 - David often inquired of God before he went to war. 6. David has Uriah killed in 2 Sam 11, and this seems the most flagrant argument that David was a murder, but it had already been prophesied in 2 Sam 7 that he wouldn’t build the temple. If 2 Sam is chronological, this wouldn’t be a factor. 7. 1 Chr. 22:8 (David) in contrast verse 9 (Solomon) almost seems to contrast the Old verse New Covenant. As to say the old covenant was one of blood shed and the new is one of peace. It’s a slight reach but I like the imagery in that Jesus is the minister of peace just as Solomon was given rest from war through God. Again, I can go both ways…I would much rather scripture say that the wars were clearly sin and that disqualified him, in order for me to draw that conclusion. Just as Moses was disqualified from the promise land because he disobeyed God.
