    Seniors should also know to send a cease and desist or any legal paper send it REGISTERED MAIL SIGNATURE UPON RECEIVE OF LETTER. THE COURT WILL WANT TO SEE WRITTEN PROOF OF LETTER AND WHEN IT WAS
    RECEIVED. Many companies will deny that you ever sent them any letter if it is sent with just a stamp. I am a former bill collector.

    Hello I called the attorneys office last year for help. I wasn’t able to get a clear explanation at the time, because the attorney was talking over my head. I hope this particular lady is no longer in the office with attorney Eric Olsen.
    We are working with Optima Tax services, they say they are representing us. Here lately we are being re-evaluated by them to possibly pay more on our debt to IRS. IT WAS NOT UNTIL I MADE A COMPLAINT ON BBB thatOptima is making a settlement offer to IRS.
    The bother is that they keep asking us for bank statements etc. so much paperwork. Now they are talking about taking a closer look at the equity in our home. As seniors I told Optima tax services that they are harassing us. We really feel this way. I told them I can’t keep gathering all this paperwork in a short amount of time; because I’m the main caregiver for my spouse. How can HELPS help us?

      NO they still can file a suit the letter is only for them not to harass you. YOU will be served if a law suit is file, after you are served, you have so many days to answer the law suit only if you contest it which, why would you contest it, knowing you owe the money,after the time is up, they can, and most likely will get a judgment against you

    What I'm concerned about right now are egregious County property tax assessments. People are seeing 50, 100, 300, 400% and much much higher increases right now (2023) Many senior's and disabled people will become homeless (i'm at high risk). We have very little recourse and our property is not protected like with private debts.

      You can always lose a portion of SS benefits because of an overpayment. I wouldn't trust some person waving a flag to necessarily make a completely truthful statement. If there was a problem, then there was a reason for it. For example, maybe she was overpaid or didn't report income as required. They can reduce your SS by 10%. Then you shout
      "They took my SS away!!!" Not quite my friend, they reduced it by 10% after giving you an opportunity to contest it and the reason they took it is because you didn't report something you were to have reported. It is not just some random act. Eric HELPS

    How do we get credit so we can borrow money ? Do we borrow money and pay the money back ? or do we borrow money and lose 7.6 percent Interest ? Or do we Get a credit card and then default on it Just to get credit ? If you default on a credit card you get no credit .

    • @lindaelliott1653
      @lindaelliott1653 3 года назад +1

      Usually capital one is the easiest credit card to get to start rebuilding your credit. A lot of times the credit limit is $300. If you can get the card and make your payments on time for six months then they will raise the amount you can charge to a much higher amount. After about a year you might get other credit card offers such as one with no interest for 18 months, or something like that. However, if you get a credit card and just don’t pay it and default it could put your credit score even lower so don’t do that.

      : I found department store cards were the best bc the fastest way to build/rebuild credit (i.e. Macy's, JC Penny, Sears, etc.).
      I would charge the item(s), then make a cash payment @ same time.
      This builds credit by using your card and eliminates any finance charges which would accrue by the time you get your statement.

    Hi can I ask advice please I’ll
    Didn’t sign nothing but I put 200 down for a bankruptcy lawyer but I did that too soon then I seen that the government is helping me with my mortgage and not only that my lawn service is with tampering I don’t know but my files got leaked out and it messed with my modification loan so I asked him for my money back but he the attorney went to this and when when I feel like I have to argue for something especially man I’m just like OK whatever in but I never answered his phone call after that so actually he got $200 for nothing I don’t know if I could if there’s a way I can get my money back because I never sign nothing and he never done nothing for me

    • @HELPSLawGroup
      @HELPSLawGroup 2 года назад

      A lot of attorneys advertise that they will consult with someone about bankruptcy for no charge. If that was the case you may want to try again. Explain that the consultation was at no charge. Maybe you could ask them to pay you $100. Bottom line is that if he doesn't refund the money probably nothing you can do. He might say that by opening a file etc he earned the $200 for his fee. You could complain to the state bar association but it may get you nowhere. Eric HELPS.

    Then how can a judge allow a debt collector to garnish a 67 yrs old seniors social security retirement when they only receive $1030 a month?

    • @HELPSLawGroup
      @HELPSLawGroup Год назад

      A judge has no say in the matter. Social Security is protected from garnishment by federal law. Only exception is taxes, child support and student loans but often taxes and student loans. But with income that low taxes and student loans won't need to be paid

      SSI cannot be garnished for past due child support. However other forms of SS can be garnished up to 60%. So if he is only paying $75 he may have a very sweet deal Eric HELPS

    Why not just live on several credit cards paying the minimum until death and let your estate pay the rest off. Say you have $300,000 home, mortgage paid off, all equity. Why get entangled in reverse mortgage? I have 12 credit cards, excellent credit, I'm 73, no heirs, but property and school taxes keep rising! Need a new vehicle. Always paid off entire balance. But now it's harder because my income is under $2500 a month. House needs upkeep. That $300,000 sits there frustrating me because I cannot access it to live on. No spouse. No children. I'm lucky to live another 10 years given my genetics. Why not just put all expenses on credit I have cumulatively close to 90,000 . Pay minimum monthly. Sounds easier to me. What would you suggest? As for hel, you are adding a monthly payment to your already rising monthly costs. Why? I'm not anti-reverse mortgage, but why let a mortgage company take their cut when you can live on your credit cards, no collectors after you if you're paying minimum due, and frankly your already excellent credit score is not suffering because you're paying the minimum due?
    PS, I HAVE NO DEBT.

    It's very simple. Don't answer you phone, don't sign any registered mail and just don't pay your debt. Most people in this country are either not paying their debt or getting into to the country illegally and being paid by our government. I worked all my life. Screw everyone that wants my money. I don't even need credit anymore. Go ahead, make my day and ruin my credit.
