Perhaps another strategy could be the sacrifice. You use a piece of yours for your opponent to capture, sacrificing the piece perhaps for a later on advantage over your opponent or for victory itself. The strategy for life could be to detach yourself from something that had its use in the past, but holding you back in the present.
