The charcoal to remove the smell is a great idea & will work & there's also a special paint that will seal the wall & end the smell. Then you paint the walls & ceiling your color choice. Good luck!
After my second shot, I had the same reaction. I tried sleeping, kept waking up in the middle of the night struggling to breathe a bit. I kept waking up over the night with chills, but covered in pools of sweat. It was not fun. It took a day and a half for me to recover. Glad to see more people getting vaccinated, especially y'all!

Don't use normal vinegar to get rid of the smell. I believe the english word I'm looking for is "spirit vinegar" or "acetum" (the swedish word is "ättika" if you have any swedish friends that can help out with the translation if mine is incorrect) with a concentrate of 24% (or more). Pour it in to a bowl and leave it in a room for a week or two (make sure to refill). It removes ALL of the tobacco smell. CONGRATS ON THE NEW HOUSE! :D
The using a bag of active charcoal idea is a good one, because many types of filters systems use carbon as some part of the filtration process. So it makes sense that a open bag of active charcoal would aid at draw in the odors and bacteria; however, one will want to rotate eplace the charcoal every month or so.
You should watch the 2014 UOT Admiral McRaven Commencement speech titled "If You Want to Change the World, Start Off by Making Your Bed." It's wildly inspiring. Just do a search for it.
For smaller items and spaces that have a weird or strong smell, dryer sheets work really good. I had a gasoline container tip over in my trunk and soaked my backpack and laptop and I filled my backpack and covered my computer with dryers sheets for days and the smell over time went away. Cool thing the laptop still works after 5 years.
Without reading through the comments, often times people will use anything but a flat ceiling paint which makes it harder for the water to soak through to the texture. Just use more hot water in the sprayer and let it soak more and more each time. If you knock off the peaks in an initial pass, this will help for the next few sprays of water. I have done several semi-gloss painted ceilings (no idea why anyone would paint semi-gloss ceilings) with just water and a mud/tape knife.
For the smell. Mask up, put on tyvek overalls & pull the carpet & pad. Use an ozone generator if you want. Paint every surface with an oil based primer like Kilz. Then air out your house for a couple of days. If your budget allows, please consider hiring professionals. Painters could finish the entire interior in a day.
To take popcorn down get it wet. Use a pump sprayer and get just wet enough to see that it's wet. Spray half the room and then start scraping where you first sprayed. Use a 14" drywall knife, attach it to a broom stick (tape it or get a knife with a screw in handle. Ok Just tape it to a long pole). It will come off like a pro if you just push gently. Good luck.

I´d say the best way of holding on to a routine would be to do it everyday and never skip. When you skip one day, you´re basically screwed. That why it´s easier to fulfil routines that occur every day, or every monday, and harder to fulfil routines that consist of doing the laundry more often, or eating healthier. So if you want to be Spiderman, make mondays and thursdays the healthy routine days!

For the smell, I highly suggest trying out Carpet & Cloth Re-Fresher from Meguire's. We use it in our house to handle the smell of our pets and it does amazing! It might help with the smoke and mildew you're dealing with from the previous owners.
If you still don’t feel good waking up after making the changes you mentioned you might want to get a sleep study done to see if you have apnea. I found out recently that I’ve had it undiagnosed for years. The Cpap machine takes some getting used to, but I wake up feeling rested most days.
If a hotel room is left smelly they will often have an ozone generator to leave in the room to remove smells. You can't stay in the room with it on but they have a timer - turn it on and leave the room and come back after its finished. Worked fine on a car that smelt of cigarette smoke.
Some charcoal does absorb smells. When I was in Iraq and we wore our chemical suits, its was lined with charcoal which was awesome because it helped control the B.O. since we lacked showers during the start back in 2003.
If you tape plastic sheets to the edge of your walls and ceilings, and ceilings, you can soaked the ceiling a lot more and you can practically scrape the popcorn ceiling off like butter.
I’ve been using anker products for years, I needed something reliable when on set because I was a digitech on big photo productions. They are not the cheapest, but they definitely won’t give you any issues.

Just remember, there's no such thing as an emergency email. Emails that are time sensitive should get transferred to a countdown to-do list (there are lots of great apps for that). Pomodoro is an excellent way of managing basic tasks like emails and voicemails. Also, keep a timer going for responses to stop time from disappearing into a vortex of small talk.
I have found those USB hubs that don't have the cable dongle seem to not seat correctly. Especially if you have a case over your MB Pro. I switch to the one like the Anker and now no longer have any issues.
Another thing that people do to eliminate smells is baking soda. I lot of people used to have a box of it in their refrigerators to absorb the smells. I don't know how much you would need for a whole room though.

Some pros in my area rent drywall sanders with flexible heads to sand off popcorn ceilings. A HEPA vac hooked to it is a great idea too. Side effects can be crazy. A close friend ended up in the ER via ambulance after Moderna shot 2 a day and a half after getting it. The next day they were fine and had a ton of energy....not sure if the IV had anything to do with it. Trevor from astro backyard has great astronomy content.
Great you are having a routine but some people are good in multi tasking others better in single tasking. If you feel like some things are to much just outsource it and do what you do best. 🙏🏾✨ we think we need to be able to do everything nowadays. i got both moderna shots and thankfully i didnt fall sick after either of them. only thing was that my arm was in PAIN and the pain was worse the second time that i couldnt even move my arm. i took some tylenol and it went away the next day.
