Your voice is soothing, like a pleasant drunk that's sad he got drunk, but isn't drunk at all. You have bed time story cadence, or powerful lesson inflection
I’m so happy I found this channel. I can relate now that my original collection is aging I find myself replacing or modifying more consoles from my childhood. Started by replacing the pins in my old NES. Just had to replace the disc drive in my Wii.
I watched all your bimmy vides a while back and this popped in my feed today lol. Very solid video! You botched a few pads there which is pretty common for the first one. If you do another one, use lots of tacky flux, conical tip and tin the pad not the leg. just keep the tip on the pad at the base of the leg and pry with your exacto knife or dental tool. That's what works for me. fine tip + heat the pad is the secret sauce for the leg lifting. it's what works for me at least :D
This guys knows his stuff. Love the videos man. I found your channel when I was learning about HDDs in PS2s and FMCB. I watch your vids whenever they pop up in my feed 🤙
You can get one for a few dollars on Amazon. Weirdly I actually found that dental pick in the street and I kept it because I’m a dirty raccoon boy. True story.
Thanks for the few pointers I needed. I just bought a set, but it came without instructions. Just the reader, an FFC cable and two QSBs. It was very doable.
I’ve got multiple PS1s but never did this mod so I picked up the board and plan on installing in a few days. For some reason I’ve always skipped doing anything for the PS1 and this will go great with my Dreamcast and it’s GDEMU. Also, this was one of my favorite tutorial videos to check out. Awesome content. Subscribed.
Another (probably easier) way to remove stickers that I realized just within the last couple years is to use a hair dryer or heat gun; it should peel off pretty easily with little to no residue, but Goo Gone will take care of that either way.
Yes and it's a good thing we already own allllll these games that are now so expensive so that we can make legitimate backups of them all to conveniently and reliably play them on our original hardware!!!
I have this same crime killer cover sticker that was included in a PSM magazine issue, I put a thrill kill one on a spare PS1 I have. I was also lucky enough to get a ps1 for 15$ years ago and it was also modded so it reads all games and backups.
Interesting developments in the world of the slobs...two of them (Tony and Keiran) are both gone, and Newt has been opening up more about how they operated on a personal level on his recent live streams the last couple of weeks
I don't understand adding a power brick..... was your PSU having problems? I wouldn't make my system more bulky. If it was a cleanpower micro-USB plug I might do that.
It's kinda expensive NGL you can find a cheaper classic psx mini hack it with autobleem which is actually much easier and faster and no hard modding needed and you can still install ALL PS1 games and other emulators. TBH if you have the money and you into this is still fine.
pardon, i skip the intro because it was too long and i only need the tutorial on xStation installation. But why did you change the power supply into Pico?
I definitely wouldn’t consider myself a guru per se but I’ve modded 10+ consoles with similar solder boards/ribbons and after watching videos on the x station I am considering what the freaking point was from the developer vs using the time to just figure out the OD port and make an ODE compatible with literally every model…?
I'll actually be doing a video about that very topic soon! But the modded original hardware does feel more authentic and has less lag. The emulation is pretty good though, so I'll cover that soon.
This seems like a fun project but the price is a little to much for me. I can see spending maybe $50-$60 but over $100 after tax and shipping. Nah I'm good.
Also EJ I couldn't help but notice your fingernails are getting a bit long. Might want to look into getting those trimmed for optimal performance. Thanks.
This isn't directed at you and I totally get this process is for a different intended experience overall, but can I just say in general how complicated this seems to me compared to building a PC from parts? I don't understand how console enthusiasts can be totally fine with board level modifications and soldering as part of their hobby but seemingly completely baffled by throwing together a couple pieces of hardware spec'd to fit with some screws. Am I crazy?

"I got an ordinary dental pick" Is this something I'm supposed to have around the house?

The "legitimate games I own" was wonderful
Keep these retro game type videos coming! Love Red Cow Entertainment!

man, this is so inspiring to watch!! kinda makes me want to install those Sega Genesis mods that enhance the sound output and change the region..
I need a similar thing for my c64. My tape collection is fun but so slow. Thanks for the vid.

The ending 😆
I could watch EJ solder blobs all day.
Great vid! Why do you need a scart cable if it played on the crt without it?
I have a ps1 mini and 3 ps2’s laying around, but now with the costs of games going through the roof this seems like a better option

Wait was this video re-uploaded? I could have sworn I watched this already yesterday
Yeah it’s a clip of the xstation video on the other red cow channel.
Interesting developments in the world of the slobs...two of them (Tony and Keiran) are both gone, and Newt has been opening up more about how they operated on a personal level on his recent live streams the last couple of weeks

are you reading your intro lmao
I read the whole thing. It’s scripted.
I don't understand adding a power brick..... was your PSU having problems? I wouldn't make my system more bulky. If it was a cleanpower micro-USB plug I might do that.
Wow this mod is way easier than the PSIO mod.
impressive
What format do you install the games, and what format for multi disc
@ 9:32 bimmy rolfe would say how megaman x4 is innovated for having multiple camera angles and ask if it plays like megaman 2
Hey big guy. I am farely new at this. I got it running and everything. Need the games. Where do i find them? Thanks.

I remembered to hit "Like" after "bang for buck."
Why do this if you’re not going to use a crt tv? If your just going to hook it up to a modern tv why not just use your PC to emulate?
@@turnbasedtoddy7664 I use it on a crt. I just tested it on the nearest tv
Serious question…what’s the difference between this and if you were to emulate it on a device and av out to a crt tv
I'll actually be doing a video about that very topic soon! But the modded original hardware does feel more authentic and has less lag. The emulation is pretty good though, so I'll cover that soon.
excuse me, a Zacto knife?? never change, my man
A Zacto knife is useful for fixing a Super Intendo as well.
Yeah.. im never gonna be able to pull this off.

@@RedCowArcade and I guess I live vicariously through you and the others who are able to take the time to do the board level mod stuff!
