1994년부터 호랑이 연구에만 전념하고 있다. 현재 러시아 극동 지리학 연구소의 세계적인 호랑이 전문가 드미트리 피크노프, 빅토르 유딘 박사 등과 연계하여 동북아 호랑이에 대한 연구 활동을 하고 있다. 1997년 ‘추적 한국호랑이’, 1998년 ‘한국호랑이가 사라진다’라는 KBS 다큐멘터리를 제작하였다. 이 외에 국제 워크숍에서 ‘대한민국에 호랑이가 살아 있다1998’, ‘DMZ에 호랑이, 표범 국제 사파리 공원을 만들자(1999)’, ‘남북한 DMZ 철책으로 인한 근친 번식 문제의 심각성1999’, ‘야생 호랑이의 심리 테스트 연구2002’등의 연구 논문을 발표하였다. 2000년에는 세계 최초로 호랑이가 나무를 10미터 이상 올라가는 모습을 촬영하여 발표하기도 했다.
