my dad told me about this song & explained about Saigon when I was still too young to real be into rock n roll, I've always remembered that, I feel such a deep love & respect for the Viet nam generation, so defined by the powerful music, this song tells a powerful story..by the way, seeing& hearing these guys reminds of how embarrassed of the so-called Lynyrd Skynyrd we currently have forsaking the rebel flag, saying its irrelevant & racist what a load, I'm not from the south, I'm from WA , but we go well with southern folk & them with us, if they move they sure don't wanna go north, my partners from being kids are related to the James boys of Missouri & have pictures in their family album, its just Southern pride, pride in your family & heritage, but I forgot, you can't be white & be proud anymore, its "against the damn law" certainly can't be white from the south and be proud, hell no..that's an embarrassment for Skynyrd to say that good God Almighty...
Hi Randy, I love this song and as far as displaying the rebel flag we never considered taking it off. It was a permanent fixture on our microphone stand. :-) your Dad sounds cool.
