If you got a RUclips message saying you won, IT IS NOT REAL! There are scumbags out there who find pleasure in impersonating others to profit for themselves. The real winner will be announced on my Twitter (@mstechyt) on October 10th!!
Eddie Zuhric Depends. Screen protectors are used more for protection from things like keys, coins, etc. Your fingers won't scratch the screen. If you don't ever have your phone in your pocket/purse with other things, I wouldn't worry about it.
The grey lines aren't the antennas but the antenna seperators. The aluminium body is the antenna which is seperated in 3 parts by the plastic lines: wifi/bluetooth, carrier and nfc antennas from bottom to top.
If you want a real scratch tests where screens are concerned you need to use either rocks or sand because that will simulate dust using a knife will not work because glass is harder than the knife so the knife cannot scratch the glass
Your not going to make a scratch on Gorilla type glass (or their version of it), unless you use something harder like sand (realistic as it can get in a pocket). Only things as hard or harder than the surface they are attempting to scratch will actually have an affect on it (metal is softer than what it takes to actually scratch this glass, but given enough force will crack it). Another thing aiding this glass is the slick oleophobic coating used on it, which helps deflect any object attempting to scratch it.
For scratching materials it isn't about how sharp something is as it is how hard something is. The knife's metal is relatively soft compared to the crystal used on the iPhone's screen. If you used diamond sandpaper instead of the knife you would see a huge difference.
Its a fucking experiment. What the hell do u expect??If your gonna test something for other people interested in buying the iPhone 6 , someones gotta do it.
I appreciate you making this video. I was having some OCD about getting a screen protector even though I hate them. Now I feel a lot better with having a bare screen. Apple care plus should be more than enough to keep my phone safe for two years.
Great idea and he should probably get a screen protector too this vid is so dumb.. If u change the iphone to an android the result probably will be the same
+sara idgaf You may not know, but there are many people who prefer having their phones "naked". For example I have a Samsung Galaxy S6, and I don't feel the need for a case, I've had it for a few months now, and have dropped it many times, but once where my heart dropped (chest height). However, and this may be a sole case, but my phone wasn't damaged.
+Babazooleh Khan yes but we don't scratch our phone like he did.. all phones are the same it'll get scratches sooner or later.. it is my opinion about this vid.. soo 😊
You definitely have a point. The first two were realistic, and the last one not so much. I did it mostly to see if the knife would be able to scratch the screen, since it was unaffected otherwise.
Obviously it won't scratch the glass. Were you not taught MOHs scale of mineral hardness in school? Glass, specifically gorilla glass has a MOHs rating of roughly 7. Metal doesn't really come near that (unless it's a alloy, which in this test none of which were). The knife won't scratch it simply because it doesn't have a higher MOHs rating than gorilla glass.
All these vids are bullshit if he went on a white screen there would be so many scratches trust me little ones that are hard to see but they are all over everyone's phone from nail just get perfect sunlight and u will see
I really like the way you are presenting your tests Matt. I never subscribed to any tech channel before but here you are with a new subscriber. Keep up the good work and greetings from France !
FINALLY A YOU TUBE CHANNEL THAT JUST DOESN'T JUST DESTROY THE PHONE! something that helps humanity in a positive way not just fucking phones up. thankyou for your test!
I'm pretty sure those aren't scratches on the antennae lines. Those are bits and particles of metal scratching off of your keys. If you use a damp cloth to wipe the antennaes, they should be clean. I don't own an iPhone (oneplus one).
fuck man the iPhone 5 was like a fucking tank. the iphon6 wtf....so delicate. i dropped my iPhone like 5 times and there's just little bitt of scuffs and stuff on the sides and edges. nothing on the back, not even on the plastics. screen is perfect. idk why apple did so shitty with the quality of the iPhone 6
2cool0 my iphone 6 is a month old.used a case since day one.later when i removed the case to clean the phone i discovered a tiny bitt of scuff on the lower edge.i donno how that happened.never dropped the phone.i believe it was there on the phone right out of the box
Well gravity and momentum would cause the keys to impact the phone with a greater force than when still, but perhaps in the future I will do literal scratch durability tests (actually walking/running with the phone),
Tight pants; I know I wear skinny jeans sometimes and accidentally put my keys in the same back pocket as my phone, and also small purses or bags. Depending on how hard you're running and the environment, I could totally see keys giving your phone screen a good smack.
my iphone 6's screen doesnt have a protector and in my surprise in one week it has lot of scratches already. i never even put it with anything inside my pocket. its a shame
Everyone tends to put their phones in rough surfaces or dropped them at some point. By using rocks as a durability test will prove how much this phone could handle you idiot.
Coin doesn't have the rough edges of a rock which could easily destroy a phone's sensitive screen when it is shook in a bag. The flat rounded surfaces of a coin could hardly compare to the rough edges of a rock in a durability test.
The whole purpose of the unrealistic tests is if the phone can survive being sandblasted by quarters dropping it into you're pocket full of change is something you're never going to worry about.
I'm wondering if Corning is still making this screen. They say ion strengthened glass, but that's the same tech Corning uses for Gorilla Glass 3...Is it harder? Softer? The same?
@phone case: Or you might like to appreciate the design of the phone... @screen protector: The manufacturers have designed the phone (including the screen) to get through daily usage. So some may argue that the original screen should withstand any issues
Or their not 12 year olds who throw their phone up in the air and watch it drop to its death or they can afford to replace it OR they have insurance/warranty on it...
+Maarten Visser Why am I going to buy a phone and care about what it looks like to put it in a bulky, ugly, and cheap phone case? My phone has it's own pocket and I don't use it around water nor do I let anyone else use it. So I'm sure it's safe.
NOT just dust particles! Scratches clearly visible picked up by the light just after 3:03 as the phone is tilted. These are caused by nothing more than a particle of dust/ dirt when you clean your screen with a cloth.
Ahem. Glass can shatter. Aluminum can scratch. You can get a case. You can take care of your phone. Or you could buy a phone made with plastic and plexiglass. It's your choice.
Thumbs up - nicely done video. Thank you :-) I am an owner of the 6+ and using a leather case from Apple. Good to see that the front is so resistant against scratches. Impressive!
Hey Matt. really nice video. But I have one suggestion. Could you do a scratch resistance test for the screen on the floor (concrete/stone). Because sometime when a phone falls out of your hands it drags along on the floor for some distance and gets scratched. It would be interesting to see if the iPhone screen can hold up against that. Thanks
WTF man ! i'm not going to war with an iphone 6 !! just a nice phone keep it safe and it's gonna be always beautiful ( that's what my grand mom say in general ) but for me, get a Samsung Galaxy S6 that phone is HULK
I have a screen protector for my screen and for the back. It prevents scratches on both sides of the phone and it doesn't add any weight to the phone. Thats an easy way to prevent scratches on your phone
To everybody saying the knife part isn't realistic... It isn't supposed to be he said it was an extra to see how much it can withstand maybe you guys should start listening
Hi Matt, nice reviews.. can you do one scratch test for one plus? I have one with screen protector. Personally i dont like screen protector much if i can avoid or if the screen is strong enough I will take it out. what do you think?
Get t a LED flashlight and try few different angles after your try tracking up the scree...I have a couple of little scratches that seem to only show under certain light. I suspect it's the a coasting on the glass than may be softer than the GG3 that takes the hit. It's hard to see but it's there.
Great video! I looked around a lot for scratch claims on the screen as I've dropped my phone in my pocket with keys a million times. Great to see how well the screen holds up!

I got the message too. Was so excited when I read it.
Zacks Reviews Me too
Damn it man! That explains a lot of things.
For everyday use would you recommend buying a screen protector or not to bother buying one.
Eddie Zuhric Depends. Screen protectors are used more for protection from things like keys, coins, etc. Your fingers won't scratch the screen. If you don't ever have your phone in your pocket/purse with other things, I wouldn't worry about it.
This video is kind of blowing up... thank you!
But where are you people coming from??
South Cali(:
Alaska
Finland! :>
Norway :-)
Germany
My phone gets its own pocket, not gonna risk scratches lol
The grey lines aren't the antennas but the antenna seperators. The aluminium body is the antenna which is seperated in 3 parts by the plastic lines: wifi/bluetooth, carrier and nfc antennas from bottom to top.
@@melvo3048 a nerd bassically means that he is smarter than you. Rather be a nerd than not.

12treeGoldfisher It is not. Some kinds of stone yes. But the little scratches you get over time, thats little stone shit.

first of all, i would never put my phone in pocket full of coins or keys, second i will never have situation to rub knife on my phone
The knife is to show the phone's limits, not to be realistic.
Some people will though.. not purposely of course but it happens to the best of us. He isn't dedicating this video solely for you.
Nina L. Except the video is called "Realistic iPhone 6 scratch test".
razrv3lc That last bit was an extra, the rest was realistic
+enes alkovis no one cares what you do. If you don't like it don't watch the video
Another great video as always Matt!
for everybody who wants to go straight ro the knife part it starts at 7:35
For scratching materials it isn't about how sharp something is as it is how hard something is. The knife's metal is relatively soft compared to the crystal used on the iPhone's screen. If you used diamond sandpaper instead of the knife you would see a huge difference.
Who would ever cut a phone with a knife??? What's next? iPhone 6 Chuck Norris Roundhouse Kick Test?
Its a fucking experiment. What the hell do u expect??If your gonna test something for other people interested in buying the iPhone 6 , someones gotta do it.
It's just a test dip shit
niko22225 do you not know what a test is?
Zorken05 Vincent he said the knife was unrealistic
Thank you for introducing me to massdrop!
The back is pathetic iv been really careful with mine and have had a case on yet still there's small specks where the gold has chipped
TUPAC AMARU SHAKUR little stone particels like quartz etc.
TUPAC your your... Your alive oh my god my life is complete
Same thing happened to me and im actually really frustrated it just ruins the whole point lol
I appreciate you making this video. I was having some OCD about getting a screen protector even though I hate them. Now I feel a lot better with having a bare screen. Apple care plus should be more than enough to keep my phone safe for two years.

Haha ano😂😂
Thanks for the opportunity!
"Realistic" your not going to carry a knife around in your pocket are you. Not criticising your video, just saying. Good video.
You definitely have a point. The first two were realistic, and the last one not so much. I did it mostly to see if the knife would be able to scratch the screen, since it was unaffected otherwise.
He said that that one wouldn't be realistic
Seth Parisi
Oh did he, for some strange reason I was watching it with no sound on.
Colt Gangsta erm, EDC?
Epic Tom EDC - Every Day Carry, they're knives you take around with you every day in case of emergency.
Want them bundles so bad. Thanks Matt.
You r doing great job. Keep it up

T World Peace T it was originally going to be made out of that, but was changed for the actual release. It is gorilla glass 3.
T World Peace T
It's not sapphire. Only the home button and the back camera have sapphire glass.
monica maria im dead 😂😂😂
12treeGoldfisher It's gorilla glass. No iPhone has a sapphire screen it only has a sapphire camera lens and home button.

realistic? I've had a phone for 8 years and never had a knife scratch it.

I'm pretty sure those aren't scratches on the antennae lines. Those are bits and particles of metal scratching off of your keys. If you use a damp cloth to wipe the antennaes, they should be clean.
I don't own an iPhone (oneplus one).
I always keep my phone in one pocket and my money and other stuff in the other
A very helpful review, thanks.
What Iphone 6 stand are you using in this video please, it looks smart.
fuck man the iPhone 5 was like a fucking tank. the iphon6 wtf....so delicate. i dropped my iPhone like 5 times and there's just little bitt of scuffs and stuff on the sides and edges. nothing on the back, not even on the plastics. screen is perfect. idk why apple did so shitty with the quality of the iPhone 6
Colt Gangsta yeah man
I've had my iphone 4s for about 2 years now and i've dropped it multiple times and it has literally no scratches.
May maiken really? i knew a bunch of people that broke their screen after dropping it
2cool0 my iphone 6 is a month old.used a case since day one.later when i removed the case to clean the phone i discovered a tiny bitt of scuff on the lower edge.i donno how that happened.never dropped the phone.i believe it was there on the phone right out of the box
Niel Sawant it could be from the case itself maybe?
This is a great channel! Better than a lot of the other tech channels that have more subs!
I always keep my phone in it's own pocket, even if my phone was totally scratch proof I wouldn't want to risk it.
good idea i dont know why i never thought about that
Thats what I do. Maybe a piece of paper or something soft but no coins, keys, or anything esle
I though that the iPhone 6 will be better, but oh well. Great video Matt!
Why would running with a phone in your pocket forcefully press your keys against it? These tests are not realistic at all
Well gravity and momentum would cause the keys to impact the phone with a greater force than when still, but perhaps in the future I will do literal scratch durability tests (actually walking/running with the phone),
Tight pants; I know I wear skinny jeans sometimes and accidentally put my keys in the same back pocket as my phone, and also small purses or bags. Depending on how hard you're running and the environment, I could totally see keys giving your phone screen a good smack.
Jessica Slagle can u make a pic of urself with skinny`s on??
He states that the test is not realistic at all...
You should do a bunch more iPhone 6 tests. I actually want to buy one now.
you are not smart techguy. You are just too rich.
***** I see you everywhere have you been searching for mechanical keyboard
those scratching noises give me the chills
my iphone 6's screen doesnt have a protector and in my surprise in one week it has lot of scratches already. i never even put it with anything inside my pocket. its a shame
You're lying. Get a life!!
lol im not, thank God its not visible anymore after i put a screen protector
i think its becauseof my earrings when im hving a call it mightve scratched there if its because of diamonds i suppose
Off topic, but nice Kabar! I've had one of those since the mid-eighties and it refuses to die.
Use rocks instead of coins, they will prove to be a better substitute for a durability test.
Everyone tends to put their phones in rough surfaces or dropped them at some point. By using rocks as a durability test will prove how much this phone could handle you idiot.
Rocks have rougher surfaces than coins.

May I recommend the you show the iPhone before the scratching so we can see a before and after.
The cringe when you scratched the HTC One. Oh, yeah the iPhone? What iPhone?
Hahahah
love these videos and awesome some one so young doing these, looking forward to more.
Still don't know y and how this vid was 10 min. Long
Nice video, always like your videos, what desk are you using?
If you don't want scratches on the back use a fucking phone case
Marvin Cubero some people don’t ( I do)
The whole purpose of the unrealistic tests is if the phone can survive being sandblasted by quarters dropping it into you're pocket full of change is something you're never going to worry about.
Day 902: still haven't found a phone which can be put in the same pocket as my knives
I'm wondering if Corning is still making this screen. They say ion strengthened glass, but that's the same tech Corning uses for Gorilla Glass 3...Is it harder? Softer? The same?
You must be poor if you can afford a Iphone 6 but not a Phone Case or Screen protector..

well didn't know this was going to be a giveaway video, but it's great to see you do another giveaway
Great video!! Love scratch-test, especially on one of the most hyped phones! Also I'm in to the contest!
NOT just dust particles! Scratches clearly visible picked up by the light just after 3:03 as the phone is tilted. These are caused by nothing more than a particle of dust/ dirt when you clean your screen with a cloth.
we see scratches at a level 6 with deeper grooves at a level 7
Good review Matt, thanks.
Really enjoyed this video, found the links between knives and iPhone really "realistic" thanks man
Wow! These giveaways are great! So awesome they do so many of them
Good video Matt Schaefer. It is thoughtful. Thanks. I've pre-ordered iPhone 6 here in India.
Best iphone videos around right now
Great vid, because too many people consider their iphones like jewels and forget it's just...a phone, and has to live it's phone's life.
a nice detailed test. thnx
Getting the headphones on this bundle would be awesome the battery would be helpful too!
For me it was a good video, now i know what to look out for, thanks man
Joined. the new screen is great with a case. no more random scratches from pockets on screens
Ahem.
Glass can shatter.
Aluminum can scratch.
You can get a case.
You can take care of your phone.
Or you could buy a phone made with plastic and plexiglass.

Hey man I stumbled apon your channel today looking about for OnePlus One and how it's just the best phone ever!
Lol yo I bet the phone was already scratched, is he trying to fool us? Cuz it ain't working
Thanks matt! great video
Thumbs up - nicely done video. Thank you :-) I am an owner of the 6+ and using a leather case from Apple. Good to see that the front is so resistant against scratches. Impressive!
Great quality videos dude. Love ur vids.
Love your iphone videos so i can make a final choice about what is better Iphone 6 or Galaxy s5
can u do a scratch test on the s6 with the same keys and knife
This is the most realistic test I've seen..thank for this!!!!

Massdrop bundle giveaway is incredible! Best headphones on the market, hands down!
I just subscribed yesterday and I'm already a big fan great videos
Love you're videos Matt keep it up !!
Have you tried turning it back off and on ?
WTF man ! i'm not going to war with an iphone 6 !! just a nice phone keep it safe and it's gonna be always beautiful ( that's what my grand mom say in general ) but for me, get a Samsung Galaxy S6 that phone is HULK

Thanks for the giveaway, man! Good luck to everyone else!
thanks for the review sire..
This video was very educational for the durability of my i phone,Thank You
One of the reasons why I loved and miss the iPhone 4/4s design. Really didn't need a case for that the phone.
best review
just what I wanted since I was planning for cover
quite realistic
To everybody saying the knife part isn't realistic... It isn't supposed to be he said it was an extra to see how much it can withstand maybe you guys should start listening
I love watching all these videos but may i know who sponsors this video? I mean what happens to the phone afterwards? Do you just get it replaced?
is your strongest, and power from breaking?
Nice and realistic test. Good job
Hi Matt, nice reviews.. can you do one scratch test for one plus? I have one with screen protector. Personally i dont like screen protector much if i can avoid or if the screen is strong enough I will take it out. what do you think?

Great video! I looked around a lot for scratch claims on the screen as I've dropped my phone in my pocket with keys a million times. Great to see how well the screen holds up!
Just made a massdrop account... l was actually shocked to see how the front of the phone held up.
I've used my iPhone 6 without a screen protector for 2 years and the screen definitely has some noticeable scratches
Realistic?
Scratch an iPhone with a knife....
A madness in action....
This would be amazing! Good luck everyone
Hate it when americans pronounce Aluminium as Aluminum :")
Hate it when Brits comment on how Americans or other non Brits pronounce words.
Morgen Holz Hate it when silly Americans think only Brits pronounce it this way. I'm Australian.
Also, Morgen Holz fun fact, it's actually SCIENTIFICALLY correct to pronounce it that way. Thanks :)
Glxi I'm Peruvian and I pronounce ALUMINIUM like ALUMINIO in Spanish. So yeah, you're correct.
Fernando Callo Funky
Matte clear skin on the back is starting to look like a good idea right about now...
Did you buy that phone?
Did they send the iphone to yuu for free ?
So that’s why I was so addicted to it? It’s Asmr?
That glass is pretty impressive. Apple has finally made it
Idea. Put your phone in a different pocket.
